    Episode 6: The Future - The Forecasting for No Time To Die has come to a close, but now ‪@DutchBondFan‬ and I turn our 'Forecasting Focus' on what comes next for the James Bond series. Who will play Bond now that Daniel Craig has left? What kind of tone will the series take? Will partnering with Amazon be a big shift in what fans will see? What roads do Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have in mind for the future of the James Bond series. Jeroen and I take some guesses, make some predictions and scratch our heads as to what will happen with the James Bond series now.

    Whatever 'NTTD' brings, thanks guys for your video series. Always a pleasure to hear what you think.

    Bond is Bond. Anything regarding Nomi's gonna be a one off thing. I don't fear much about it, just wouldn't make sense. I know the long wait feels like a never-ending limbo, but y'all gotta have some faith.
    Outside of the films' future, we do have a new video game coming. Very much looking forward to that.

    I'm suprised you didn't mention the recent leaked rumours about No Time to Die will reportedly have an epilogue, but it won’t feature Craig’s Bond. Instead, a five-year old girl named Mathilde will feature alongside Nomi who pilots Madeleine and Mathilde to safety to an island. It's suggested that Mathilde is Bond's daughter with Swann. It does seem that Bond probably dies in Safrin's lair. Of course, this is entirely speculative, but it does seem to tie-in with the footage that's already been filmed and discussed elsewhere. That said, I also understand that many different endings were shot to stop spoilers from leaking, so this might well be one of the phoney alternative endings that won't appear in the final cut. Here's hoping.

    No, it wasn't Lee Tamahori that was due to helm the Jinx spin-off movie in 2003. It was Stephen Frears who had previously directed Dangerous Liasons and The Grifters that was working on it. But MGM pulled the plug and decided to do a deal with Sony and acquire the rights to Casino Royale instead. The rest is history, as they say.

    15:00-A Lois Maxwell Moneypenny movie? Kind of had that in an Italian parody movie, _O.K. Connery,_ back in 1967-and kinda like _Get Smart,_ Maxwell’s character was kind of the brains of the situation!

    Earlier today, I read a couple of reviews of James Patterson’s _The Shadow_ novel (maybe actually mostly written by a Brian Sitts, but that’s a different issue!) and I was impressed that the story, in theory a continuation of the pulp and radio character from the 30s and 40s who had “the power to cloud men’s minds” was really the origin story of a young woman living in a dystopian future who has a similar power set…and The Shadow himself is a side character of her story!
    I don’t have an issue with adventure stories with female leads-I’m a big _Ghost in the Shell_ fan-so why not create a story, y’know, centered with the female lead instead of the bait-and-switch?
    Ah, what do _I_ know?’

    I understand DBF’s concerns but I don’t think the series would go the route of abandoning James Bond. For all the missteps Babs and Mike have Don in their tenure (decisions in the Brosnan era, Spectre) I do think they know to keep the basics around and know certain boundaries can’t be crossed. I am holding out hope they’ll look to Luke Evans, Henry Cavill or Aidan Turner to be the next Bond, but maybe a fresh face will be better (I just can’t see Tom Hardy in the role).
    Either way, if NTTD is a bust at least we will be getting John’s Spectre series (which I’m sorta more excited about then NTTD)

    You know the producers want to continue with Nomi as 007 instead of some lame WASP. They wouldn't get away with it in the end. They want nothing to do with the literary character of Bond, which leaves most of the audience more indifferent than outraged. Just take away all the appeal of Bond and see what happens.

    I am very strongly against making Bond like the MCU movies. I want them to go back to stand alone adventures. I loved the old references in past films like to Tracy in FYEO, etc. but just leave things like that. Not everything needs to be connected. I really hope Barbara and Michael do that.

    it makes sense, since bond has inspired every spy show, so make bond stream, will make franchise be like any other spy franchise, just make cinematic forever please. fun fact henry cavil plays superman and nopolean solo, robert vaughn played nopolean solo, and was in a superman movie.

    i just thought of another intr ending that could happen, at the end we see blofeld in his cell, and hear guards knock out or killed of, and a redheaded lady comes to the cell, and we see close up to blofeld, say - what took u so long miss Bundt?. and thats the return of irma bundt.

