- Willie, Sarah and their dogs Jack Spaniels & new puppy, Nori, continue their biggest adventure yet - leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to a remote cottage on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.
In this episode, the Skye Lifers head out on the boat for what was meant to be a normal fishing trip - but something far more exciting happened instead..!
Did we catch a glimpse of one of the creatures from Sarah's wildlife wishlist or is it too good to be true?!
Plus, Willie takes you along on a scenic fishing trip while Sarah heads to meet another artist living here o the Isle of Skye with her parents and we take the self-sufficiency of the Skye Life Cottage Garden to the next level by building our very own compost bin, from scratch of course!
Thanks for watching & see you in the next video!

Sarah, Willie, Jack & Nori x
I watched a Nat Geo video called Billy and Molly an Otter Love Story. It is so touching. If you have an opportunity you should watch it.😊
What type of fish was that 🤔, total nube here 😂. Jo Devon 🙂
Sarah's absolute joy at seeing the dolphins brought tears to my eyes. Such clear happiness!
I reckon that Jack Spaniels thinks Dad is building this 'kennel' for him! 😂😂😂
Haha yeah for sure! He has always loved having a den 😅
Was going to say that perhaps Jack is part cat. They love boxes!
Yes , I think he needs a kennel , my dog loved hers 👍
my thoughts exactly! Jack Spaniels needs his own space…. a teenager already!
So cute how Jack wants the bin for his own house!! ❤
Ahaha yeah he has always loved a den!
❤You guys will have to build Jack a dog house....he's loving the temporary one ❤ Sarah brought tears to my eyes with her shrieks and giggles of joy over the dolphins ❤ So wonderful ❤
We watched them here yesterday.
Whenever I have witnessed that kind of show by dolphins, otters, or whales, it never fails to take my breath away!
How special was the dolphin moment! Predicting next build - Jack’s dog house…he was so at home in the compost ❤
Ellise's paintings are amazing! So ethereal. But what i really loved was her pallette. It was an art piece in itself. Also, i agree with everyone, Jack definitely needs his own dog house! A mini-cottage.
Jack just tucking himself up like a little cube of pup in the bin was too cute. The boy needs a doghouse out in the yard. His own little Jack man cave but he may need a sign that says, 'No Nori's Allowed!" lol. What a fun video, Sarah's parents were so sweet.
I don’t think your smile could get any bigger when you saw the dolphins! So fun
So happy that Sarah got her dolphin moment and thank you for sharing Ellis’s art with us, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening big love to you all especially Colin and Liz, nice to meet them x
Dolphins are indeed magical! My last dolphin sighting was on the return voyage from scattering a loved one’s ashes in the Salish Sea. The stormy clouds broke, and the dolphins appeared, and escorted my family most of the way back to the marina. They knew!
Thank you for sharing how GOD sent you the special dolphin escort.
I think Jack might like a doghouse 🏡
Love, love, love Jack Spaniels!! Nori's coming along adorably! Congrats on the fish, Willie, and communing with the dolphins at last, Sarah!!!
Willie your dog wants his own little house..😂..that's another small project for you!He probably wants to escape for a spot of peace from Nori😅
Great episode guys. Was nice to meet Sarah's parents and love watching the fishing episodes. Wonderful looking dinner. Seeing the dolphins was epic.
We are lucky enough to see dolphins occasionally off the Isle of Man. It’s very magical when it happens and being up close in the boat was perfect. I liked the artists paintings at the gallery they were very emotive works. I think Jack thought Willie was building him a new kennel- bless him x
I live in the United Arab Emirates, the country next door is Oman with an area called Musandam (it's kind of like Skye but with burning temperatures). Their are some beautiful fiords with dolphins in the north. One time I went on a tourist boat cruise up there and we found a group of dolphins behaving exactly how they were in your video. They were obviously used to the tourist boat because the captain started clapping and whistling, the dolphins came over and captain opened up the engines. We were crashing along in the waves and the dolphins were playing with us by running alongside the bow and jumping out of the water (nowhere near the propeller!). Super intelligent creatures and so fast!
SUPER COOL!
