JL H, Headaches addressed with Syntonic Phototherapy
JL-H is a young adult who complains of frequent headaches. She is a Computer major and obviously spends a lot of time on the computer. “The headaches come and go depending on the workload. My biggest concern is that now, I can't see far away anymore. I feel like I can't stay awake at times. Exhaustion is an issue for me. It is an 8 out 10 problem and it affects me daily”. The source of her headaches, and the problem of seeing at distance is actually from a problem at near, and how her visuals system functions when doing near work, such as working on the computer.
Her mother accompanied her to the visit. Her mother had benefited from Syntonic Phototherapy and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation in our office.
The examination indicated that JL-H has a problem with physical focusing at near. In addition, we prescribed eyeglasses that helped her see more clearly at distance. After she got those eyeglasses, she said: “I never realized how much of a problem I had seeing at distance and how much clearer I see now.”
The Syntonic Phototherapy Evaluation enabled us to identify which filters would be the best for her, in her particular case. Two weeks after starting Syntonic Phototherapy, she reported: “it's easier when I look at bright lights. I used to sit in dark rooms, because I couldn't handle light. The eyeglasses have made a big change. Just being able to see makes me happier and have less headaches. I didn't realize how much I had to do to compensate for not being able to see”.
Binasal occlusion helped open her periphery even more. By the 3rd week of Syntonic Phototherapy, she had gained the benefits that were intended. Her options are to now progress to the Vision Therapy or to stop at this point. She said: “I am happy where I am now". We will regroup in 6 months.
We are so happy that we were able to help her solve her problem, and that she is now better able to handle her world.

Question. What do you think about patching in terms of a treatment of a functional scotoma? I've got exotropia, functional scotoma and ARC. Since 14yo most of the time I force my eyes to look straight which comes with much discomfort and results into my eyes are deviated inwards when I "control" them. My doctor said that since I have such habit and also my brain suppresses one eye, first of all I need to forget this "wrong vision" so we can work with two eyes to develop binocular vision. I wear patch one day on left eye, one day on right eye. 100% of a time except time I exercise on a synoptophore. Unfortunately, strabismus was never treated before in my life. It initially appeared when I was 6, now I'm 23. Thank you in advance for your answer!

Should I be worried if I feel an insignificant difference in vision between one eye and the other? I recently noticed that my left eye sees very, very slightly better than my right eye, I can't tell if it's something I've had for years and just noticed or if it started recently.

Family Eye Care Great video. I tried Ortho-K twice; first time, nope second time, YES. Fantastic vision and I'm way beyond the age when most would dare try it. My only complaint was 'fading' during the day. Six weeks ago, I realized it wasn't fading. At all. I can go 36 hours without wearing (I don't) and I'm positive this will soon be 48. For continuity I still wear the lenses nightly. I trust my doctor but wanted to get your input, too. Let's say I got to only needing to wear every 72 hours - unbelievable but let's say it's so. Q. If I still wore the lenses every night as a patient that only need to wear them every 3 nights could this cause over-correction problems. Problem a fake term but I think you know what I'm referring to. I don't want to stay awake all day or whatever to run an experiment to see how many hours I can go; hence I wear them every night. Congrats to your patients! LR's story is phenomenal.
