that's pretty fruit.
where to get those seed from share some links plzz
is it invasive? im thinking to get some
I wouldn't consider it invasive, no. It does drop a lot of seeds but they don't disperse very far and they can easily be plucked out or moved if needed. Give it a try!
@@inchwormgardens i just ordered the seeds, I'm in.
One of my favorite tomatoes, super sweet and delicious!
Yes, I agree!
what is your fertility protocol for your tomatoes? mygreathanks and blessings
Hello! I just add some slow release fertilizer and bone meal and the time of planting and then some liquid fertilizer every few weeks (or when I remember to...) I don't have a perfect system really. Still figuring it out!
@@inchwormgardens 🙏
Great on pizzas
oooh! Yes! I'll try that this year.
Chip Drop actually has a commercial saying "dont use chip drop" for the exact reason mentioned. You'll get a football field amount if you arent ready for it!
Haha, yes! Love their commercials. It's a fun "problem" to have :)
Is it a perennial? Zone 7b
Hello! It would be grown as an annual in Zone 7b. You'll get some pretty flowers, then som long seed pods you can harvest. Then the plant is pretty much done at that point.
How are the 5 in 1 Apple and cherry trees now in summer of 2024? Please make an update video on them. Thanks!
Hello! Thanks for asking! I should do a video on that. They're growing pretty well but not getting any real fruit yet... I got ONE small cherry that got eaten by birds immediately. Many small apple blossoms that turned to small fruit and then fell off. There are 3 green apples that are growing now though! Fingers crossed!
mine have been very susceptible to powdery mildew but I still managed to get a lot fruit before they were too far gone.
Glad you're still getting some good fruit on them!
question, i have one of these in a 2.3 quart pot and the leaves are fully mature but dont smell like much of anything other than chlorophyll. is there some special fertilizer i need to give them to make them smell lol? they're growing in compost and they seem lush and healthy but there is just a very weak smell of something that isnt chlorophyll. my seeds are from baker creek. i had grown some in 4 cells but they ended up dying so i just over seeded the entire pack into that one 2.3qt pot. could it just be that they need to be in ground and huge to produce a smell? that seems odd because other mint family plants like spearmint, sweet mint and pepper mint smell amazing even in tiny cup pots.
Hey there! That's a great question. I don't think you need to give them any special treatment or fertilizer. They should be fine as they are. The scent is pretty mild at first but it should get stronger as the plant grows. Maybe as an experiment you can separate the plants in the pot and put some in the ground. See if that makes any difference!
Have grown these for a few years now. Incredible flavor.
Yes! Agreed. They are a staple in my garden now.
We farming this flowers and we need a market to sell. Where are you from ??
Hello, I'm in Middle Tennessee
Can underweight people drink it please?
Hello! I couldn't find anything online about this specifically. Sorry! I would think it's okay but I'm not qualified to give any medical advice so it's up to you!
In zone 9b I picked my first few mid June. A bit bigger than a golf ball. 15 varieties in my garden this season. It came in first. I'll look for them in the future
Awesome! 15 varieties, nice. Which one is your favorite so far?
Is it too late for me to plant watermelon Cantaloupe and squash I'm in Johnson City TN
Hi there! I just checked my garden planner for your zip code and looks like it's not too late! It says July 12th is the latest planting date for melons. Go for it!
@@inchwormgardens planted 4 2 days ago Thank you!!!!!
I really like Cleome. Seeds forever! I am curious to see how the purple tomato turns out.
Yes! Such a cool flower. The purple tomatoes are coming along nicely! Actually, one plant took a turn for the worse...but I have 2 more plant doing well. I will definitely do a spotlight video on that variety!
Thank you ❤nice to the bush in bloom . Hadnt realised how big it gets with some nice conditions
You're welcome!! Thanks for watching :) Beautiful plant indeed.
its wild fruit, like cherry tomatoes, resistent to everything. In my 20 years of gardening, never saw cherry tomato affected by anything
seriously!