I'm so glad Sarah finally got to see the dolphins! They really are amazing animals! A suggestion for the compost bin. Regarding the sliding slats, you can put candle wax on both the ends of the slats and inside the crevice they sit in and that will help the boards slide more smoothly. You don't need a lot just enough to give it a thin coat!
I hope your parents enjoyed their time on Skye.
What a fun episode. Sarah's experience with the dolphins, taking in the art exhibit with Colin and Liz, Willie sneaking ALL THE PUNS into the chapter titles, and Nori photo-bombing as only a spaniel can. Greetings from hot and muggy Tennessee, y'all. Can't wait to be back in Scotland.
I’m so happy you got to see the dolphins- so exciting to be so close. And Willie - I’m very impressed with your building skills.
I loved watching the dolphins in the wild! Have a great week.
Great to see Sarah’s happy face when the dolphins arrived. Your compost bin looks good but the position spoils your beautiful view.
I felt the thrill of seeing dolphins through Sarah's excited smile. Nice video.
Love her paintings, wow!!! You just get lost in the veils of color and "mist." Great video today with fishing, compost bin building and family.
I took my son and grandson magnet fishing to a nearby lake last Sunday, were we found much discarded line, hooks, and lures. Thanking for caring about the environment, Willie, by using carbon hooks. Good man! We brought home all of the detritus and disposed of it properly. Grandson kept one lure and three spinners which he believes might fetch some money on eBay. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.
I love that y’all are so conscientious about possibly hurting the sea animals. I so love the dolphins and whales.
I also love the colors of the artists paintings. They are my favorite, much like under the sea.
Very good to meet your parents too.
Wow, dolphins AND a new kennel (I mean compost bin). Super!
I love spotting dolphins on the Gulf of Mexico here in Pensacola Florida USA
❤❤❤❤❤😊
LOVE LOVE PENSACOLA!! A VERY VERY SPECIAL PLACE. YUM PEG LEG PETES.
I loved Ellis's art, its like she captured the northern lights on canvas 😍 I couldn't pick a favourite lol.
Well done Willie on catching the fish and making the compost bin, your fish and chips photo made me hungry 😅 it looked really good.
And it was lovely to see Sarah's parents, you can see where she got her love of art from, they both seem very knowledgeable and interested in art.
I got weirdly emotional when Willie asked Sarah 'what are you looking at Sarah?' And she turned round and said 'dolphins' *so* happy and excited, I could feel it, and it did bring a lump to my throat I don't mind telling you lol.
Thanks again for another lovely video 🤗
26:23 ❤❤❤👏👏👏Thank you for being an ethical fisherman!
Nice to see you’ve got a nice couple of bollocks Willie, and on your light tackle. I am sure Sarah must be proud of you!
Oh heck, anyone got a keyboard that doesn’t identify as dyslexic? Sorry I meant POLLOCKS! ;-(
Best typo ever! 😂
🤣🤣🤣 Best comment ever!!!
Thanks for braving the elements and doing the waiting so we could all wonder at the dolphins! The joyful laughter and gasps said it all.
Dolphins wont get near your propeller. I see them all the time where I live. They like to ride the wake of your boat. I’m so happy you got to see them. It never gets old
Ellis's paintings are just sublime! What a talent, and it must be even more powerful seeing them in real life. After Willie's hard work, those fish and chips looked delicious.
Love "Hermitage Bridge" and the percussive chord changes/slides that seem essential to the music. So much to love in the vlog. Jack in the compost bin, Sarah's parents, the artist and her gorgeous work, the dolphins, Willie getting the biggest fish... hands down the best episode to date! And I can just imagine Nori and Jack digging in the smelly compost!
Ahaha Nori got in and ate a whole squishy tomato before we decided to make the slats higher 🤣🤣🤣
The dolphins were just beautiful and how lucky to be that close. The paintings were unreal and would be nice to have one of those on my wall!. So Jack thinks you have built a large kennel for him-lol.
