Overhauling Freeman Hatch and Hydro Tank Pt.1 - Emerald Isle: Ep.100 Fishing Boat Refit Backlog
This is a backlog video, it was filmed quite some time ago, so some things may not look as complete as they are in real-time.
Hi, everyone! Today, we are overhauling our old hatch cover. We start taking it apart in preparation for making it like new again. We also rehab our used hydraulic tank, which is going to become our new steering fluid tank. We start by working on the old ports, grinding them down, and filling them with plugs that will be welded in.

how is your top strength with weight of snow ?
great video
You guys will continue to grow. I bet in not to many years you will hit 250,000. You have a great thing going.
Thanks Phil. We are slowly rolling up on 80K. Pretty exciting!
What is the relationship between the three of you
Mom, dad and two sons.
Do processors cut the tongues out of cod like we do in Newfoundland Canada
Why'd you just keep they fish that you are throwing back into the water and keep them as baits
Super cool
Good
Imagine that, don't want you filming on the ocean. You have to be hiding Is some sort of violation at that dock..
Guessing they use a pin for easy/speed of assembly because they just put it in the jig and press the pin in, No monkeyintg around with a torque wrench to tighten to spec. Yeah wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald as I live in Michigan. They surmise that filed hatches made it take on water and break up under the increased load of water.
The government love digging in folks' pockets.
Totally agree with Mats comments at the end there regarding the dent in the tank, superb video guys.
Do you guys notice if you had any change in the amount of fish caught hauling from the side
A single sight glass is a well planned strategy move. With the tank now being a single use reservoir you can expect years of trouble free performance. Love the way you plan for all the it's and future wants. Kudos
Thank you! It is nice to know there is a dedicated hydro tank for steering and another for all deck equipment. I feel like it was a ticking time bomb in it's former configuration.
7 layers of heaven. Magical looking..
Ok! We need a name on here for us good folks. What about " THE EmeraldS "? This community on here is amazing, Having compassion love and respect in this world is like having gold. I've never done boat work. I fished all my life. So I don't say anything on the boat stuff.I'm a pipe fitter by trade fire sprinkler Forman. I'm a master at making walking sticks, Staffs & custom canes , I've done some amazing work wood wotk. I carve them for our Elderly in any veterans.I do it for the people, ALL FREE!! to those that gave so much for all of us to be present at this time in History .
@ 22:00 either you're making popcorn in the background or it's raining some pretty big raindrops. 😅 Even though it takes a little more work I think removing the unused ports and sealing them up would be the most effective way of getting rid of them. Len, please be sure to flush the tank with hot soapy water after you flush the chips out if you using a solvent, I'd hate hear that the tank exploded when you were welding it.
Again, do you have an engineering background? Sending love and blessings from Tennessee. Country boy out. Let's give a round of applause to Mrs Anita for ditching the bus, and now editing videos for us.. 👏
that's a small tank for all the hydrolysis why dont you jus a bigger tank for cooling
There was only the small tank when we bought her. Now there is a dedicated tank for the deck, about 50 gallons.
😊😊😊😊😊
nice
Great thinking on flipping the tank over so you don't have to worry about leaks. Plus you have a large fill opening and venting. Great work 😊. Can't wait to see the engine room video with everything cleaned out and rearranged.
Yall have one of the CZcams channels I look 👀 most forward to it wouldn't bother me to have a video of yall every day with yalls adventures I love that yall do so much as a family and I'm sure with this bigger boat 🚢 yall can stay out longer and be more comfortable with mama along lol 😆
Thank you so much Phil. That means a lot to us and we really appreciate it!
Excellent video things are looking good stay safe my friends
A full lvl and a low lvl sight glass would be nice and easy reading
hope all are well the sunm is shinning here and it's beautiful.
If that seals out water is it worth the risk I am just wondering you know I care about you guys and want you to be safe
Episode 100!!
Yaaa I’m first here
Yall got that real "Garden of Eden ". Why? Because it provides Real substitutes. Love from middle Tennessee .
Good
Great advert ❤
Thank you!
Can’t wait to get some 🇺🇸👍👍👍
😊😊😊😊😊
Awesome!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Ready and waiting for some halibut action!
Why they put shot glasses n the mast?
Lead shot, not shot glasses. lol! It was to slow the roll of the vessel, not so snappy that way. We added weight when we put up the sodium lights, about 200 pounds, so that compensated for removing the lead.
@@EISAlaska dam auto correct lol
Haha! Too funny ;)
Can’t come fast enough!
Can't wait 👏👏👍👍🙏🙏🙂🙂
Once again, yall have another fail-safe with Is multiple pumps. .Love from Tennessee
Hi Guys Awesome job and loved the unveiling! She looks a lot bigger now, and even more of a beauty. I was wondering how you plan to run your hydraulics. Will you run the hoses under the false deck for the reel and hauler? How about steering and propulsion? I'm sure you have that all figured out already, I was just trying to get a picture how it would look. I can't wait to see her out in the open waters from a drone angle. I'm so excited for you guys. Congrats on a beautiful job!!!! Karl
Thank you Karl. Hydros to reel will just get run on deck or across boom and down to reel. Steering lines run through a chase located on starbord side of vessel. I will show them when we get a engine room update put together.
@@EISAlaska Ok I see. Thanks for the reply😀
I wonder how much weight, a Tesla motor could pull.. 😂 . I might be on to something. All the horse torques.
I learned from yall , if it comes over yalls rail, you have to measure it..
sand fleas, are what nightmares are made from. They look a giant Cockroaches.. 👀
We'll be glad to see y'all fish from that boat.. y'all be blessed 🙏💗😎☕☕☕☕💕
