My late father was a fan of disaster films back in the 70s. He watched them all. Then in 97 Titanic came and became his favorite movie, it is the ultimate disaster film.

I just watched the remake, it's on CZcams, I'd never seen the original but I enjoyed the newer version, it was well acted by the entire cast and the story was interesting enough to try and look up the original, which is how I got here.

There's NO comparison...the original is FAR superior to the remake. The characters are better developed and played by an all-star cast (Stewart, Attenborough, Finch, Borgnine, Kennedy, Duryea, and Kruger)!!!

I think you will see Humphrey Bogart exit cars the same way. I don't think it was primarily for safety, but simple economy of effort. The cars of 1960 (and earlier) being so large, "scooting over" the bench seat would get you about a ten yard start to where you were going versus walking all the way around the front or back of the vehicle from the driver's side.

The thing I will give to the Jim Belushi film is the accents. Hearing Sgt. Tambul in the Bogey film with an African-American accent can be a bit jarring. Oh, and Lloyd Bridges as a Brit.

fully realizing that Arthur knew Steve's plan further recontextualized his death, i think he allowed Steve to kill him, it was a sort of subconscious assisted suicide, he couldn't possibly bare the loneliness anymore but he was still bloodthirsty enough to get even with Steve, in fact.. perhaps in his mind he thought by killing him he'd save him from a life of eternal loneliness as well.

I despise how the remake bad guys aren't wearing disguises at all, dolts.