Hi Sarah and Willie. Wow great to see Dolphins. Jack seems to want his own Kennel 😄 Take care. Nick
I loved Ellis O'Connor's work, Its ethereal. Thankyou for sharing it with us Sarah x
I am so pleased that you guys got to see the dolphins and Minke Whale! It’s when we adults get to become kids again, just squealing with delight. When we went whale watching in the Straight of Georgia, Pacific White-sided Dolphins had a ball swimming and leaping in the bow and stern wake of the boat we were in. It was magical. I wondered if turning your motor on and starting to move is what drew your dolphins back to you? Perhaps they were looking for some fun? I don’t believe that we have to kill the motor around dolphins, but perhaps it’s the law in Scotland? We do, however, have to keep a large distance between ourselves and whales, and we do turn off the motor and enjoy the spectacle. Once again, another rich and playful offering from Sarah, Willie, Jack, and Nori. Thank you ❤
Seeing those dolphins was very cool. You live in a magical place.
🐬beautiful, how blessed you were, our dolphin buddies gave a lovely show🐬
One of those paintings reminded me of a waterfall I once saw which was high enough that the water flowing off was more of a vapour by the time it got to the bottom.
Seeing dolphins out in the wild (not as part of a guided boat trip) is definitely something very special.
Wow!!!! Loved the dolphins & Sarahs reaction. Enjoyed watching you fish for dinner Willie & glad that you caught something. Nothing like fresh fish caught & crumbed and chips made at home. Great work on the compost bin too. So enjoyed this video. Ohhh!!!! The art work in the gallery was amazing. Jack made me laugh with his antics while you were building the bin. Hope you guys have a great week.
Never thought of dolphins in Scotland. Good to meet your mum and dad Sarah
Another vote for a house for Jack x such a great blog, loved Sarah’s reaction to the dolphins they really put on a show for you all xx
A palace for composting well done Willie
Sarah your happiness at seeing the dolphins was so good to see
Fish & chips looked so yummy 👍
So nice to “meet” Sarah’s parents! Love Dolphins! 🐬❤️. I use wire for my compost bins - it allows aeration. 😊
Love those dolphins -- they've been my favourite animal since I was a young boy. Glad you got to see them -- you were so excited!
Great compost bin. Sarah next step is getting your wetsuit on and swimming with the dolphins. X
Congrats Sarah on your dolphin sighting I think they were waiting so you could share them with your mum...it is such a wonderful thing to be that close to nature I once sat for three hours with my nephew at a campsite on Deer Island N.B. Canada listening to whales and dolphins swimming in the bay ...it was a still night and you could hear them blowing...it was magical ...Jack looked like he wanted a sign that read "all black spaniel's only"on the side of that bin....looking forward to next week Karl from eastern Canada
So much fun!!! Again!!! Art, compost, sea life, and chickens!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Such joy seeing the dolphins.jack needs to have a dog house haha.great catch willy wooow.Sarah your parents are as lovely as you ❤❤❤
As you say seeing dolphins in the wild is so special. Husband and I have seen them off the Black isle at Chanonry point, we even managed to get photos of them leaping out the water.
Lovely episode. So nice to meet Sarah's parents, Ellis and the many fish and dolphins. Great compost bin as well. Wow. Thank you so much. 💜 I have the feeling Jack will sit in the compost bin shade if he cannot stay in it. Loves it.
Great episode , so pleased Sarah got her wish to view dolphin's in the wild . Keep them coming folk's
Hello Sarah and Willie, another great video today. Great compost build Willie. And catch of your fish. Sarah glad you were able to go visit your parents. And have a good time with them and visit the art museum. Looking forward to your next video.
The compost bin makes a good shelter for jack from the wind but not from the rain. Ha Ha has no roof. Ellie's art remind me of misty water seen. So cool to see the dolphins from the boat. Sarah maybe you could rent a room closer by just thru your time of your art show then you would not have to drive so far every day. To bad Willie couldn't keep all the fish he caught it would of made a very nice meal for days.
Beautiful scenery and enjoyed watching the “Fishing Session” you and Sarah are fun together ❤
Dolfins are attracted to the engine noise, they like to ride the bow wave and will keep out of the way.
Sarah and Willie,
Ellise is an excellent impressionist.
My sister is also an impressionist.
I know how much skill and
long it takes to be able to pull a painting from your own feelings
and imagination.
Sarah, that scene where the colorful chickens were feeding begged to be painted.
