Chorincle is getting a sequel
Goon and Black Snake Moan aren't included with Prime, at least not right now or any more.
You put "The Wave" up for number 10 "The Wailing". Just a FYI
Hey Darren for the wailing the title words that come up is for "the wave" just as an fyi. Actually prolly too late to fix now but thought id let you know.
Great list!
I agree with you Darren: Amazon needs to step up their game when it comes to how they structure their video library. It's the worst.
its bad when pirate sites do it better
"R" rating for the A-Team movie would have been so, so, so wrong. You admitted to never watching the show. It was a teen show and I watched it as a pre-teen. No one ever died, even without blood. They made cool stuff that won the day, the had cool jokes and they were the good guys fighting outside the silly laws. Again, no killing. And then repeat for several seasons. It was great and so was the film. Even having a female co-lead in there didn't seemed forced like it is so much today. There were several times they made cool stuff so it kept the movie going forward.
Very true. Thousands of rounds were fired in the original series and no one was ever hit😁. People joke about the Stormtroopers being notoriously bad shots but they have nothing on the A-Team and the people they fought...
@@curtisharrison424 The only target hit was the opening title. LOL!
Yes! I remember even after they forced a car off the road, and it flipped, we got to hear the driver say 'oh damn!' - just to prove he was ok! HA! I watched the series as a teenager, and along with the Dukes of Hazzard was one of the favourite shows to talk about in class the next day!
I pity the fool that didn’t watch A team
Lol
in the original series they never actually shot anyone. it was just for show. barely anyone ever died or were seriously hurt. but it was a 6pm saturday night show for all the family back in the 80s.
if you have never seen a bunch of grown men, locked in a shed, make a cabbage cannon you are in for a treat. also murdoch was much more crazy in the TV series and much funnier. some of his characters he created were superb.
you should check out "Support your Local Sherrif" or it's Sequal "Support your local Gunfighter" no need to watch both as they are the same movie (same cast and everything) only difference really is they never call him Sherriff in the sequel. I recently re-watched Sherriff and enjoyed it the entire time.
I was just on Prime last night and finally gave up finding a good movie to watch. So, thanks so much for these recommendations!
If you have never been on Amazon prime before good movies to start with are the Sound of Metal , Being the Ricardo's and Chris Pratt's the Tomorrow War all 3 are must watch movies!
There ain’t shit on prime
Went from a serious competitor to Netflix to the dvd dollar bin of Walmart
Don't apologize. Your assessment of the Rock is SO spot on. Definitely Bay's best work. It's not quite at Die Hard's level, but it's up there. Thanks for reminding me -- it's time for my annual "Welcome to the Rock" party.
is that a documentary on dwyane johnson?
DUDE! People love to bag on Michael Bay, but that car chase in the Hum-vee, come on. I don't care about shaky cam, close-ups. It's just so great. And the two minion soldiers that just want to start shooting, it's great. Michael Bay knows action and I will always defend him. See 6 Underground, when you want to see what this man can do when he does not have to answer to a ratings board...BATSHIT CRAZY!
@@eddiew2325 yes. I mean, he's not in it, but I think of it as his prequel.
Hi Darren, I enjoy your channel and picks. Thanks for all the great videos. I do have a question about movie rentals. I watched one of your 20 Hidden Gems or something like that videos for Prime. It was one with a lot of picks that I wanted to check out. All of them were rentals. One of your videos that I recently watched like that was 11 months old and one was 4 months old. Does that have anything to do with that? Or when you say that it is included with your Prime membership, do you mean they also might be rentals? That would be a good disclaimer, lol (unless I missed it somewhere - sorry if I did). It's not you, but I find it really lame to be paying Amazon $139 a year and then still have rentals on there. Ugh. I'm guessing that has to do with copyrights and licensing and things I don't know much about. Anyway, that's my question. Are you including rentals in your recommendations or am I just watching older videos of yours and something has changed? Anyway, thanks for all the great videos>
Love your work! Totally doesn’t matter but title header for ‘the wailing’ is shown as ‘the wave’. Just FYI
And I have followed for a while and absolutely love your recommendations - blood red sky, await further instr, lights out, girl on the third floor - all thanks to you!
And any idea when Wyrmwood: Apocalypse is coming to streamings and who will have it?
Thanks for this list, Darren. I’m sure it takes a lot of work to find all of these titles and prepare these videos. Your charisma really makes the content delivery enjoyable (and it doesn’t hurt that you are so easy on the eyes). Keep up the good work.
