Awesome work. You are both real cfaftsmen doing very nice work. Really look forward to your videos. Thanks for the effort to film and edit and post. Dan
Guys grate job it is good to see a family pull like you gyes do
Len, there are machines that bend box section tubing, but they are well outside the budget of a do-it-yourselfer. She's coming along quite well, can't wait to see her doing what she's made for.
Looking good guys. Can’t wait to see her out fishing
Can't wait either! 😃
Gorgeous ❤ I think it's pretty awesome also that you taught Matt the phrase from my generation " Not too Shabby!!" LOL That definitely put a smile on my face.Because it's not something.I hear too often anymore.
Reminds me about the old timer being shown a fantastic piece of engineering kit that was accurate to 0.01mm. Not impressed, the old timer said "In our day, we had to be spot on". :-)
Dad is a master of all trades very proud of him
Really nice work guys.
Greetings from Misery Bay 🏴☠️
Northern Denmark
i cant wait to see it done and out fishing!
Guys she's looking great! Y'all might start getting requests to make improvements to other people's boats now.
We've been asked a couple times during this project if we were looking for work. Had to decline though, haha!
Emerald Isle sure is coming on leaps and bounds all thanks to Len and Matts ingenuity, well done guys.
Great work on the boat. You guys are quite the craftsmen and fabricators. Love the enginuity! I can't wait to see it out fishing and overflowing with your catch! Funny... a passing grade, I hope to shout it is!
Haha, cheers Kerry!
You guys do some really beautiful work I love the way everything has turned out for you guys. Stay safe and healthy be looking forward for the next video your friend Edward. Bye bye.
We built and installed aluminum Bullworks and railings on the Gladys R in the early 70's. Butch Huggard was the welder/fitter. Butch &his wife Alice just spent last week in Kodiak after leaving the island for 40 years
You are awesome . Always pleased when you post a new vid . Thanks
I appreciate that! Thanks, Kevin!
Nice work boys, things are looking good. What a crew, outstanding. Once again It's really good to see the EMERALD ISLE on it's way to getting back into the swing of fishing again, onwards and upwards boys and let's not forget the driving force behind you, your good lady and mum. Well done, and please keep the videos coming. Best regards from the North East Coast UK
You should be so proud of yourselves, you’ve do a brilliant job on this boat. Can’t wait to see it completed, I’m sure you can’t wait to take her fishing.
Thanks a bunch, Key! We are definitely excited to wrap this project up.
@@EISAlaska I think a lot of us are just as excited to see you on the water hauling fish on board.
I could watch you guys work on the EI all day. I do declare she is looking mighty pretty when you show her from the bow. She looks good from any angle but the bow appears to be finished. I really like the colors that you have used.
Thanks Phil! We agree, the color for the vinyl looks good.
@@EISAlaska the vinyl color is a great blue. I don’t know of any color that would look better.
Great ingenuity, looking good.
Nicely done as always.
Thanks for the update.
You guys have really accomplished something - I imagine when you say “Super happy” really means we are very proud😂
Here we go! Thanks team EIS for the update, she’s looking incredible and see her gaining every time you post! I love the OSHA approved scaffolding! That’s what I use on my carpentry projects 🤣😂
You know I love to comment lol that is looking amazing I thought you were going to paint the aluminum but it looks good like it is great job guys stay safe my friends ❤❤❤❤
Thanks John. I'm not a fan of painting aluminum. I feel it creates a great environment for corrorsion and has to be maintained to look good. Once it gets a dull patina it looks good and won't blind everyone when the sun hits it!
Great work guys
How soon can you get back out there and fish?
Awesome job !
Great work guys emerald isle is looking great keep up the great work
Man it looks great guys! You all have amazing skills. My family drives to the dock to take a peak often hoping to catch a glimpse of the current state. Cheers! erikl.
Thanks Eric. You guys are welcome to stop by and say Hi.
looking good
boat looks great.
you both amaze me on your work
Thank you very much!
Esta muy bien lo que están haciendo
Had to go back and look at the deck when you guys first got it to recall what it looked like. Definintely a risk of falling off the back when very minimal bulwarks.
Boat looks nice, guys.
I appreciate the experience and practical approach that has gone into the work you've all done on the Emerald Isle. She's a thing of beauty and I can't wait to see her fish! Cheers.
Our pleasure! Thanks for commenting and watching, buck!
Looking good can we rake it fishing now can we huh please lol great job really will be excited to see you guys catching fish
Looking good my friends!
Thank you! Cheers, Ed!
Good
I would highly recommend taking a piece of the plastic, a foot square or so, you are welding around and light it to see how it burns. I know some like visqueen will burn with an invisible flame. You get no clue until the whole structure is involved and liquid plastic is dripping on you. Doesn't take much to light it off either.
Great advice, Douglas!
Nice.
😊😊😊😊😊
Wow looking great. 👏👏
👍👍
the new sides that you have welded on need to be painted with something as the sea will rot it away but as far as that it looking good and soon be out working
Paint helps some, but once the aluminum oxidizes, it pretty much protects itself. Most aluminum boats up there are not painted. Their other boat, Fish Tale, looks pretty good unpainted and it’s a lot easier to inspect for corrosion. It’s difficult to get paint to adhere to aluminum. Also, the time and expense in prep, paint, materials and the additional weight are factors to consider. I own a 2003 Tracker Tundra 20’ epoxy-painted aluminum (6061) boat, operated only in fresh water, garaged, and a few areas of the paint have peeled, scratched, scuffed, and filliform corrosion has occurred under the paint around holes and next to the carpet. You can see where I’ve sanded, repaired and repainted those areas.
Reelmoody is spot on about everything. Painted aluminum does not hold up and requires maintence to keep coorosion from forming under the paint. We put the bulwarks on thr Fish Tale back in 2016 and apart from light corrosion around boltholes is like new!
Matt, you and your dad do superlative metal work!!! The bulwark on the "EI" looks very professional and more importantly...sturdy. do you have an ETC (estimated time of completion) before she is fishable? Really love your channel!!!
Thanks, John! She’ll be fishing soon we hope. Lots of odds and ends to wrap up, the small things always take the most time it seems.
Before you take her out for the first time to fish are you going to have someone bestow a blessing on the boat. I know they bless the fleet each year ,are you going to participate in getting the boat and crew blessed.
Read the last comment and I believe Len is Dad, right. Been watching you guys for some time now and just learned you Dads name. So what is your Moms name. Thanks for sharing. I see they cleaned up Miss Britta next door, looks nice. Looking forward to when the Emerald Isle is unwrapped.
You are correct. Mom's name is Anita. Miss Britta is a sharp looking vessel.
Buy the new....done.
That would cost far too much, plus we like doing projects!
You guys do incredible work? You guys are ready for side jobs?
If the side job is fishing, then absolutely! Haha!

Will you be painting the stern?
Nope, we’re leaving the aluminum bare. It’ll oxidize and dull but we don’t mind the look of it.
I love seeing what yall have gotten done but I don't see how yall do it when yall weld 3 inches and stop and talk for 10 minutes lol 😅I know yall got to make the video but .... lol I'm just joking around 😅😊
Lol thanks, Phil!