Their colors would have been great contrast to the rather gray ground
and the water or mountains behind them.
I know you don't do that kind if thing, but my artist eye begged to photograph
them and work up a painting.:)
Nori is getting bigger and bigger.
The double troublers, I'll call them😁😁
Finally, You Cannae be a gardener without compost which is
a dirty 7 letter word.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Haha maybe I’ll attempt the chicken painting someday 😅
I lo Ed this episode, I'm recovering from Covid and enjoy ed the dog antics very much.Thank you for sharing.
I think jack is hinting he wants an outdoor dog house 😂
Thanks guys for uploading this. That was an amazing episode. The Dolphins were a bonus.👍
amazing as always! only Willie could make building a compost bin into compelling viewing--fascinating to watch the build! and the dolphins were indeed magical to witness. plus, Ellis' paintings--very atmospheric! cheers on all accounts!👏
Sarah I just discovered on another you tube channel give your strawberries while flowering a fertilizer mix (Tomorite). During the flowering and fruiting season strawberries benefit from a high potash feed which can be applied as a liquid (eg. Tomorite) or as a granular fertiliser in early spring (sulphate of potash). As the plants start to flower spread fresh straw under them. This will keep the fruit off the soil and keep it clean. Also if runners should begin to grow from the plant while fruiting, cut them. Only let the runners start growing at the end of the season encouraging the runners to take root and grow more plants. Finally, you could separate the runners and plant them elsewhere. Hope this helps. Well done Willie on catching the fish, may I ask what kind of fish was it? Have a lovely day.
Don’t forgt that Jack and Nori are spaniels- they’re working dogs. You have to give them something to do or they will run amok or wreak havoc. 😅 You might want to invest in a few sheep or raise some waterfowl. They should come back every year to nest.
Sarah's face ☺. Pure joy 🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈. Suggested you'd have more luck with the boats new name .... Careful with what kitchen scraps you put in your compost bin, some stuff attracts rats 🐀. Sending love, light and blessings to you both and the fur babies 🐶🐕 xx
We stay in Sleat every year and quite often sit at the window watching dolphins, the occasional otter, red deer and even the odd mink. We love it there. Best wishes from Dunfermline 🏴
Sounds amazing!! We are planning to get some trail cams to try and capture footage of some of the local wildlife here 😊
Im so happy for you Sarah that you saw the Dolphins that close. Willie you have to make a hoose for Jack. ❤
Thanks!! It was such an AMAZING experience 🥰
@@livingtheskyelifeyes I know. I have been swimming with a wild Dolphin named Dusty in County Clare Ireland years back. I also have a lot of lovely memories of Fungie the Dingle dolphin. Sadly he died some years ago .
Ellis's art ❤ Dolphins CHECK ✔️ Yaaay healthy looking pod 😁❤️❤️
How lucky you were seeing the dolphins! Something I’ve yet to experience, so thanks for sharing. The artists paintings were beautiful and a pleasure to see. Wow Willie! That fish was a whopper! Can you show us how you prepared and cooked it next time please? Looking forward to seeing how the compost bin works out for you. I’ve wanted one for a long time and wondered if it’s worthwhile me making one. Thanks for making my Sunday nights enjoyable from here in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Glad to see the fishing gear got a dust of Wullie...\0/\0/.
Enjoyed it all,.especially the fishing..🎉🎉🎉 well done Wille..
Haha. Did you ever get the compost bin moved or did you have to call “Super Richard”?
Jack Spaniels looked so cute in “his new play pen”.
It was nice meeting your parents Sarah. Your dad looks like an older version of Willie.
What kind of fish was that Willie caught? Dinner looked yummy.
I guess I have to wait till next week to find out more on “Living the Skye Life”.
This is a fabulous video. It is not possible to ever get tired of dolphin watching. The minke whale, a real bonus. Willies fish, a beauty. The paintings, exquisite. You both seem to have the knack of bringing joy to our otherwise bland lives. Congratulations. When will Willie release a full album of his music?
Everything about this episode made me happy. Dolphins and Jack and Nori! It doesn't get much better than that. AND... I've just subscribed to Wild for the deodorant refills and a lip balm. I bought the deodorant after you mentioned it a few months back and it's a fantastic product! Thanks for bringing it to our attention and for the discount code. 😉😊 Ellis' art was absolutely beautiful!
