A car shouldnt need a car wash mode.
My mum had a car that did have one - but all it did was retract the aerial/made sure you did.
Ant that the fucking truth. The cyber truck isn't a good looking truck nor a good design functionaly
tbh I'm kind of wondering what the hell car wash mode is doing there, and why can't it be turned on all the time
@kacperolszowski1331 more than likely it's locking all the seals. Like ok my samsung galaxy watch 4 is supposed to be water resistant and has a mode called water lock and heared that people's watchs where still dieing after using it to track swimming. I don't know how a software feature on my watch is protection my watch from dieing lol
@@darkherosolidox i also have a galaxy watch and water lock only locks the touchscreen so the water won't click some random things, thats it. And if it's locking all the seals, why they're not locked in the first place? My car also has frameless windows and it dosen't need any car wash mode
Linus looks a little different
The beard is back
Those facial treatments he was talking about were really effective
mf grew his beard back and thought we wouldn't notice
I was about to comment the exact same thing 💀
I wonder what AI program they are using to make his face look a bit different

Hopefully he's learned better by now.
I can't fathom how anybody could say something like that with a straight face.
@@NeilHaskins He's been making these promises for years, tesla robots were supposed to end poverty on earth according to him. Game was rigged from the start, kid.
Entitled out of touch CEO mindset.
You'd think the hyper technological cyber car with all its sensors and computing power would be able to automatically engage car wash mode upon detecting the car is being washed/contacted by water
Like Blizzard said - "The technology just isn't there yet" XD
Or you know, it could just... not break when water touches it haha
Or, and hear me out, you can make your car to be like every other car on the road, EVs included, to not break if it goes into the car wash in the first place.
@StefanRial The parking brake is a mechanical device that actually requires mechanical input from a human, because it operates without electricity or hydraulics. Simplified, it's a cable attached to a clamp, when you engage the parking brake the cable tightens up on the clamp and it squeezes your axle so the car has a better chance of not moving unintentionally. Parking brakes can serve a few functions, and one is as a fail safe in case your brakes (hydraulics) or electrical system fails, the parking brake is separated from both those systems.
Newer cars that don't have a physical shifter, and have just buttons instead, could automatically put the car in park if they detected the driver getting out of the car, but cars with a physical shifter would still require human input to actually put the car in park. My 1999 4Runner has weight sensors in the front seats, but it would be 100% be unable to engage the parking brake or shift the car into park by itself.
So no, just because a car can detect a seated driver does not mean the car can also engage mechanical systems by itself.
I've never seen a car that needed a car wash mode lol
Ironic that they advertised it like "it works on other planets, like Mars!" Mars might be the only environment it could survive in for any length of time.
P.S. Thanks for all the cool Mars facts and reasons why the truck would eat it and die on Mars as well.
It gets stuck driving up hills, Mars is exceptionally rocky and steep terrain.
If there's liquid water on Mars it would have a very high pH, and the thing isn't soap resistant. And you certainly have high radiation, which it also doesn't like.
Actually there is a small amount of sub surface brine and perchlorates that'd get kicked up by driving on it, causing corrosive pitting of the underbelly
Which could be easily remedied by not using stainless steel and painting the underbelly.
@@kelmanl4 And added with the dangerously low temperature (below negative 100C) on Mars, the battery and the bearing lubricant for the motors and wheels will quickly freeze and will require intense amount of heat to keep things up and running as normal, significantly reduce its range
@@sihamhamda47 Yeah, there's a reason Nasa didn't just buy some RC cars, duct tape, and handheld cameras from Radio Shack and schlap em into the payload.
does it also have a rainy day mode
How about a "sudden random puddle" mode?
This comment is so good lol.
oh and a northern drizzle mode
Designed in California, so rain probably not supported
I don't know if it's enough to wreck the electronics, but if CybertruckTM happens to meet a little bit of rain, drizzle, puddle or some bird poop, you are instructed to immediately clean it/dry it, because otherwise it will start to rust. Also, you can't leave it out in the sun either. It's the first truck ever to apparently be indoors use only.
The scariest part about the accelerator getting stuck in those trucks, is the fact that they are so fast that you could get to over 100 mph before you know what to do
For anyone who hasn't, you really need to drive a decent EV, the acceleration is phenomenal. sub4s 0-60 times.
After 60 its acceleration isn’t close to what it was before 60. But what I fear is hitting the pedal or another malfunction that causes you to go from 20 to 60 into a pedestrian.
And don’t forget it’s a stainless steel tank that can obliterate any smaller cars
@@jivewig It also sits high enough to just ride up over the main crash structure of something like a sedan. Instead of impacting the typical crumple zones, the A/B pillars and roof take the brunt of the impact and will either bend over or just sheer.
I think the problem is unlike an ICE car you can't just turn off the engine
The problem with the accelerator pedal was caused by Tesla not putting the vehicle into carwash mode before they applied the soap lubricant.
There's a sucker born every minute. Tesla found 3870 of them so far
I feel like I got brain damage reading the cope on twitter by these people.
Hey geniuses. You know how Tesla sales were way down first quarter? Then he laid off entire supercharger team? And cancelled the massive charging infrastructure?
I'm sure you all had your opinions and comments.
You know what's at fault?
This is only THE EV company in the industry that is 90% of the whole damn thing.
What's at fault...is you.

