are you aware of their new guidelines regarding Smash tournaments, I think it happened last year ? I think the organizer of Smash tournaments cannot make a profit from the event, among other things. hungrybox has a vid about this topic, which seems to imply not just Smash tournaments.

If concept art has never been released to the public, there's no way for anyone to find it. Same goes for music that ordinarily always has dialog or sound effects over it. Like the cutscene music from Mario Sunshine. Before the switch version added a music gallery, it was impossible to hear that music on its own, even if you ripped the music directly from the game's files.

I think the main issue of the fps cut is gonna be with superguarding. As with superguarding you need to be very accurate with your button presses to achieve it. And with the remake of thousand year door being docked at 30fps it’s gonna be challenging for players who often superguard on the original. To get used to superguarding in the remake with the cut frame rate.

Yes , I'd subscribe to Nintendo online if they had a huge GB , GBC , GBA catalog. But for now , since I enjoy owning my games , I buy old physical carts , and play them on my Analog Pocket.

Nintendo looks pathetically obsessive in this emulation area. I’m on the edge of not buying anything Nintendo going forward. Nintendo is too stingy and lazy to build out their current console. Instead they’d rather throw their money at lawsuits against fandom. They should instead just do better than emulation themselves. But alas, Nintendo just continues to prove themselves as rabid and greedy money grubbers.

Nintendo has revealed the bonus content for virtually every remake/remaster they've done before the release of the game (even think to the recent analogous example of Super Mario RPG). IGN says Nintendo wasn't willing to show every secret, but that could just be about the story and world (note that they didn't show every partner in the trailer). I hope Nintendo has packed in more, but at this point, I think it's best to set our expectations and assume the additions are what they've shown: the gallery, music, and some nice quality-of-life improvements.

Nintendo is likely seeing that consoles are dying. Everything is going to pc, Ive heard so many people say Nintendo should just be a software company (look at how well that went for Sega). I think you can thank the a**holes that put UNRELEASED titles for download to PC for the heat. It showed Nintendo that there are a lot of people that are willing to not pay for the game they spent 7 years (14 if you include botw) and millions of dollars developing. And with their business model being attacked and slowly coming to an end, they are trying to slow what is inevitably coming.

I find it laughable that Nintendo is charging full price for a game with a few extra texture and snippets yet dropping frame rate, paper Mario games have split timing for extra battle damage, But the funny thing about this is no one is bothered about this due to their Mario tinted glasses, Metroid prime remastered was far better done and that was way cheaper. This game should have had same price as Metroid prime remastered or had another game on top of it. I love the paper Mario series which is why I’m annoyed that there’s nothing to push it to that next level of experience

Nintendo are on the back foot, but only through their own fault, by choosing to use old hardware that is now easy to match or surpass relatively cheaply - likely more cheaply in a couple of years. They're terrified of the likelihood of cheaper hardware emulators arriving on the scene with the potential to provide access to their entire back catalog from Switch all the way back to their starting days as an video game producer. Let's face it, Nintendo haven't exactly had an identity this generation, other than a couple of games from their staple series, "it's portable" (which in today's day and age isn't special anymore) and "ooh look, sales figures from those games from our staple series". Outside of a handful of release titles for their next system, they're going to be once again sitting on their arses pumping out the old back catalogue. So, yes, they're shitting themselves right now and they're not entirely sure what to do about it. Hence they're taking this overly aggressive stance as a form of damage control for the time being.

I have them both and I love them, btw, the switch has motion controllers, real ones.. you can play like you played on a Wii or Kinect, that is a plus feature no one EVER mentioned lol

A few years ago I interviewed a Nintendo lawyer applying for a position at another gaming company. It was very clear that nothing was off limits to go after people for using their IP.

TTYD is notoriously one of the most difficult GameCube games to emulate, plus it’s been remade with new assets. There must be something in the code that prevents it from running well on mobile chipsets.

Really hard to maintain richest company in Japan status, with little revenue trickling in due to a scarce 2024 lineup.

Nintendo is actually very lax on emulation. Think about all the stuff they know about and let go. Mother 3. Dolphin. Etc. So you can't say they are anti-game-preservation. The issue is that Yuzu is evil. Seriously. Yuzu is taking new game sales away from Nintendo. Period. That's taking away direct profits for Nintendo on their new stuff. And you know what that is? It's hardcore theft. Old games for old systems are not hardcore theft, because Nintendo has made so much money - over and over and over - and keeps milking people for these games -- and when people have purchased these games many times over, it is not robbery nor theft for those people (whomever they may be) to say "I want to play these older games my way," or say "Instead of purchasing these ancient games used, I'd like to test them on emulation first." That's not hardcore theft. But using Yuzu on a Steamdeck is hardcore theft -- and that's what was happening. And yet.... you'd think Nintendo would have hit Yuzu earlier. But they didn't! Why? Because it wasn't until videos started popping up on youtube encouraging people to not buy a Switch and just play the games on a Steamdeck that it was a direct competitor. That. Is. Theft. Period. So, Nintendo had to take a stand. Gary Bowser was also participating in hardcore criminal enterprise. If you don't get this, then your mind has lost certain inhibitions -- and your heart has been hardened. Take a step back, and look how lenient and lax Nintendo really has been. And then understand how downright immoral some of these people are. If you have used their services... back off from their use. You have the money to purchase the games you want. And you don't need them to be HDR. Just let it go. Enjoy legitimately purchased Nintendo products. Regarding Gary's Mod... this was probably because Nintendo wants to create some sandbox Nintendo creation game, someday. That's all. Not wrong for Nintendo to do that.

I hope they add pipes in the Palace of Shadow to help cut down on the backtracking. But the one thing I _really_ want is for Luigi's adventure in the Waffle Kingdom to be playable. If this remake doesn't have that I'm selling back the game.

I'm still buying this game for my switch oled console despite the frame rate issue. Switch force we'll be waiting a long time ⌛ for the switch 2 to come out. I'm looking forward to playing Paper Mario and a thousand year door on my switch oled console on May 23rd. Be patient Switch force. I'm sure Nintendo is working on something huge. But we're going to have to wait ✋ and see 👀. It is what it is right now.

It appears to be on the origami king engine & that was 30fps, also it’s a full on remake not a simple remaster btw, other outlets like good vibes games have reported they never encountered any frame drop issues with their time on the game.

And i dont think nintendo can end modding.... because the modders are allways modding a day or 2 and then its modded? Im not just talking nintendo... i think the harder the system is to mod more people will try? I am not one but i have had modded consoles....

Nintendo is killing Nintendo brand. Attacking emulators, push off the Switch 2, lower quality games, remakes only. I think we are heading into another crap period. I am starting to expect a "WiiU-2" instead of a Switch 2 with how they are acting. They are lowering their standards with remakes that should be better and nothing keeping people's interest.

The fact that they haven't made a Four Swords Adventures remake for the switch is ridiculous. Whereas the Gameboy failed because you needed a dozen things, with the Switch you could just use the four controllers. Honestly though, Nintendo has fumbled the legend of zelda franchise over the past few years.

I would really love it if Nintendo surprised us and included Paper Luigi: The Marvelous Compass as a mini-campaign you can do. Paper Luigi isn't involved in the main story of TTYD but rather is off on his own adventures and it would be cool to experience Paper Luigi's adventure. Also, since we won't be getting a new Paper Mario game till 2028 at least having some new content or post content would be nice for those who are looking for something new or extra to enjoy.