    Hey John i have two questions one how do you expect the next Bond actor era of flims to play out and two by the time No Time To Die comes out and you do your Spectre project will the plan for your No Time To Die project be the same thing regarding Bond 26.

      I figure I’ll wait for Bond 26 to come out before I do a NTTD project. I think it helps to get more of an overview of it & how it affected what followed it. I’ll probably do a NTTD discussion with Jeroen before then though. As for the next era of Bond films, I predict a continuity over the course of the movies isn’t going to go away.

    The things is though that the production rate has gotten so low… we get a new Bond film every 5 years now instead of every 2? I know that quantity doesn’t necessarily guarantee quality but picking it up would allow for a quick succession of a Nolan Bond with 3 movies and then the next one.
    Also, can’t Bond 26 just reconnect loosely to the “original” timeline?

  • @CaminoAir
    @CaminoAir Před 2 lety

    I really can't see future Bond films being prepped properly for continuity, or any kind of overall plan being seeded. The realities of financing, promotion and trying to juggle all the logistics of one of these films would prevent it. Look at Nolan's Batman trilogy. Even elements like Gotham City itself changed radically over the three films. 'The Dark Knight' was the result of Nolan somewhat reluctantly rounding out the series. It made little sense as a third film (part re-tread, part frenzied tying up loose ends). Even Blofeld in 'FRWL' and 'Thunderball' was 180-ed for 'YOLT'.

    Bond should be Bond, we havent gotten that seens 2002, its bad, many loves craig but its not bond, its a mix of jason bourne, nolans dark knight, later some mix of m-i. Henry Cavill is the best choise, most fans favo, he got the look and style, also go back to classic bond, and get rights to benson and gardners books and james bond future is safe.

      There's one interesting detail a lot of cinematic Bond fans may not be aware, in the novel, "You Only Live Twice" Bond has a son...half Japanese, half English. An Eurasian may be timely (?)
      The possibilities would be interesting.
      I'm imagining a storyline where Bond's son being raised by 'Uncle' Tiger Tanaka...

    HOWARD WEBER says > Quite simply, Bond does not belong in today`s PC - WOKE world. When Pierce said the words " filthy habit " ( reffering to cigarettes ) in the Tomorrow Never Dies pre-credit sequence, you knew the Bond films were going in a different direction. Also, the problem I have with the Bond producers is that they don`t get any input from the serious hard core Bond fans. For example > Did the producers really think that Bond fans wanted to see Bond act like Tarzan and wear a gorilla suit in Octopussy. That`s one example. there are others.

    Gnome would not sell. And even from the trailers, Jinx was a far more attractive proposition than this dead zombie. Plus the fact she insulted Bond fans… she can go eff off. As for Craig staying on as a co-producer or creative consultant… bad idea, I think it is all just speculation.

  • @robertharvey2604
    @robertharvey2604 Před 2 lety +2

    While I love the idea of a period piece, I'm not sure that casual fans would go for it. I'm also convinced that spinoffs are coming. I don't think they will sell. What I'd like to see is less of a character arc based series. I like continuity (especially having the same actor playing Felix) but the films should be more stand alone. I love the grittiness of the Craig Era but there should be more humor. Also less of the MI-6 Scooby Do gang. As for actor to play Bond. I have no idea who these young actors are so I can't say. The franchise could benefit from new writers.
    As for the ending, I still think it's going to be bad. And that will be a shame. It will also hit EON hard financially. If the stories are true that the film needs to a massive success to break even, then they are in a difficult spot. Loss of die hard fans who might not go back 2 or 3 times (or more), as many have done throughout the years will hurt them. Better hope the casual fans love the ending.

    I wouldn’t mind a Mallory spin off series, and bring in Moneypenny, Q and Tanner. As for the new Bond, after all the s**t that has been talked about regarding gnome… I would be happy with any male actor playing 007. I totally disagree with the period piece route, with Nolan at the helm no doubt it will be awesome, but to reboot Bond in the past is not only counterproductive to engaging some modern audiences, but it will give all these whingeing hypocrites the ammunition to shout out that Bond belongs in the past. Also, after Kingsman, I find that idea even more off putting.

    Cavill is a poor actor who doesn't even possess the required charisma to pull of an ordinary role, let alone portray Bond.