@@inchwormgardens Cuz, fruit is smaller and plant does not use lot of energy for flowering and riping fruit. Plant is using most of energy for root system and hard stem. So basically, unless sickness comes from root, plant can always discard infected parts cuz it probably has root sucker that is already formed as a second plant. While we, normal people who grow bigger tomatoes, if one tomato plant gets any fungi disease, it spreads before we even notice and everything just rots away. And more often than not, if it doesnt gets fungi, the hailstorm kills it. Especially here in mediterranean part of europe. We dont have classic spring rains, we have few storms that last 20 min and demolate everything. Many people plant hundreds of tomatoes, and already have prepared a hundred more in cups haha. Which are wasted cuz noone normal will buy it, cuz its 2 late to plant it. I personally dont even use stability sticks anymore. I plant them in 4 rows, surround with 4 sticks, drag wire around rows, ofc. pulling up wire as they grow. It becomes a jungle and they support each other :)
Idk if I’d eat those but I do wonder if a tincture could be made out of them?
Hey there! That's a great idea, I'm sure a tincture could be made out of the leaves and flowers. Could have some medicinal uses.
@@inchwormgardens I’m gonna give it try
@@chandaphillips1337 Sweet! Let me know how it goes :)
harvesting some now, they taste great! Skins are a little tough
Glad you enjoyed them!
Is the clammy ground cherry the same? It says physalis heterophylia and I have them in yard. Same husk, same yellow tomato inside but my plant finder says toxic to humans?
Hi there! Looks like the clammy ground cherry is just a different species of the Physalis genus. Here's what I found on that specific variety: "The fruits are typical for the family (appearing like a tomatillo), and have a slightly bitter taste, though they are perfectly edible when ripe. The rest of the plant is poisonous, including to animals." So yes, the plant and leaves are considered toxic but the fully ripe fruit should be okay.

You're welcome! Thank YOU for watching!
Love your videos and garden tours!! The chunnel is so cool! Cute little chickens you have! I like the shade and perch area, and the treats the chickens get!! The cilantro looks beautiful and bountiful laying over. I am getting into flowers lately also, learning the different varieties. Like the bags on the strawberries. I put them on tomatoes before to keep the leaf footed beetles off, the bugs left scarring on the tomatoes. Heard of a solution though. Branching sunflower, the sunflower attracts the bugs. I hope you can try a branching sunflower maybe in your wood hip area, or fence corner if you can find a spot. It keeps flowering most of the summer. Thank you for sharing the information about the cleome, that it keeps flowering. I did not think it would, and was avoiding the plant. Will definitely grow it in the future!! If you need to label a plant and keep the writing on, use a carpenter’s wax pencil from hardware store. It won’t fade. Looking forward to a green doctors taste test!! My sister is trying to buy a property in the country so we can have chickens, and a larger garden. Please cross your fingers for us! Thank you!! Thank you for sharing your garden and information. Loving the hollyhocks and yarrow and shade giving comfrey!! Please continue your videos and tours! They are great! Thank you so much!!!
Helllloooo!!!! Great to hear from you :) Thank you so much! I love to read your comments. You really help inspire me to continue! That is a great idea on the wax pencil. I use a sharpie and it fully disappears by the end of the season. Branching Sunflower sounds awesome! Is there a specific variety you can recommend? I've seen sunflowers with multiple blooms (instead of one main head) but I wasn't sure what they were exactly. I actually did do Variety Spotlight on the Green Doctor tomato last year! It has a really cool back story. Check it out! czcams.com/video/6r1QyVE2a-o/video.htmlsi=uxoDuVDGPDqnrhfI Fingers crossed that you get your sister gets that property!!! 🤞🏼 Thanks again and have a great rest of your week!
Hahahaha! Now I remember parts of the green doctor tomato video!! I didn’t know there were branching sunflowers until I planted the Red Sun sunflower. Maybe, you still have time for it to flower. They had it at MIgardener and maybe Baker Creek. There are others, but some listed are pollenless. I know you want some beautiful bees on them. Also on google it said you could pinch the sunflower to encourage more branching. I did not know that! Mary, my sister got the property!! I will move in in a month or so. Growing plants in pots now. Just planted some zinnias. If I get on Mary’s nerves, will spend the night in the chicken coop!!! Anyways, we have lots to learn about chicken before getting any!! Am weeding some raised beds there and will be planting there in the future!! Can’t wait to see some more of your videos, taste testing, some chicken interviews!!! Jk Thank you Inchworm Gardener. Please continue your great work and adventures!!