Reign of Fire is amazing 🐉🐲
"THE IMPOSSIBLE" was recently added to Prime also. Freaking fantastic true story of a horrendous tsunami and what humans are capable of, in a crisis. Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor are just great. And a young Tom Holland absolutely nailed his role.
The producers even got real survivors to play as extras. Fantastic watch.
Totally agree - that's a great movie.
Just noticed that “ Road To Perdition”, has been added to Amazon Prime. If this available in all countries, a truly wonderful, cinematic experience. Many thanks again for the FLICK CONNECTION update, Darren 👍👍👍
I hated it.
Few people will know that No Way Out remakes the story of the 1948 movie "The Big Clock" starring Ray Milland and Maureen O'Hara. It's worth a watch.
Love this movie and thanks for the remake note. Most people don’t know that information. 🙂
@Kingsley Klosson Thankyou my friend, checking it out now 😃
Wow I didn’t know that.
My family watched No Way Out so many times. The Cold War scare freaked me out growing up.
My family watched The Day After when it aired. It was riveting. I heard Threads is bonkers. The 80’s was a weird time!
Anyway I love No Way Out and I’ll check out The Bog Clock.
Thank you for all the excellent videos, man !! Your recommendations are interesting and reliable 😀 👍
South Korean films started getting credit after Parasite but there are so many out there and Wailing is one of them. “I saw the Devil”and “Chaser”have stuck with me.
Plenty of good Korean movies before. The Host is great
@@lodja 😁👆
Lol South Korean films started getting credit after Old Boy
i love this channel....tell me darren...have you ever covered 1993's "judgement night"....its a personal favourite....would love to hear your take on it
The Dead Snow movies are required watching for any Zombie fans. Black Snake Moan is really surprising, it has a lot of depth and a great story to tell. Sam Jackson was surprisingly good in it and Christina Ricci knocked it out of the park.
Before Dead Snow; I had rented(yup) Cold Prey and enjoyed it ....Polar,Devil's Pass,North Water,Terror,..." What is it with you and terror in ice and snow**** my family whines.🤔😵💫I don't f*g know!!!! Oh,then there's Last 🥶 Winter w my boy Ron Perlman.
Just re-watched Prometheus. Much better than I remembered.
You should watch Bicentennial Man next. It's like Prometheus but better
Love and other Drugs is the film that made me realize that Jake Gyllenhaal has some serious acting chops, by expanding into comedy. Great chemistry with Anne Hathaway, and fun little watch on date night.
The Wave was better than I thought it would be.
Adding Red Snow and The Wailing. I signed up for your newsletter and haven’t received one yet. It’s been a few weeks. I’ve checked my spam folder too. Another great list!
Thanks; great job on the video. As for the list, I enjoyed the Wave a ton.
Kevin Costner, 80s - I called No Way Out without checking the list. Woohoo! Great lists, dude! My to-watch list has grown immensely thanks to you since I subbed here. Keep 'em coming.
I have to say that you worked SO hard on this amazing list. Thank you for continuing to do this. I hope this channel puts food on the table for you and your family because it's an amazing resource for me. Thank you!
So you mentioned accessing the complete prime video library, how do we do that? In a search you have to know the name of the video, at 67 I’ve forgotten a lot of great movies I’d really like to see again, so how can I access the list? Thanks
The Rock was the perfect ending to Sean Connery’s role as James Bond. The “biography” of his character discussed in the film is the perfect set up to believe he’s playing Bond without the producers having to pay royalties to EON Productions! And yes, “No Way Out” is a fantastic watch, particularly if you like surprise endings.
Darren could you tell me the brand of code gummed you use
If ya like SLJ you know he's a bluesman in his own right,I saw this film 15yrs ago when it came out in NZ and really liked it. His renditions and original songs are fantastic I'd forgotten about it but think I might kick back and enjoy again now.always the case with your vids m8 I I've seen most of these titles but as per usual U always remind me of gr8 films to rewatch in a different time different mind.cheeers
Sterling Archer would approve of your White Lightning recommendation
Darren what is your take on the Don Johnson classic Dead Bang and have you seen it
Thank you for the effort to produce these videos! After watching your reviews I went to Prime to watch some of your recommendations. During my search I came across "Deja Vu" starring Denzel Washington. I lived in New Orleans for 7 years so this was a very comfortable movie to get into. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting the story line. I'll be watching this again.
Great movie 👍
Some films I recommend:
1) Splitting Heirs (Rick Moranis/Eric Idle)
2) Operation: Endgame
3) Ruthless People (Danny Devito/Judge Reinhold)
4) Upgrade
5) Infinite
6) Countdown to Looking-glass
7) Smoking Aces 2
8) Gremlins 2 (The script is hilarious!)
