Piracy will always be a thing as long as corporations and normal humans are a thing
What about mac?
Look at his eyes, he's full of matter. Sleep is his enemy :D
Man it's frustrating to have a subject Luke is talking about but Linus simply won't shut up. Let the man finnish then discuss, always trying to guess the next bit before he says it.
Linus has simply abstracted away principles and critical thinking when making a purchase. Some times people want to help the company become better. As a lot of fans did for AMD during the thought times, a lot of people just believed something like ryzen would come up if AMD was still on the market, and they knew AMD would probably not be there anymore unless people actually supported them when they were down.
Walmart needs to stop this now or there will be protests this is a childrens game is shopping online not good enough for you why do I need to do it "virtually" using a childs game this is ridiculous and NEEDS to IMMEDIATELY be taken down by the supreme court I'm about to file a complaint about all of this "virtual" reality and "Artificial" Intelligence anyone with me?
People didn’t buy AMD bc brand it was either budget or they were avoiding intel bc intel is a bad company.
Every single time Linus said something about her my immediate thought was “god Luke please interrupt him before he can speak” 😂
I wish interviewers would focus more on the answers their guests give than just impulsively move to the next question. There's a lot of stuff here that was begging for a follow-up question to get some more depth.
Holy f***, with this amount of parts, you could build a Metal Gear with it.
With the quality of "modern" movies and games nowadays, these corporations dont need worries about piracy, because ultimately the product its the problem...who waste space in HD, even if its free, with loads of trash?
My kids play Roblox quite a bit. I very rarely get them Robux. It took them a while of me saying, "Sorry, I'm not buying that" for them to get it. They very rarely even ask anymore, but still find ways to enjoy it. What I tell them the most is if they want to earn Robux, they should develop a game people want to play and make money that way. They're working on it.
Tech becomes mainstream. From nerdy 90's to toddlers that didnt start school of today. Marketing and lack of come and go's of companies compared to old telecoms makes them so easy to collect fanboys
Slippery slope arguments aren't great except that Ubisoft just got rid of everyone's copy of The Crew who had it digitally.
An aluminium rivet is NOT a secure fix for this. Alumunium has a lifespan as to how many times it can be stressed. If the adhesive failed due to sheer force, the rivet is experiencing the same force, but much more pressure because it's 1 rivet. Not to mention this is lazy and backyard hack levels of "fixing". The pedal should be redesigned to fit a counter sunk screw and replaced. Anything short of this and I would have demanded a full refund. I didn't order a car with a rivet pushing into my foot.
You don’t need to be a government organization to register a .gov domain
I don’t know if anyone at LTT will read this, but I’m a native Russian speaker and here’s a break down: He indeed said that. Straight up, says that cheating in online gaming communities adds to the spending factor for players. They’re incentivized to spend more money, because of frustration and is playing on people’s addiction to online gaming. It’s not just Nikita though. Exactly the same thing was said by the lead developer of World of Tanks from WarGaming. He said, and I quote: you need to suffer sometimes, so that the wins feel better. So if the price is a pack of in-game goods in order to beat a cheater, so be it.” It’s literally in the mind of most Russian players, that you must “donate”, yes, they don’t call those micro-transactions, it’s called a donation. Also allows them to circumvent laws as it doesn’t fall under category of an online purchase, but rather a donation of money to the free to play online developer. So yes, it’s not surprising with either WarGaming or Tarkov developers. It’s the Russian online gaming community mindset. Literally is, always has been, and always will be. Hope that clears it up a bit.
Destiny 2 free 2 play is where i went after the fiasco
Vote for Linus
I completely agree about the microtransacrion point. But I find it extremely cringe and bad taste to judge what kids play and say its "based" (Luke) or not, like wtf let people like what they like don't force certain games on your kids, let them have their own fun and explore the games they wanna explore. I dislike fortnite, but I won't judge a kid or any1 if they do like it, geez
I don't use biometrics if I can avoid it. I used to use fingerprint a decade ago, and it was secure then. It's highly encrypted and used to be something nobody was able to spoof. But recently, it's become feasible to spoof biometrics without the need of creating an artificial replica of the biometric medium, because it can be directly injected as code, so long as the systems can be compromised by utilizing exploits to allow code injection. Or even exploits to disable the lock in the first place. Hackers are creative, and have plenty of tools in their arsenal.
Ive heard these lootboxes and in some sense all microtransactions tickle the adiction part of the brain Saying just dont buy them is like telling an crack addict to just dont do drugs. Yah easier said than done I dont mind some games having it as i still see a micro transaction addiction is "better" that actual cocain addicion But my complaint is that it is in almost every fucking game right now
I have issues playing CZcams videos in CZcams with a premium account… how about they get their home problems fixed before they complain about other people.
It’s very important to teach self control with micro transactions. I was very susceptible to it and had spent a few thousand in the last decade between Clash of Clans, Fortnite, and Destiny 2. I could have easily had built another beast of a computer with that money. Those were dark times indeed, luckily I have mostly regained my senses of control over the desire for instant gratification. My sister started playing Fortnite a couple of months ago. To incentivize self control I have clearly told her that I would only be buying her first battle pass. She will only receive the in game currency from that pass. She can choose to save it to buy the next battle pass and continue getting in-game items, or she can squander it and wait till a birthday many months away. She still makes poor decisions on “cheap” items, but she has learned to control herself enough that she can still get the next pass. A friend’s mom had asked my mom if my sister would like some more in-game currency since they had an extra card, and I told her to turn them down. It would just have messed with the self control curriculum I had set.