What??? No ground cherries??? Thought for sure you would have some , was it last year or the year before?
Hey Deb! Good eye!! 😆 I've become spoiled with Ground cherries.... they are popping up in every single raised bed and container I have... I've kept about 6 plants total that are in good spots and pulled out the rest.. What I've come to learn with ground cherries is that 1 or 2 plants, spaced further apart are more productive than 10 plants packed in altogether! So, I I have 3 or 4 plants growing in one of my front yard flower beds (the brick one that looks like a well, with the Dahlia flowers) and a couple more in my raised beds. I just didn't mention them on the video 😅 Thanks for following along!!
Hello. Thank you for the video. I'm in middle Tn as well, I'm just wondering if you have any issues with earwigs?🤢 If so, what's your solution? Thanks again for sharing your garden!!
Middle TN here as well. Our garden has been inundated with earwigs this month.
Hey neighbor! I do see earwigs around my yard but not really in the garden beds 🤔. Maybe they're doing more damage than I'm aware of! That said, I haven't done anything proactive to fight against them. Here's an article I found that might be helpful! www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/removing-earwigs-garden.htm
I am in Canada, zone 6 and have lots of these plants about 3-5 inches tall already. I can't wait to see them bloom and will collect the seeds for next year and let them self sow as well. Thank you for the "taste test" lol. I might put some blooms on a cake as a pretty topper. At least I know if my dogs get at them they won't get sick.
Hey there!! Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the taste test 😅. My kids loved eating the flowers... until my dog peed on the plants... woops! The joy of gardening with pets 😊 Best of luck to you in the garden!
9 cranks of salt is crazy 😂 just got some of these starts given to me , can't wait to crank some salt on them my self
Ha! You're right... I went a little overboard. I think I was just nervous. 🥴 I've since learned not put salt on the tomatoes for these taste tests.. People do NOT like that. Thanks for watching! This is still one of my all time favorite tomato varieties. Enjoy!
@@inchwormgardens Im excited they look amazing , and just like you said these are the best strongest looking starts I have
Wow nice colored cutting board! Where’d you get it or what’s the wood combination in it?
Hey there! Thank you. I bought it at a craft fair in Texas years ago. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is!
@@inchwormgardens what are you yo into? Any new vegetable craziness? I liked your hops video a time ago and how out of average garden crop it is. Would you plant some olives and review them or plant some vanilla orchids in a sheltered spot and let us know?
@@xaviercruz4763 Hey there! Thanks for your interest. Things are growing well here. I just shot a new garden tour for ya :) Thanks for the recommendations. I'll see if those can grow in my area!
@@inchwormgardens sure thanks ill watch what you have man, great quality content and a big channel in quality wise. It’s amazing the things that can be grown in the cold and I don’t know if you like experiments as much as I do (I surely got inspired with the hops you have) but here I share you this guy from Canada in Ireland having corn and potatoes and squash out in the open hehe. They’re experimenting with olives in the fields in Oregon with good success but harvesting green but I could pick that is the variety that matters in their climate as arbequina for instance (a widely available in the USA and the 2nd most popular in Spain after Picual) is early and could be harvested in October (I think green olive oil in late September but I prefer the more developed flavor of later picked) so I guess no problems for ya where you are (olives take snow but like it more when there is no frost but almost there to fruit, look at the climate of Nazareth for instance and specially Jerusalem because they come from those areas so I think you’ll do great) the guy in Ireland has a channel called red gardens and is a genius in trialing varieties vs others in tandem and bold stuff because he seems can’t help it but find out answers to a lot of questions he has in the garden. Hope you do well my brother and see you very soon. Peace be to you God guide you!
@@xaviercruz4763 Wow, thanks for all the info on olives! You inspired me to want to grow them now, haha. I do love a good experiment! I appreciate you showing my little channel some love!
what is the size of the container in diameter you are using to grow this pepper?
This pot was about 1 foot wide and 16 inches tall. It seems a little small but the plant did well!