9) Pathology
Hopefully you can find them... Thanks for the video!
You are so right about Prime's user interface.
Hell yeah, The A-Team is one of my favorite movies. Copley's portrayal of Murdock is top notch
I love these type of reviews! The Wailing” you mistakenly titled “The Wave”, I had to watch it twice to catch it.
yep, you might want to fix that 😬 but it's a small thing.... ✌️🖖

Cheers pal. Most of these are all movies I missed as time went by. They look pretty good. Thanks !
Just watched the Wave - super fun!!!
Wonder if director Gille Klabin will make more stories tied to aeolus...
Thanks for the recommends!!!
I usually agree with you. In this case, I want to double the support you have of White Lightning. It is an awesome movie that is much overlooked. Oh, and The Rock. Totally agree with you on this. It is the best movie I know of from Michael Bay. Today, I expect to go into one of his movies just to watch things blow up. That movie told a cool story well. Yes, dated on the fx, but a great thrill ride.
I would argue that Pain and Gain is Bay's best movie, but only because it's a break from his usual action fare. Rock is just along the same lines as the Transformers movies and as far as I know, most people like it and the Transformers films are the underrated ones because they're (mostly) pretty fun, aside from Last Knight. That one was actually just bad.
That was great, Darren. Valkyrie is the stand out movie for me. Your presentation is once again superb. Many thanks for sharing this FLICK CONNECTION with us. See you on your next video 👍🌟👍🌟👍
I may have mentioned this before, but I'll say it again. Unstoppable from 2010 starring Rosario Dawson, Chris Pine and Denzel Washington about a runaway freight train
Thanks for the suggestion of “Chronicle”. I love that movie, I was actually trying to find it! Great job!
Hehe… stiffer is a genius reference! 😳
So stoked to be subscribed
Hi, Darren I love movies too. I have 10,000 movies at home. But I was the manager of Blockbuster Video for 7 years before we went out of business.
Thank you, Sir. Robert Streetman😀
A reason to like Prime Video - no dubbing. And well done on not spoiling No Way Out.
The Black Snake Moan soundtrack is a masterpiece on it's own.
Yup., but I don't understand what " she's never been hotter before or since " has to do with anything as far as the movie itself....those kinda remarks there to lure men/women??? I must be getting old.😩✌️
@@Maya_Pinion He obviously thinks her attractiveness was at a peak during that time. Sure, that's debatable, but that is his opinion. It is definitely one reason why lots men and women might enjoy watching the film. The extreme sexual nature of the character makes her attractiveness an important part of the story. It's not wrong to point that out. Most men enjoy looking at beautiful women. Darren makes a living telling us about things we might enjoy. We watch his channel to get his opinions. It's okay to disagree with him. Does it bother you that he implies she is not as hot as she used to be, or that he mentioned her physical appearance at all?
Lmao, listen to yourself. Who cares. Don’t be a sissy about it, lol.
@@Maya_Pinion Visuals are a big part of movies, that includes people. Its ok to the the landscape is beautiful but not the actors? Doesnt make sense. They literally hire beautiful actor and make them up because people like looking at attractive things
I love your videos. It’s hard for me to find people that have similar tastes in films/tv giving recommendations. I just wanted to add that 500 Days of Summer is a coming of age story for the male protagonist. Not a rom com. I think knowing that makes a huge difference in how someone receives that film.
Totally agree with the A-team I never even thought about it being pg-13 which normally pisses me off as well! It’s been forever for the rock, gonna check that out again. Thanks DVD!
Being born in 75 myself I did remember and loved the At Team and I LOVED the movie and thought they nailed it! Great recommendations on this list Mr KVD
Damn... That list is packed with some fantastic movies.... I've watched a lot of them but there's a couple I will watch in the near future.
Thanks Darren.
Thanx 4 Adding Chapters Of The Films
Right on time for Movie Night at my household!
It's almost as if I planned it that way...
@@DarrenVanDam hahahah yeah man you nailed it ! Friday night release! Smart move!
Great picks Darren. I just watched The Rock recently, great movie. Reign of Fire & Prometheus are 2 of my favorite movies and I grew up in South Florida in the 70's, Burt Reynolds was a God back then (nice guy too) so I cut my teeth on White Lightning, Gator, the Longest Yard and Smokey & the Bandit of course (I wasn't allowed to watch Deliverance 😆) I was stoked to see that W.L. made your list
But you have seen Deliverance since right ?! 🤔😕
@@rustyshackleford6035 oh yes! But back in the day I was maybe 10 when it was available on HBO which was the only paid cable channel and my parents thought certain scenes were a bit too much. It was a different time back then. Poor Ned Beatty 🐖
No Way Out is a good call. That movie is a classic but never really gets talked about.
