Hello Willie and Sarah (& of course the pups), I'm late to this one but totally concur with the poor weather in the UK through June. I'm late because I took a visit up to relatives in Crail which is not too far from where you guys originally stayed - lovely part of the UK but everywhere takes at least 30 mins to get to be car 😉. Also visited the West Coast (Helensburgh / Balloch) where my sadly departed wife and I first met - an emotional trip. Hopefully you enjoyed some of the lovely sunshine I experienced on the East Coast when I visited! Cheers, Kevin.

I’ve had success topping potato plants with straw. Wondering if those trees at the other side of the water are natural species or part of forestry that will be felled at some point? Any chance you could to an explore to top of that Forest Hill?

I love making elderflower cordial too! A Tip - I have found that letting the syrup cool down to about blood temperature before immersing the flowers enhances the perfumed elderflower flavour significantly.

Hi, we've just had my dream holiday on Islay, Mull and Skye. It was all as wonderful as I expected but the weather was worst on Skye! So much rain, heavy, sideways, torrential! But despite that it was a joy to be there when we could see the stunning mountains and gorgeous Glen's. The bonus of the weather was the stunning waterfalls! Thank you for your lovely videos, we always enjoy seeing where you've been and what you and the pups have been up to! 😊

Do not put the ashes in the compost, please. The ph value of the ash is too high for compost and that slows down composting.💖

Having same weather in Manchester UK,if we have one day of sunshine it’s followed by days of rain. Elderflower cordial is a real luxury if able to forage, £6 plus for a tiny bottle from farm shops here. Good stock of seasoned wood stocked up👍

Really like the home made planters. If you had room build another one for some flowers or herbs to to make tea or cook with.

My mum used to make elderflower champagne , one year it exploded in the airing cupboard. All the clean, ironed clothes had to be rewashed and ironed 😅😅

Hello from Finland! You can use straw to cover the edges of the potatoes to prevent greening. It is easier and they already have enough soil I think. Have a nice summer!

I've dried elderflowers for tea. You need to take the blossoms off the stalks, spread on kitchen paper on a tray to dry. It's quite strong, you only need a small pinch for tea. Keeps for years!

I use one of those grenade spikes to split gnarly bits of wood but even that is sometimes too much effort so the fire pit is the way to go. Elderflower champagne is pretty good too - we have one of those purple elderflower trees so it makes a lovely pink champagne. Down here in Norfolk it’s allegedly summer but most days we’re still hunkered down. Ah well, plenty of great CZcams to watch.

We have been having a weird weather summer here in Portland, Oregon, too. June was colder than usual. On queue, July 4th hit and now we are scorching hot!
