Nintendo just opened their own Disney Lands last year. They don't need any other show. Why would they rent out a convention center and share the stage when the can advertise that you get to play the new hardware with Mario and Bowser at their own place, where they collect they gate fee?

Basically it's a combination of Hollow Knight being a very good game and fans having waited years since Silksong's announcement. In that time of waiting, the game has gained a mythical reputation that, realistically, the game will probably fall short of.

Looks can be deceiving. Play it. For at least 4-5 hours then come back.
Unless you really dislike metroidvania-genre or you just want to pla easy games, you won't enjoy it, but if you even sort of like the concept, do what the other guy said and just try hollow knight; 100% worth the small investment

I think they want Nintendo to redirect everyone to their own event sometime fall
I have a feeling we’ll get the Direct in May/June, teaser trailer for Switch 2 in June/July, and a blowout reveal for Switch 2 in September/October. Generally speaking in transition years, Gamescom presentations for Nintendo has historically been focusing on closing out the current generation with very little about next-gen unless the new hardware is doing something majorly new (eg the slow rollout of info regarding regarding Wii). And there’s usually a bit more of a focus on Europe-specific releases. If the May/June Direct reveals everything that’s left for between now and likely Switch 2 release, and everything is a worldwide release, it becomes less pressing for Nintendo to present at Gamescom. Regardless, we should be finding out the roadmap through 2024 (and probably the remainder of FY2025) at the May quarterly investor briefing. Nintendo leadership has kind of tied their own hands on giving investors the roadmap and possibly details on the rollout of Switch 2 info during the February quarterly briefing.
Come on Nintendo you making me worried about switch 2 and concerned.

All I really want is any sort of info pertaining to Donkey Kong, I just don’t understand why Nintendo is staying quiet when basically this is the year of DK. 30 years since DKC OG, 10 years since tropical freeze, he’s getting his own expansion at the Super Nintendo World park, he played a prominent role in the recent Mario bros movie. it discomforts me that there’s this much silence from Nintendo when this is such a significant year for one of their IP.

Of course, there will be Switch games for the 2nd half of 2024 but probably will be lighter/smaller-scaled games. I think this fall we could see Nintendo announce the Switch 2 and gear up their marketing for their next system rather than focusing on what other switch games are coming. They'll do both but it's clear the Switch 2 is Nintendo's top priority
Mario Wonder was first shown in the June Direct last year, so we do have two more months for Nintendo to have an opportunity to show the plans for the rest of the year. But I would still be surprised if there are any titles on the scope of a brand-new flagship Mario or Zelda for the rest of the year, unless they plan on surprising us with the Switch 2 this year. If Switch 2 is 2025, I think they'll pad out the rest of the year with remakes, remasters, and spin-offs.
I am a huge nintendo fan and i am extremely happy that no hardware is coming this year. First of all it makes you realize that nintendo youtubers are full of crap (just listening to their early year predictions is hilarious) and reading comments from butthurt fans who apparently can't wait a few more months makes is a cherry on top.
lol everyone keeps talking about Silksong but I just know when it comes out, it will be thought of for like a week and then everyone will move on.

They should at this point end the life cycle of the console with cool Remasters, cheap to make and take low effort and time and with some dedication they can give us a Zelda collection, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Prime 2 & 3 and F Zero GX
i expect nothing but remasters for the 2nd half of the year, and big sales on current games....

Id say best time to get info would be just before tokyo game show.
Just means be patient, until Nintendo, themselves are ready to announce anything.

Whatever gets me hype these days would have to be an exclusive. And even then, I'm picky about my genres of game. An exclusive Visual Novel, or walking sim, I wouldn't care about. An exclusive high-action, like Astral Chain & Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, or an online-capable action-RPG like Final Fantasy Ring of Fates, now we're talking.

Oh, I press "the doom and gloom button" for everything. Basically, I have a control panel chock FULL of doom-and-gloom buttons, and I press them all regularly. I've got one for the economy, one for the gaming industry, one for climate change, one for my career prospects... etc., etc. You name it, I have a doom -and-gloom button for it.

It just hasn't been announced, and we don't know when it will be. It could be June. It could be 2025. It could be after the heat death of the universe.
But there _IS_ a Nintendo Direct, just like there _IS_ a new Mario Kart game, there _IS_ A PlayStation 7 (after the PlayStation 6 obviously), and next month _IS_ going to be called "May", and the Sun _IS_ still hot, and so on.
Until Nintendo have actually confirmed that "Nintendo Directs have been discontinued forever", then you can't say "There's no Nintendo Direct".
if i do get hallow knight silk song i may wait till i get the first hallow knight game. but i dont think hallow knight is a game for me. it dont look like a good game.

I don't count Luigi's Mansion 2 or 1000 year door as a release. They are just emulated games put on a cartridge and sold. Those are not new releases to me. I also don't want Prime 4 or any other big releases on the switch. It's old outdated hardware. I want these new entries to come out on the next console. Nintendo has to have something cooking. I hope to see the new console reveal this year.

If they've been quiet for this long, then there's definitely a high chance that they have something HUGE planned. So that announcement might be sooner than we think.