I've seen October Sky, Reign of Fire, The A-Team, and The Rock and just rewatched Reign of Fire. I'd agree. These are all excellent films and worth watching even if you have seen them before.
GOON!! Saw it a year ago, it's great! Super funny with some solid heartfelt moments. SWS may always be Stifler, but in this he delivers. Thanks DVD for solid recs. Scott Adkins is solid, great action he was a stunt man so his scenes are wide shot and amazing!
I really liked Goon, especially Liev Schrieber's character. Goon: Last of the Enforcers is essentially Goon 2.
Goon is woefully under appreciated. Always happy to see it getting some love.
Thoroughbreds starring Anya Taylor Joy is on Prime and is absolutely phenomenal, given her recent rise to stardom this is one that a lot of people might have missed and need to go back and see. For fans of Jessie Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart I think Cafe Society is another good movie that I think might have flown under some radars as it was released as an Amazon Original Pre-pandemic and Pre people really appreciating Amazon Original content.
Great video, love what you're doing also you're looking good man nice arms 👀💪🏼
Thanks for the recommendations. And I picked up some AG1
I just watched The Wave yesterday, highly recommend for anyone who likes something trippy
Also, I recommend that if you see Scott Adkins' face on a movie cover, you watch it.
Hey I love The Rock! I’ve had it on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, & UHD Special Edition & I’ve just seen it’s available on Prime Video!
Thank you for this list! RE the comedy Eagle Vs Shark, they came up with the most stupid burger promotion for humor's sake but also so ridiculous they thought that no one would ever do this in real life: the "Inside Out" burger, which is a piece of bun between two burger patties. A few years later, KFC came up with that same thing only using chicken patties instead of hamburger.
LOVE this Channel Sir. While You Forget Some Gems here and there, from time to time (lol); You have an Admirable KNACK and TALENT for Highlighting (Stellar) (Unheard of) Under the Radar Cinema
It's fun to find movies on Prime that are free to me. Some i've seen and just wanted to enjoy again, like Goldeneye, The Prestige, Ace Ventura. And some new ones surprised me: 2149 the Aftermath, Into the White, Radioactive, Train to Bushan, Aeronauts, Blackout Invasion Earth (russian), and my favorite My Spy.
Check out a Korean movie called The Host.
Awesome, I've watched it twice so far
Darren, the wife and are wondering if you have either hacked our minds or have been peaking through our windows while we've been watching movies. There's very few movies you've mentioned we haven't seen and haven't enjoyed.
Great reviews and a really great channel. It's nice to know we're not alone in our choices of " different" films. October Sky was really, really good. Chris Cooper was once again near perfect in it as the father.
Man nice list a bunch I have not seen a few I have!!
Prime app on smart TV (and browser I think) has a 'free to me' tab to filter out the stuff you have to rent or subscribe to other channels for.
Someone made a comment on "Road to Perdition". You should do an episode just on all the movies that use that theme. There are a surprising number. I like 'em all.
I saw Now Way Out when it was new and it has stuck with me ever since. Great movie!
Another underrated movie on Prime (I think…) is “An Inspector Calls”. Darren, this may be one you want to check out!
Winter People with Kurt Russell is a must watch. Great review my friend.
Ed Harris is fantastic in The Rock. That movie made me notice how good Ed was.
Prime also carries several Rifftrax titles at any time, which I appreciate. They have Mike, Bill, and Kevin from Mystery Science Theater 3000 doing what they do best, hilarious commentary tracks over bad movies.
I'm just going to throw in another recommendation for Reign of Fire.
The first time I watched it, I was stone-cold sober and pretty much agree with Darren's estimation. However, the next time I saw it, I'd had a couple of drinks and it was *stupendous*.These days, it's one of my favourite guilty pleasures. You've got to park your brain in neutral before you watch it, but if you do it's a really great action movie.
Totally If you re drunk enough, anything can be good
Edit: I was trying to decide if Reign of Fire was in Top 5 or Top 3 worst movie I had ever watched. Only watched because M. McConaughey
@@3mtech This was one of the few movies where McConaughey *didn't* drive me round the bend - mostly because all the actors seemed to be treating him as though he was a bit of a bellend.
