    Beautiful garden! I’m growing these peppers and they are delicious with mild heat - less than habanero. Enjoy!

      @@inchwormgardens I’m freezing a lot. But I’ve used them in beans and soups. My son used some to make hot sauce. My peppers are still growing and flowering and it’s October. I love the flavor!

    Thank you! I wanted to try Bakers Creek cachucha peppers because their larger size intrigued me but now I think I’ll stick with my small chachucha peppers. Heirloom cachucha peppers have the habanero’s aroma but with absolutely no heat and the aroma is so intense that you only need two of three of the small ones to make a very flavorful sofrito. I don’t discard the seeds, right at the placenta is where all the aroma concentrates. They have thin walls and the shape has a very pointy end and can be used from orange to red with no loss in flavor. It’s actuaaly best to harvest constantly to get more pods. I’m afraid Baker’s Creek got a good Aji pepper with this one but not close to the real cachucha. My plants are very prolific. They take some time to establish but once they start producing pods is non stop. At some point I start freezing them whole without cutting them and the flavor stays even after months in the freezer. In my opinion is a pepper for condiments and seasoning. Thank you again, you saved me some money and effort.

      Hey there! I'm glad you found this useful! Your Cachucha peppers sound amazing. I really need to try the "real thing" sometime. I'm not sure what pepper this one is, haha. That's the tricky thing with these common names. Several varieties could have the same or similar name! Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️. There's always next year!

    • @dragonthc
      @dragonthc Před rokem

      I concur. My cachucha are much smaller than this. And yes, the flavor is so strong you only need two or three peppers for a recipe. There is zero heat, but a crazy floral fruity flavor.

    I think you got a different variety.
    Cachucha peppers are usually smaller and very flavorful nothing like bell pepper.
    In fact I’ve had such cachucha pepper that are like yours and it’s disappointing to the “real” thing.
    Get it from different source.
    Maybe buy them from a Hispanic store and grow from those.
    They’re supposed to be more compact and very fragrant.
    They look more like a flat habanero

      I'm glad you said that! Thank you. I was thinking maybe these weren't the true Cachucha pepper I had read about. I will try again from a different seed supplier. Thank you!

    Cute little pepper. Did it have any heat at all? Thanks for the review. Anyways, kajari melons produced this year. It is a green flesh melon. It did not taste all that sweet even though it was refrigerated. But one of the seeds out of the packet must have crossed with a cantaloupe. The melon had orange stripes but not the thin hreen green stripes in between the orange ones. The flesh was orange and it had a good sweetness. I won’t grow the normal kijari, but will grow the cross next year because I was disappointed with the lack of sweetness. The orange flesh cross even had more rain and it was sweeter. And, did you like the Prarie Fire tomato? Thanks. Have a good week!!

      @inchwormgardens  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey there! Thanks so much. No heat in this pepper at all. Pretty nice flavor. Glad to hear your Kajari's are producing. Too bad they're not as sweet as you hoped for. I can't even get mine to grow so you're doing better than me, haha. We LOVED the Prairie Fire tomato. I really wanted to do a review video on it but we couldn't keep one around long enough without eating it, haha. The plant is done producing so I'll have to do it next year.

    Hello! I'm in Tennessee too and just got some aji plants delivered. Im a first time pepper grower so I'm looking for some help. Your garden area looks more shaded then I was expecting for peppers to do well. I'm struggling to have a spot at my house with full sun so how many hrs / day do you think the sun is directly on your pepper plants?

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  Před rokem +1

      Hey there! The spot where I grow my peppers is full sun and gets 6+ hours a day in the summer. I've had some plants get shaded out a bit and they still did okay. Not as productive as the others but still got some peppers. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Just find the sunniest spot you have and give it a try! Good luck!

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  Před rokem

      Hey there! Probably the easiest way to preserve the fruit is to freeze them. You could also can, pickle or dehydrate. I personally have not been very good about conserving the harvest. I ended up just giving away all my extra peppers at the end of the season!

    • @vmiller811
      @vmiller811 Před 2 měsíci

      This is my 1st year growing them, and I have read that it is good to make Sofrito from them and then freeze it in ice cube trays to pull out and add to beans, rice and other dishes. Mine are still green--and apparently you can eat them at any stage of ripening--green to purple to red. I can't wait to try them! I have grown them as a possible alternative to bell peppers since I have a hard time getting them to ripen/color up.

      Hey Rodolfo! Man, I don't think I'll be growing this one again. There's so many other varieties I want to try and I just didn't love this one. I might try again and get seeds from a different source. I would suggest trying that too, maybe you'll have better luck with some different seeds. Good luck to you!
