From what your explaining it almost sounds like your mother may have had Narcisstic personality disorder. Your ex definately had a really bad case of it, her behaviour had all the symptoms of that. You never described much about your mom or dad, but given that you were raised mostly by your mom, and seemingly explain being conditioned to be submissive to shame and gaslighting, well, that tells me she may have been too dominant and controlling. Sounds rough, your ex was a straight up Narco with a sociopathic tendencies, unfortunately, I began to realize that NPD is a real epidemic in the human population, so many people seem to have this psychological disorder and often times it goes undiagnosed, since baby boomer protrayed it as normal and even encouraged it thoughout the 80's and 90's. Similar story. They withhold sex to break you down, they see it makes you miserable not having it and that makes them wicked and cruel. They still have happy endings other ways, just hide it. The straw for me was when I noticed his need to entertain other women all while knowing i am starved of sex and I started hearing they cheated and knew they did and refuse to come clean. Women will say no mean no, except when they don't mean it. When is which? Even she doesn't always know. This is why most men would rather spend time on their own, hanging out with their friends, or just spend time with their dogs, over being around a woman. My dogs don't play these games. When a women says “he should know, I shouldn’t have to tell him what I want” I think they are talking about anticipating what her needs are. This is of course not true with all women especially the ones that would be deemed as unhealthy. But for the healthy women who make this statement I agree to a point. If you have already been in a relationship for a few months, and had the talks that address what each person is wanting out of the relationship then anticipating each other’s needs is kinda part of being in a relationship. For example when my wife knows that I’ve had an exhausting day at work, she will do extra little things to make the rest of the evening more comfortable for me, like get my sweatpants out for me, have a cold drink ready for me, and things like that. And I do the same for her in return, without either of us asking the other. As far as the “no” but try anyway part, I can see how while dating that would be completely stupid of the woman to think he’s going to keep trying after she made it clear by saying no. But as a married couple my wife makes it a playful game where I’ll end up chasing her around the house, but she makes it clear she ok with whatever I’m asking for by playfully saying no.😎