@@darriendastar3941 He was acting like one
@@3mtech You are a person of sublime discernment. I cannot disagree with you.
awesome video man! thank you
Vanishing Point 1971, fantastic movie. A car delivery drive is chased by crazy cops.
Thanks Darren !! 🥰
In terms of underrated Michael Bay movies I'd say "Pain & Gain" is a solid flick even for viewers who are not a fan of aforementioned director. I recall the german rental was titled "no pain, no gain" but my memories might diffuse on that. Anyhow, Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg are a sight to see in this fun muscles for brains satire based on real events. In my opinion this Bay movie is the best work of him so far. =)
I agree, excellent fun! 💪
Nice list. I was pleased to see that I had already found about half of them "on my own." As a suggestion for an "underrated movie" on Amazon Prime right now- by what I consider an "underrated actor" as well is "Blind Fury" with Rutger Hauer. A fun action movie.
I watched Blind Fury when I was a kid and I thought it was badass! Might have to watch it again with adult eyes.
Absolutely agree about they’re interface, the best movies are hardest to find
Yay! Finally! Went thru list, The Wailing, first movie actually on Canadian prime!
Eagle vs Shark was shot in my hometown. Sweet as, man!
OMG 🤯 I had forgotten White Lightening..👍 such an excellent movie
I remember watching that on HBO as a kid...(yes I'm that old 🙄)
I love October Sky one of my favorite movies. Can't wait to watch the other movies.
Reign of Fire was a lot of fun. A good, old-fashioned-type monster movie that was appropriate for younger viewers. I played it for my young nieces and nephew years ago and they loved it.
I watched Prometheus again, this time without thinking about its connection to Alien.
You were right. It really is a good movie. Also the references to the Alien universe worked much better when watching it the way you suggested.
Thanks again for another good recommendation.
It was always a really good movie, even before. People are morons.
yeah its more enjoyable now after the initial disappointment. i also didnt like some of the characters but in retrospect you might struggle to get decent scientists on a 4 year mission to maybe nothing.
You’re 💯% right. Most people couldn’t be trusted with superpowers.
You really should get a subscription to “Apple TV” and do videos for that cause they’ve got some really amazing original content that is unheard of like “See”,, “mosquito coast”, “Invasion”, “mythic quest”, “severance”, “buddy lasso”, “morning show”, etc…
This is a Great list with movies I have enjoyed watching and movies I now plan on watching but I read the list top comment 1st before watching the video and got excited when I read the Wave 🌊 because I thought you were talking about the Norwegian Disaster movie 🎥 from 2016 and so just wanted to say for any one who has not watched it yet that's a Great movie 🎥 too and it's on Knopy and the Roku channel and Fubo ! I Highly recommend watching it for anyone who Disaster action movies and doesn't mind reading subtitles 😁!
"And I can't think of a more important time in history to have a strong immune system." LOL
One thing you must understand is that the A Team was popular back in the day because of Mr.T .... Mr.T is the reason him and him alone so the remake fell sort because the whole vibe of it was Mr.T and there is no Mr.T in the remake so shows like that kinda don't make any sense to remake without a huge star to take the place of a phenomenal character like Mr.T who was a living character within himself
The full original A-Team series is on the roku channel. Yeah, it's a little dated but still loads of fun to watch. It may well be Cannell's best. If you haven't seen it.... surely, you must!
2 of my Go To Movies when I can't find anything watch is your #3 No Way Out and Your #1 The Rock. You have put together a really good list ...... And My Favorite Sleeper Movie that "No one has heard of" "Lone Star" 1996 staring Chris Cooper , Elizabeth Pena and a young Matthew McConaughey. A really good murder mystery with several other story lines with an ending that will leave You speechless
you should buy an a-team box set man. i still have the dvds i must watch them again. i did grow up with them tho.
Valkyrie is underrated, saw it several times. White Lightning is classic Burt Reynolds, saw it at the drive-in in 1973. I caught No Way Out in the theater, one of Kevin Costner's first movies to go big in 1987. Lawless is good.
Oh damn . I just watched THE ROCK yesterday ( on reg TV ) , so now they're is a # 1 pick left on the list for me .
Pretty solid list. Chronicle, Goon, Black Snake Moan, Lawless, Prometheus, The A Team and The Rock I've seen and enjoyed and I'm gonna have to watch Eagle vs Shark as I love Jemaine Clement and never heard of this so thanks!
Did I miss the T-shirt link?
I actually saw October Sky in the theater back when it was released. It's well worth watching.
That Scott Adkins trailer makes me want to see him star in a film based on the game Target: Renegade.
Watched "Lawless" a few years ago, just by chance. Thought it was brilliant.