Ah amazing! Hopefully you love the lip balm as much as the deodorant. We love having our wee personalised cases 😊
Just a wee suggestion regarding the compost bin. Good compost requires aeration. Some people leave gaps between the planks when building. May I suggest a series of holes be drilled around your structure from the ground to the top. These then will assist in aeration. Love the channel, especially the dogs and the boating shots. You both are very talented people. Take care. I'm looking forward to future episodes. Sarah from Tasmania
Omg as if there is a Mary poppins restaurant love it, glad you got to see Walt’s light properly ❤ I am saving up to go there now
Lucky you all to catch seeing the Dolphins 🐬, we went all the way to Iceland, to see whales & Dolphins, but nothing 😢. Not even the lights . But it was beautiful . Great video 👍.
Another lovely video! So happy for you Sarah seeing the dolphins. That would have been quite a thrill. It was also lovely to see the artist’s work there at the gallery. Love her work. Your parents gave a very vibrant description of her work. Stayed at that hotel last year, and now have prints hanging on my walls here at home in Toronto from the artist that was resident there at the time. Beautiful place and the view so very beautiful. I’m also from Dundee too. Nice coincidences. ❤
Hi guys,Great idea for the compost bin,Thats gold.
Living the dream. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Mom, great choice!
The way you set out your videos is awesome...a bit of everything involving living on Sky. Tnx for the way you present that wonderful part of the world. We would love to be able to travel there one day.
Willie, your music accompanying the videos is just perfect.
Get some compost activator to speed up the composting process😉
Greetings from Johannesburg 🇿🇦
Very enjoyable video, Sarah visiting the art gallery was very interesting, some lovely pictures and meeting her parents was lovely! She was so excited to see the dolphins, it was quite emotional, lovely scene. You are making a good job of your compost box Willy, very impressive with your handy work. That meal of fish and chips looked very delicious, especially when it was caught by yourself, it couldn’t have been any fresher! Well done!😋😁
The dolphin experience was super emotional! We were amazed by how close they came 🤩
You lot mak my Sunday ❤
Aww thanks so much!!
How fun fir your parents to see the dolphins too!
Love that Defender; so mechanical and Cool!!!!
Another great video!! Seeing the dolphins was spectacular🐬🐬. You guys have the greatest videos, with such
a lot of different events. Thanks again for sharing your life on Skye!😃
Love your videos Sarah and Willie! That was the best openhearted smile of joy when the dolphins were with you Sarah. I've followed you since you were moving to Skye and today I felt I really saw the "why" that had you choose to live there. Always feel so calm when I listen to today's music Willie . Thank you for such a great channel.
Aww thanks so much!! The dolphins were such an amazing experience - we couldn’t believe it 😊
Another fab episode guys, thank you! So lovely to see Sarah’s parents too, they are naturals! 🥰
P.S. I know you already have enough troubles doing the outro (😂) but don’t forget to mention at some point that we can all help the channel by watching the ads in full. It’s not generally well known and for those of us who would love to support the channel, but simply can’t afford actual cash, it’s a good way for us to help.
Ah thanks!! We might include it at some point, but we also know how annoying the ads can get 😅 We appreciate you watching them all the way through 🤩👍
Thanks for sharing the beautiful dolphin images
I was at the beach one day beside Channory Point with my wee daughter and a whole family swam slowly past us. Dad, Mum and baby dolphin 🐬 The tide was already in, so the main pod was further west.
Just listen to the beautiful bird sounds ... music to my ears. So green and beautiful.
So happy you were able to see the dolphins. Willie I need your CD love the music.
Great stuff & Willie a composer to composter unique.😊 keep up the good work👍
Thank you for sharing the dolphins 🥰
Jack spaniels is planning on starting own B&B😂
Great video as usual 👌it’s great when you get to see the dolphins 🐬 a friend of mine got married in loch Coruisk a few years ago now. It was a lovely day in May we went over in fishing boats and the dolphins 🐬 gave us a great show on the way back to Elgol. As always take care and stay safe ❤