@@inchwormgardens thanks. Just planted my shishito pepper in a 12inch wide pot yesterday. Everyone seems has a different minimum pot size for peppers. So confusing. 🫤
@@jono601 I understand! It can certainly be confusing. I guess it mostly depends on the size of the mature plant. Some pepper varieties get very large (and need a bigger pot) and some are smaller and more compact. Finding out the full, mature size of each variety could help :)
2:39 you know . 😂
Hehe 😉
It’s my first year growing it as well and O too am in Tennessee
Very cool! This is a lovely addition to the garden. It will try to go to flower pretty quickly in our warm climate but it still grows really well. Hope you enjoy it!
This is my first season with ground cherries and I really hope we like them!
How exciting!!! I think you guys will love them! The kids especially enjoy them because their fun to "hunt" for when they drop on the ground. And the little paper covering is fun to peel an eat. Let me know how it goes!
Do the Deer like to eat the plants, like they do to my Tomatoes? I'm sure they do! My 1st year planting them
Hey there! I haven't had any deer issues personally but I would imagine they would enjoy eating these plants and fruit. I found online that they are "generally considered deer resistant". Guess it depends how hungry the deer is. My advice is to grow some extra just in case!
They do well in each zone ..
Good to know! Thank you.
At any point in the ripening process do they ever look like the cover photo with the purple and green
Hello! Mine never looked quite like that but I only had 1 plant so maybe there are some wider variations. They did have a cool dark striping in the green, unripe stage too.
Thank you. I missed seeing these 2 videos. It will be good to learn more about chickens. Your kids love them. Love the tours and variety spotlights too! How is that cherry tree?
Thank you! The cherry tree has one little fruit on it!! Haha. It's small and green.. hopefully it matures!
Beautiful plants you have growing there in your video. I saw a nickname for honeywort is shrimp plant. Blue is favorite color, loving the flowers!! So many different names, purple tear, kiwi blue, it’s a little confusing. Thank you for this introduction. Hope to grow it this or next year
Thanks so much! Yes, plants can have so many common names it can be confusing!
I have some 2-3 inch seedlings(planted march 21st) of dragons tail radish hanging out out my balconey right now. I'm looking for containers to transplant them into and would appreciate suggestions or an estimate of how wide and deep the roots grow. I grabbed the seed packet by mistake and figured heck why not try growing them in a container and use the railing and some elastic as support if they make it that far! 😂 I'm in USDA zone 8 so a bit hot for this plant and from what I've read the seed pods develop a spicier taste if they are grown in higher heat. Even the sprouts have a bit more kick to them than other raddish greens.
Hello! The roots don't seem to be super deep. I think a large flower pot should work just fine! Let me know how it goes!
Glad I found your video! I bought the airpump on amazon. I'm excited to try it!
Awesome! Thanks for watching. Glad you stumbled upon my little channel. Have a great day!
I cold brew it. It makes me sleepy.
Great idea! Can't wait to try this again. I only have 2 plants this year but I still have a bunch of dried flowers from last year. Thanks for watching!
Your mulch looks good. Have you ever had to put more down, or is it the same stuff from 2 years ago that you did?
Hey there! Thanks so much! I had just put down some fresh mulch before this video. I get a new load of wood chips every other year. They could probably last longer but by the second year they are pretty decomposed.
How long did they take to ripen?
These take quite a long time to ripen. I don't remember exactly how long these took but the average for this subspecies (Capsicum Baccatum) is 110 days.
Nice! Though, seems closer to 6 yards actually dumped rather than 12, unless, there was a 2nd delivery not shown. And the "8 yards" at the end of the video seemed more like 2-3 yards. Just saying- great job though.
Thank you! I had no reference for how much a yard was, haha. I thought the guy said the original load was 12 yards so I was just guessing. Thanks for clarifying!
I hope you can show your chickens and dogs sometime in the video and your cute children unless there is a problem with CZcams or the public with the kids. I understand.
Helloooo! The fam will make an appearance in an upcoming video for sure :) Thanks so much!
Thank you for your awesome videos. My dad was poo poohing a green tomato, but he tasted it and liked it. He turned 87 in March.
Happy belated to your Pops!
I planted seeds and plants that came out are kinda mixed. I got the usual singles but some are doubles. One plant seemed to have too much petals that it never fully open up unlike the other doubles. Never saw it grew pods like the others. Decided to start hand pollinating it today. Crossing my fingers.
Oh cool! My original seeds were supposed to be "doubles" too but I think I only ever got singles.
Pandora's Box IMO
I can agree with that for sure