Remember the movie "Signs"? Remember how we all laughed about how stupid the aliens were coming to such a massively watery planet when they were vulnerable to water? Maybe they built the Cybertruck.
Maybe the Cybertruck evolves into a stupid alien that loves ketamine
Ohh Dan Show clips. My favorite part of the week
I think the podcast should be Linus + Dan fulltime.
Acceleration Override is the feature they are talking about. Virtually all vehicles since the 90s when gas peddles started to be separated from the throttle on the engine have been equipped with it. What Acceleration Override does is it the ECU detects that you are pressing on the brakes AND the gas at the same time it will assume there is a fault in the accelerator and ignore the accelerator. Allowing you to brake appropriately. The ECU will not accept input from the accelerator again until it has been reset to the neutral position. This happened to me once with my 2005 Pacifica. The gas peddle got stuck to the floor when I floored it to get on the freewa. As soon as I put my foot on the brake the car immediately stopped accelerating and wouldn't again until the gas peddle reset. Simply kicking it popped it back up and I was able to continue driving. Still no idea why it did that.
Bad Design/ Worn Parts. A few years ago a VW was in my way and not moving, when i got out to talk to the driver he was loosing his mind thinking his car is broken because his clutch pedal was stuck in the down position. I pulled it back with my hand and advised him to not push it through all the way and have it looked at. If i remember correctly, a loose bolt was the culprit in that case.
Currently, a friend of mine drives a 98 audi. If he slides off the brake and presses the accelerator he shifts the brake pedal in such a way it won't disengage completely, and he will slightly brake the whole time.
My Toyota Celica liked to get stuck when flooring it. My instinct was to break and it had little enough power that that stopped it quickly and then I could tug up the pedal.
But what if I want to do a burnout
@@carsonj4031 you pull a fuse, reprogramm the Control unit, or disable the switch
Weird. My '09 Insight doesn't even do that. I'm cool with that, it's surprisingly analog for an old hybrid.

@@DizzyBusyBecause it'd be stolen and you'd no longer have to own a Cybertruck
The truck that can't be used outside seems from an old dad joke... Are they unveiling an inflatable dartboard in the next quarter?
Sometimes, people make fun of city trucks, the kinds that can't take on hard off-road paths, mud, and floods. Then Tesla one-uped it all by making a truck that can't even deal with washing, light rain, bird poop and apparently accelerating.
"Two pounds a liter in the America that is on the other side of the pond" is such an amazing statement.
It's very common in manufacturing to use soapy water to slip on parts. The actual flaw is an incredibly stupid design where the cover slips down over the pedal, meaning the the driver's foot is constantly pushing it loose. The lubrication helped expose the flaw early because otherwise we'd only be hearing about loose pedals a year or two from now.
I”m better that where it’s used, it’s actually approved. Not just a guy on the line with “hey, let’s try this”.
Funny enough, Dan's suggestion is exactly how Tesla is "fixing" the issue with the recall. They're just drilling and setting a rivet at the bottom of the pedal.
😂
That sounds like something I did to my 1986 hinda CRx when I was 16
Do you need car wash mode in heavy rains? Could it survive a Canadian winter or will ice gets everywhere inside?
From what I recall the car has to be put into "car wash mode" if you are planning on leaving the car inactive in the rain.
@Kannamoris what the hell?
What if its outside overnight and it rains ?
@@umersalman1That sounds like a you problem, my man. Enjoy the six figure brick.
"Could it survive a Canadian winter"
Ah, good joke. I live in Eastern Canada, where winter is more brutal than in BC, and every metal parts of a car will begin to rust after like two winters if you're not very cautious (my brakes were stuck because of rust not long ago and I had to repair them, my car is barely 4 years old and I don't drive that much), there's no way a completely stainless steel exterior can can even survive a single winter without rusting to nothingness if a single heavy rain can kill it.
Pretty much all existing Teslas have a design flaw where car washes and heavy rain can get sucked into the AC filter intake which results in debris causing a bad smell in the filter until replaced. It's incredible that their "heavy duty" truck not only retains this design flaw, but worsens it by causing actual damage to core electronics and not just causing a smell.
Rich and another big car youtuber actually have a videoa showing how that happens. It amazes me anyone actually owns a Tesla.
It's fun seeing a cyber truck in LA every once in a while and wondering to myself, "I wonder if they regret their decision yet."
Just look for signs of rust. If you see it, yep they definitely regret it. If you don't, they still do but can keep up the denial.
And yet a 100-year old Model T will just keep on going...
The recall is because the double sided tape failed. The tape that holds the metal facade to the plastic part. Boy if that isn't Tesla in a nutshell.
That's ridiculous. Using tape to hold a pedal together? It shoulda just been a solid piece!
Oh, did Linus lose the battle between who goes the longest without missing a WAN show? I feel like this needed an official announcement.
He managed about half before giving way to nap-time wherever his hotel was.
@@Metal_Maxine Well I suppose that is acceptable. The challenge continues.

