    Thanks for sharing. My husband tried to teach me gardening and now he's gone so I've taken to watching gardening videos for my zone so that I can learn. I remember that he always said, if you don't eat it, don't grow it.

      That's a great piece of wisdom your husband passed on to you. I need to follow that advice myself! I found a lot of garden inspiration watching CZcams videos as well. The Rusted Garden, Roots and Refuge and MI Gardener were the 3 channels that really first sparked my interest and where I learned my gardening basics from.
      Just don't be intimidated! There's a lot to learn but when it comes down to it, it's really simple. Seeds are full of life and want to grow! You just have to gently encourage them :) Best of luck to you!

    Hey there! Wow. So much to take in! I’m impressed with the black sesame plant. Never seen that before. I’m inclined to grow some from seeds I’ve got in the pantry to see what happens. Also, completely agree with you on the ground cherries. One of the easiest, most delicious, sweet treats in the garden. I get several volunteers every year. The kids go out and eat them nonstop. Also, congrats on growing the channel! I’ve been watching for a bit and noticed you’ve stepped up the production value. Really liked the cinematic intro and music at the beginning. It set the stage for the rest of the video beautifully 👍🏼

      Hey! Thanks so much! I really appreciate your encouragement and continued interest in my channel. Helps keep me motivated!
      That would be a good experiment to grow your kitchen spices! As long as they're not toasted I would think the sesame seeds should grow just fine. Thanks again!

    Looking good! Except for the potato buckets..the process is to put 4” of very nutritious soil in the bucket, then put in your seed potato, then immediately cover with loose, rich soil almost to the top of the bucket. The moisture and heat causes the potatoes to sprout and search for light. If you’ve ever left potatoes unattended you’ll see how comically far they will grow to search for light. Alternatively, you could put less soil on top and cover every time the sprouts break the surface..check out Hollis and Nancy’s potato bucket playlist for more..

      Hey! Thanks for the tips! I knew that potato bucket was a failure, haha. Sometimes you learn the most from the mistakes! I'll try again next year. Thanks again.

    I like your red black eyed Susan vines, the butterfly pea vine, the yellow swallow tail. The dill and fennel. Like the wooden steps you and your wife put in. So sorry about Cricket. I am growing the black sesame also. Wasn’t sure if it was a weed or not when growing…like your inchworm gardens sign too. So cute. The ball basil you have is interesting. So sweet that the chickens can be around you more in the yard with the chunnel. My Pippin’s golden honey is almost ripe, but it is dark orange. Will write you back and tell you how it tastes. Have a good weekend. Don’t let your camera catch on fire!! Like the picture of the melting camera.

      Hi Mindy! I’m happy you found me too! Thanks so much for watching. I can’t wait to get started for the 2023 season. I’m a little behind schedule because I’m out of town for work for the next couple weeks but as soon as I’m back I’ll be diving into seed starting!
      Have you started any seeds yet for the season?

    You gotta grow Pippin’s Golden Honey next year. It’s delicious. Kinda like eating a fruit, like apple and a little bit of citrus. Crunchy and firm. Really good. Have 2 short videos on it but this description is better than the videos. Have a good week

      Thanks for the recommendation! I just watched your two short clips. Beautiful pepper! You could really hear that crunch. Sounds like it is a really sweet pepper. I will definitely add this to my list for next year. Thanks Jeannie!

      Thanks so much! I really need to start planning for Fall... I'll probably start another round of hardy greens like Tatsoi and Kale. Maybe some peas and beans and if I plant now, I should be able to get some cucumbers still. Thanks for the reminder! I'll get that nailed down!

    Great garden tour, love your fig plant. I recently moved to middle Tennessee and I’ve been warned about ticks in the garden & landscape. Do you have tick issues in your garden and if so, what products do you use? Thanks for any info.

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  Před rokem

      Welcome to Tennessee! Yes, ticks can be a problem around here. I personally haven't seen any in my garden but we have gotten them in the surrounding area. There are natural tick/mosquito sprays you can use but I wouldn't be too worried about it unless you start seeing them on your clothes/body. They tend to be in the longer/undisturbed grassy areas. Best of luck!

    I like your cute channel and I am sending a link to this to about half of our family who live in Tennessee and I hope they get inspired to grow unique plants like butterfly peas. Just FYI unless your channel is meant to be a channel dedicated to making promotional videos for Baker Creek, you can order seeds for every single one of these plants from any other company or better yet from individuals who sell their own seeds from their own gardens on sites like Etsy or Ebay for WAY less money than Baker Creek, just make sure if you order anything from another country that's a plant or seeds the seller fills out the customs form right. The US customs service recently confiscated a rare variety of eggplant seeds I ordered from Thailand because where one was supposed to write the Species name of the plant on an import form the seller wrote some words in Thai and the word SPICES. The thing is though, they sent me the form and I googled the Thai words and Google immediately told me what variety of eggplant it was. Someone could have done that. Instead, they sent me a letter saying suspected contraband mailed to me was destroyed, and described as suspected seeds.

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  Před 2 lety

      That's crazy they destroyed your "suspected contraband!" Thanks so much for sharing my channel with your family. I appreciate that :)
      I didn't really intend to only review Baker Creek varieties. I wanted to pick varieties that were easily available for anyone to purchase and try themselves. Since Baker Creek is so popular, I've mostly been reviewing their seeds. I do agree that they are a bit overpriced and can be found cheaper elsewhere. What I really like most about them is their marketing - catalog, website, seed packets, you tube channel, etc. So I don't mind paying a little more I guess.
      I love going to seed swaps whenever possible! That's my favorite way to get new seeds and share mine with others.

    Do you think it’s possible to put tulle fabric over swallowtail caterpillars on dill outdoors until they turn into butterflies or is that not a good idea? Just wondering because I might want to do that if it happens in my backyard. (Love your garden btw!).

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey there! I think that's a great idea. You would be protecting them from birds and other predators. I guess the only drawback is that it might block the flowers from other pollinators that would enjoy the yellow dill flowers. We're doing an experiment where we brought 4 caterpillars inside and they are all safely in their chrysalis stage and we look forward to watching the butterflies emerge. We'll release them back into the garden at that point. Thanks for stopping by!

    Apparently fig trees don’t fruit for first few years and waiting produces better fruit. Lol I thought that “kinwa” sorry about spelling was a weed but I can’t remember the name and it us supposedly edible. Love the chicken tunnel 😂😂. But sorry you lost one 🥹. English call it bindweed it’s lovely but deadly to other plants. Your garden is gorgeous and I love the different flow of it. Thank you for sharing it was very nice 🐝 safe

    • @inchwormgardens
      @inchwormgardens  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks so much! That's encouraging to know about the Fig tree! Luckily, it's a very pretty tree to have in the garden so I'll keep it around, even if it takes a while to produce fruit.
      I think you're right about that "Quinoa" I have growing. There's a related species knows as "Lamb's Quarters" which looks the same. I think that's what this weed is. It is edible but I'm hoping it will produce a nice seed head. We'll see!
      Thanks for watching!

      Hi Mindy! Sorry for the delay. I though I replied to this earlier. I'm so happy you found me too! I just got back to Tennessee. I've been in Florida for the past few weeks for work. I'm a few weeks behind on seed starting now but I plan to get started this weekend! I'll have some more videos for you soon! Thanks again for watching :)