Concerns about potential for backwards engineering being a reason for rejecting this proposal seems pretty backwards to me, as ultimately this will _neccesitate_ backwards engineering to ever acheive open source support 🤔
You are not aware of how close FSD is to be ready.
7:55 because Microsoft had only 1 console which managed to fight against the competition: Xbox 360. If they can't consistently do a good job on one part of gaming, doesn't make sense to try to do two at the same time.
These days people get pissed if their game doesn't have horse armor they can buy.
While Linus thinks this is a smart move, I think it's absolutely disgusting that a store, a chain of stores whose audience is adults with money, is trying to appeal to kids who have no money.
10:00 - I was a student in ~2010 and could afford my fx-6300 for 50 Euros (only CPU... I had to resort to buying a "Rasurbo" PSU because of budget constraints... urgh). It seemed like a good tradeoff to me for doing some gaming but mainly compiling C++ projects. It did fine and I ran it until 2019. It struggled but kept up!
The one large company I consider myself a fan of to a limited degree is Valve. Which is for all the work put into the Linux ecosystem for the Steam Deck, adequately supporting old hardware and having a rather complete social media network deeper in the site that serves as a sound backup for all platforms I currently use outside of CZcams. While I do continue to look at them critically, if I get the choice between a Valve product that is adequate or something else which is better, I will pick the Valve option. Examples being generally buying games from then instead of Itch or GOG and now using a second-hand Steam Controller as a remote. The Deck is not, as it's the best, in some ways one-of-a-kind device for me that I have found 4 different uses for; as a Linux tablet, an improvised media player, a general game controller and the intended on-device gaming usage. While I do like Motorola, Lenovo, AMD and Intel (on anything but CPUs for a few more years) more than the rest, here I do still objectively compare before making a choice of product. There I do first look at said brand's offerings and strongly recommend them for their track record of good products, emphasising that not all releases are good. The people having made their choice on said recommendations having been satisfied with the picked products and those holding up well.
Why are standardizations holding licensing like this?! If they are behind a wall, they shouldn't be considered standard and should get fines for being a proprietary cable. So sick of shit beingbheld back because ✨ rich person mad money not in pocket ✨ #notSorry
Buying digital stuff seems a silly waste of money to me, but, if getting a hat for your character makes you feel good for a while at least when you get tired of it then it won’t immediately go into a landfill. So many dopamine hit purchases are fast fashion or tech or whatever plastic thing you want in the moment are just going to be garbage.
comment of all "TIME" 5/13 1250
damn now that there is a lot of copper
I mean you hear people saying “Bob the influencer has 50 gazillion subscribers, he has to be careful with what he puts out.” Here’s the thing, specifically with tech, most channels are just enthusiasts like the rest of us. They’re not engineers, manufacturers or programmers (present channel excluded😂). It’s just someone’s opinion and while that opinion does have some weight the consumer will ultimately decide what they drop their hard earned money on, of course I may be giving consumers too much credit. But…the manufacturers have to be ready for the potential of being dragged across the coals if they drop a half baked beta product.
Seriously, why do you do this on the work network? Haha
I would say something, but I play Apex so nvm
Modern games and the garage loot box system what happened to actually beating the game
Sounds like a nice homelab proxmox cluster 🤣
I feel like Linus shouldn't be driving a car if he's that scared of incoming traffic. Driving does come with some pretty bad risks and the best way to minimize them is to not do anything weird and drive as infrequently as possible. FYI waiting couple seconds on green light does count as weird - you could get a pass once for being "the asshole that doesn't pay attention" but doing it every time would just make other drivers angry and more prone to crash into you.
im 16 i played fortnite and roblox alot when i was younger and wasn't allowed to spend money on it, so i just earned free robux by doing surveys, and i got free v bucks from the battle pas. when i had enough i got the battle pass and finished it every time so i got enough v bucks to get it again. and that way i still got the items i wanted without spending a dime.
If only it was less than $500 ;)
I used to be an adblock or die kinda guy, but I love CZcamsrs and the amount of enjoyment I've gotten over the years got me to do YT Premium instead. Also YT Premium still pays out on demonetized videos. I know not everyone in the world can afford it, but if you really like the YT channels you watch everyday, it's a great way to reward them
Ah yes, still milkin tarkov drama
Roblox and Minecraft are legitimately excellent learning tools for kids. Even with the transaction angle from roblox, arguably if that's a problem you are missing a parenting opportunity. Watching my son set up if/then Rube Goldberg masterpieces in Minecraft in 1st grade, and not having an adult lead him to that activity, was extremely cool. I appreciated that.
Hey lets be friends try comparing Android+IOS and tell me what you find out ...Asmon Friend....
For the argument around if everyone bought the best product it would become a monopoly, I understand the reasoning/perspective. But for products that aren't for specs, people's needs can differ a lot. M&K is the best for shooters, but I play with a controller because of my cerebral palsy. There will almost always be an audience for alternative products.
