- Today we are cutting down the length of our stabilizer poles. The excess length is needed for trolling fisheries in southeast Alaska that we won't be participating in.
We want to say a big thank you to our Patrons and all others who have sent us gifts or have purchased our seafood. Also to all you viewers who have watched, liked, subscribed, and commented on our videos. You all make us so happy and proud to share our way of life with you.
In this series, you'll find us doing many different things to refit the boat. From framing and fiberglassing to fabrication and welding.

The boat is looking good. You have come a long way with her. Can't wait to see her in action.
y'all keep on that boat is goin to be stream line and the work you guys have done has made it worth twice of what y'all paid for it nice job. Guys and mom y'all rock.
You guys are hard-working, I admire that
I worked on our Florida stone crab boat and did they scallops late at night and I know fishing is a hard job
You guys are admirable
This family is the best ever, with all the turmoil in this world, this is like a breath of fresh air! They just roll their sleeves and getter’ done! We love this family!
I enjoy watching y’all doing what you do! I can hear nothing but love in your voices and it’s so refreshing to hear! I pray for y’all and your vessels to be profitable in 2024 and beyond!
You guys do fantastic work your boat looks amazing. From the day you got the boat, to now what a boat. Fantastic job Wow.
Thank you very much!
Every little bit helps . You Folks are doing and awesome job . Lost my wife in June and always enjoy your boat work . Keeps me out of trouble :-) All the best for this new year from the East Coast of Canada , Nova SCotia !
So sorry to hear that Alexander. Glad we can provide you with some distraction at least. Take care and best wishes.
Looks good!!! Hard work in cold weather... great job!!!
Sure is! Its been in the single digits the last 2 days. 🥶
Great job y'all!!
Good show thank you all
Sure would of been a sight to see her trawling lines out. Shes looking good I really like the look of her now with her new facelift. Cant wait for the plastic to come off and the new bulwarks put on shes gonna fish as good as she looks.
Wonderful. Looks good. Reminds me of flagpole my father erected in our front yard back in the early 60's. He built it from scatch with a long and straight douglas fir tree. Block and tackle was used to raise and lower it for painting and maintenance. He was handy too. You guys do such a good job and certainly not afraid of tackling what needs to be done.
All I can say is WOW! A wonderful family video. EIS rocks.
Wow, thank you! Take care.
Looking forward to being able to buy some rockfish from you
I can’t believe how much cleaner it looks. Nice job family!
Thanks for the video.
That was cool 😎
Good work. Thanks for taking us along.

I know where that theme music comes from :D
I love it go folks!,
Looks like Mom needs an EIS flag and flagpole to find the boat.
Haha, good idea!
Cool...
You guys are not afraid to tackle anything. Not sure what you are doing today but I am sure it will improve the EI.
Finish cutting off the other ends mounted near the bow. Make use of the cables at your place .
We’re going to build aluminum forestays for them once we wrap up some other stuff.
Great job done on Boat - always Great works you all do. Hubby and I follow/watch. Sometime when we get to come home we can check out your boats❤
Hi guys, why oh why didn't you use the fish cutting tables advised on the port sign? 🙂
Boat is looking really nice.
Hope the snow missed you for damage.
Hey, Matt, I like your glasses sunglasses. Do they fit over your normal glasses? Because I wear glasses too. And I really like your show.
I didn't notice if you have the name of the vessel on the bow or stern yet. Lots of work on that pole to get it to where you want it.
Don't need them that long if your not trolling. Many would take the pole tips off for other fisheries, and put them back on for trolling. I've seen a few pole tips go under water in bad weather. Less chance of them breaking when they are shorter.
Yeah thats for sure. They’d wobble all over the place when they were long. Just really hard to manage all that weight.
Long jig poles. Must of had a bunch of lines when she fished Albacore.
Thanks for the video.i always appreciate y'all's content.so do you have to have them stabilizers because of the type of boat it is or ? Could you just take them all the way off just wondering but the boat is coming along just fine but are you going to keep the canopy on or how are y'all planning on setting up the long line wheel I am ready to see the completion of the boat been a while as we all know it takes time to rehab anything and still work same time maybe I didn't ask everything the right way but maybe you'll understand what I am asking lol I talked texted everything I don't have my glasses on thank you y'all for the awesome time
We could take them off if we wanted but life is good with them in a choppy sea. The canopy in the center we’ll likely remove just for offloading catches and gear. The aft shelter will stay on for the time being.
Great video all. For the uninitiated (i.e. me) what do the stabilisers stabilise? And how do they work? Many thanks.
Sure, they are basically a board that exerts downward pressure when the boat is moving forward. This pulls down on either pole and stabilizes the boat in a rolly sea state.
@@EISAlaska Many thanks!
Do you have to plug the hole where you cut off the top to keep the out rigger from filling with water.
The bottom of the poles aren’t capped so we’re good for now. However we’ll be fabricating a pad-eye for forestays, top line and the staby fish to come off of and at that time we’ll cap the end.
@EISAlaska You guys are doing a top notch job on the refit and I can't wait to see how the boat fishes. Are you going to rename her .
Yep, we did right after we bought her, she’s called Emerald Isle.
Are these not run on a power winch of some type?
Did you get Bluetooth mic's?
Can you explain what they are and what they do pls. It looks like the shrimp boat in forest gump and I know you don’t do shrimp
Formerly they were to spread out trolling lines in southeast. Thats why they were so long. But since we dont have that kind of fishery here its not necessary for them to be that long. Now they’ll just function as stabilizing poles when at sea.
Too funny , if it takes 4 people to let down a outrigger pole how many to screw in a light bulb. Ha Ha
“Safety first “ specially working in snow...
Soon?
I don’t understand why you are cutting the poles, I would have thought that with the size of the boat, the longer stabilizer poles would be needed to do a proper job when they were in the water.
Nah, the extra length only made them unwieldily. The length we cut them to is still plenty long to provide ample stabilization with the fish in the water.