Imagine needing to put your car in a mode to be able to handle basic weather
You don't. This is clickbait and you eat it up.
I'm convinced they designed the cyber truck 100% off someone who lives in a suburb somewhere in California with a desk job. Didn't take into account a single person who works with their truck.
Didn't Elon want to make the cybertruck work as aboat at one point?
It still blows my mind that someone actually bought one of those. Also, Dan should permanently take over the left chair.
Our left or their left? I think Dan should replace Luke. Linus + Dan would make for a better podcast than it is now.
You aren't very clever, are you? The one he has temporarily taken over?
In the beginning, overlooking the unacceptable trash assembly of the Tesla vehicles was mostly tolerable for a startup SOFTWARE company that decided to make CARS with NO experience. Now, however, it is COMPLETELY unacceptable for this kind of crap to happen. They have the ability to look at all these other car manufacturers and take notes, and also just not be dumb about the engineering and assembly part???? For the truck, did they think people were going to keep it in their living room?? It's not got waterproof connectors for the harness or something? What?
Considering it can get rusty from rain, washing, a normal amount of sunlight or bird poop, it's not even a case of them not improving previous design flaws, but actually getting far worse.
@@ggwp638BC also, don't forget to turn on the "car whash mode" in the settings before a heavy rain, or whashing your car, nobody wants a shiny U$100000 brick

Dan is pure gold. Please give this man more candid screen time. He is better than Linus on for WAN show. Also glad to see Emily making a return on the recent video

When the car is in "wash mode"; does it still move? Because if not, and it's reasonable to assume that a big storm with heavy rain could act like a hose or car wash, wouldn't that mean this car can't be driven in heavy rain?

All current cars will cut acceleration if both brake and gas are pushed at the same time. Service braking system
with cleaning the delorean dmc 12 my uncle had one years ago and the owners manual says to clean it with petrol so its not just a thing that people realised worked thats what the manufacturer said
My wife walked in behind me while watching this and asked, "Did they hire Luke's brother?" I hadn't really noticed how much Luke and Dan looked alike other than hair color :)
John DeLorean was an engineer first and foremost and he loved innovating. He invented a lot of cool technologies that we now consider normal when he worked at GM, and so many features on the DMC-12 were designed to solve common problems for the benefit of the owner. He used gull-wing doors to make it easier to get out in tight parking spaces. And he used stainless steel to eliminate rust and make the car last longer. Tesla is all about gimmicks and doesn't think about consumer value or even reparability, so they cannot be compared to DeLorean.
I've seen posts where decent thunderstorms are also nuking these things if they're not under a cover.

This show is great when Linus is not there
Maybe they called it the "Cyber" truck because it only worked in AutoCAD.
even if they didnt add the lube/soap there was no screw or bolt so that glue could of let go anyways there should of been some sort of mechanical connections
Remember, when you're buying a Tesla you're paying full price to be a beta tester. So a truck sold on the premise that would be indestructible, can be rendered useless by a bit of water?
04:19 Around half of my guitars had that done at some point during assembly and we're talking wood and glue.
