After enjoying huge popularity and attracting millions of fans throughout the 1980s from appearances in comic books, television cartoons and selling a whole lot of toys, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles finally make the leap to the big screen in their first live action adventure.
Fans finally got to see Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello unleash their ninja skills on the Foot Clan, protect April O'Neil, save their beloved rat mentor Splinter, do battle with the evil Shredder and eat pizza in a motion picture.
Starring Judith Hoag, Elias Koreas, James Saito, an early appearance of Sam Rockwell, the voice of Corey Feldman and the talents of Jim Henson's Creature Shop to bring the creatures to life. I take a look at 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Still one of the best comic book films ever made. 30 years old and it still holds up. Cool soundtrack, nicely dark, serious enough to enjoy the silly bits - and most importantly: a good story with compelling characters. Why can't they not make more films like this....?
The reason the first film is generally considered the best is because, in spite of some streamlining and elements taken from the 1987 TV show, it was a faithful adaptation of the events from the original comics.
Probably the best thing ever created out of the Turtles comic. Such a good adaptation
A legitimately entertaining film that has largely stood the test of time - if you have nostalgia for it.
Splinter was voiced by Kevin Clash, who was also the voice of Elmo on Sesame Street.
"Not da mama!"
...who remembers the great Pizza Hut song from the commercial on the original VHS?
Always glad for another haphazardstuff video and that fact that it's about such a great little flick makes it even better.
I'll put this in a way that you will understand- If you think of the first TMNT movie as "Thunderball" or "From Russia With love", then the second one is either "Die Another Day" or whichever Roger Moore 007 movie you find least enjoyable. You are not missing anything.
all you parents today need to quit sitting on your asses and show your kids this movie right now!
Have you done one on flash gordon from 1980.I think you would do a great job on that film..Love your reviews.Greetings from dublin Ireland stay safe.
ed campion I did do a Flash Gordon video! I always dug that flick!
TMNT (1990) is not your cup of tea, fine, fine. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea man. Was it my cup of tea though? Yeah, it was. I fricken love this movie! ARe you kidding? This movie touched a lot of people man! Why did I love it, I don't know, I like the actors in it, I like how they played their roles, I like the wild ride the whole cast went on. People who like this movie, may have also liked the 1987 animated series, I stopped liking turtles basically after turtles 2 movie (which I also liked). I didn't like the Turtles 3 movie. The reasons why I liked it, well one of them is live action and not modern cgi crap. Modern cgi crap cheapens a movie badly. This is a big reason why 1990 Turtles is so timeless. Like I want to check up on the actors in the movie and see how they're doing.. they touch a lot of lives man
The first was hands down the best. the second? meh its okay but the third was a travesty.
OK, now I wanna see you review TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES III for this series. Makes DIE ANOTHER DAY look like CITIZEN KANE.
Great movie. I remember going to the theater to see it when i was 5 and my mom getting mad about the bad language
Damn! Thats like the only sorta bad word in the movie
I've waited a long time for this :)
I am a big Turtles fan because of the 87 and 2003 cartoons and the film has never been anything special to me. Certainly it's better than the Bay produced films but that's not a high bar to clear. It's okay but I always felt that the story was too corny and too 90's bland kid adventure for my taste. I disagree that Puppets are better than CGI. The Bay Turtles movies CGI was fine, it was the designs that were awful. Personally I'll take the Gollum and Thanos CGI creature route than clunky Muppets in this day and age.
FIRST 😂😊🍸
GREAT FILM.
