    Hello. Love the longlines. I have used some of your ideas for my setup in NC. Just wanted to say thank you for some help you gave me 2 years ago. I asked for some pictures of your longline reel. You sent them and even did a video. I just installed my reel on my boat today. Although a good bit smaller, I'm catfishing, I used your level wind setup to run my mono lines. It works perfectly in the yard. Seatrials are tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help! God bless and good luck from NC!

      Matt and Len are always sharing how and why they do things while fishing ... a few weeks back they showed how the clips and Bazooka tube work on the long line. It can be really fun rolling back on the episodes, working on the boats and crab fishing are VERY cool to watch too ... Just great real stuff to watch and enjoy :)

    Do you guys have a black cod permit (IFQ) I see there fairly cheap up there. What are buyers paying for halibut? Enjoy all your videos and is your plan to use both boats or sale one.

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  Před 4 měsíci

      Nah, no black cod. Maybe someday. We’re going to fish both, not side by side but depending whats going on we can do different fisheries without as much gear shuffling.

    If bait is as expensive as you say, and it's only had one soak, but it's still firm enough to stay on a hook.
    Then why not put it in a vacuum pot full of fish juices, and put the oils and odor factor back into it, and reuse it at least once more?
    Surely something could be devised to force the meat to take the moisture back into it, as to whether it requires a pressure system, or a vacuum system shouldn't be hard to figure out which is more effective at this process, and over a months time would easily return any expenses used to fabricate such a device.
    And the time used to work through the process shouldn't be any greater than chopping up the bait.
    Plus it's very possible that you could leave it attached to the hook as you remove it from the main line, and just drop whole rig into a container used to process it the second time.
    Thus saving time and money which is a major benefit in multiple ways I'd think.
    A vacuum pump is easily available, as is the hydraulic power for a pressure system whichever turns out to most effective at the process.
    Just a thought looking from the outside at possible ways to improve efficiency, and save money both.
    I've always been one to avoid getting caught by following what has been the way everyone has always done things, and to think outside the box so to speak.
    Always looking for ways to improve my skills and knowledge above the average person in my trade, and pass it onto those working with me to improve crew as a team thus increasing efficiency all the way around.
    What's largest barn door y'all have gotten aboard long lining?

    How about you go up one level and tell how much you sell the fish and crabs for. Anybody can catch fish on a long line. It's starting to get boring. Ho-hum.
