SPACE SWEEPERS REVIEW
• SPACE SWEEPERS Review ...
I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!
Here are the best sci fi movies on Netflix right now. This list of 20 Netflix sci fi movies includes some great hidden gem movies on Netflix like Mirage and Elizabeth Harvest, as well as classic sci fi movies like A Clockwork Orange and Total Recall. I've even included some 2021 Netflix Movies like Outside the Wire and Space Sweepers. Not only are these some of the best science fiction movies currently on Netflix, they're simply among the absolute best movies on Netflix right now.
Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.
Thanks for watching! - Zábava

Just wondering if you've ever seen Brotherhood of the Wolf? It's one of my favorite everything movies, much like Total Recall has a bit of everything. Martial arts, Secret Societies, a Monster, some sort of Revolution, a bit of body horror and if that weren't enough Incestuous behavior from brother to sister. I may not do it justice but it's just an amazing movie that I never hear anyone talking about.
@@randall-thehorrorwriter that sounds like a Great movie which streaming service is it on ? I want to look it up !
Luvs my Cyber 👻 !
Really wish you would time stamp these lists
@@mchamber366 yeah, he peaked my interest and his me wondering if it’s available on streaming
Man, I don't care what everyone says, I loved Lucy. I believe it's a very underrated flick.
Agreed
@Donny Boshoff I agree 100%. I usually don’t like movies with overpowered characters (ex. Superman, Neo in the Matrix sequels, Rey in Star Wars) because too much power often equals low stakes, which is boring. I think Luc Besson struck a good balance by making Lucy pay a high price for her abilities, which kept me engaged and rooting for her.
yeah.... i mean scientifically it's ALL so wrong, but that's exactly what you have to get over and just go with it and it's such a fun wild ride
I loved LUCY too. I have watched it again and again I lost count.
My only complaint is the group of people who thought it was a documentary. We get questions on Quora all the time….. What could we do if we used all of our brain?
Elizabeth Harvest is a great little hidden gem. Looks like a drama or possibly a thriller, then becomes a Sci fi flick. Love when films bend genres.
Its not availble on netflix
@@hunterhunting8864 tubi - i liked it
So glad you included Prospect on this list. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed this low budget, but very atmospheric scifi.
Same, I really enjoyed this movie too.
Same!!
As of November 2021 it's on Hulu
I'm a sci-fi hound from the good old days, and I agree with your number one and number two picks. You did a nice job on this list. All good wishes. Of course I'm subscribed.
I almost forgot how much I liked "Total Recall". Keep'em coming!
Thank you for such a great presentation. The way you gave out plot information without spoilers was perfect. I particularly liked that you pointed out weaknesses as well as praising specific aspects of the movies. A job well done, sir.
Space Sweepers! Great Flick! Thank You!
A lot of good suggestions - thank you!
I only knew "Prospect" out of this list - and loved it!
Great list. We love your commentary. We've watch most of them and will definitely watch the others too.
Prospect is a true Sci-Fi fan's movie. It's not insulting the viewer by explaining all the things that don't need to be explained. And yes, it's also a Western. Two thumbs up!!
Totally agree...I was pleasantly surprised how good this flick was/is...highly recommended.
Surprised me too. Didn't expect it to be so enjoyable. Didn't realize it had that space-western vibe until later, but that description definitely fits.
It's my favourite out of this list.
“The good Korea not the bad Korea they don’t make movies” 😂😂😂 couldn’t stop laughing
Unsub to Netflix or did you not gt the Memo
why and how Millions of people did so??
If you (impressively) missed all this Uproar,
then inform yourself. Soon as possible.
Midnight Special is definitely up there as my favorite movie on your list. Michael Shannon , IMHO, is one of the most underrated actors of our current generation. I remember watching Superman, and only realized a few years later that he played General Zod.
Dude's been killing it since Boardwalk Empire, with great performances in The Shape of Water, Nocturnal Animals, and so many others. His portrayals are becoming iconic at this point, and he always gets overlooked when it comes to the big awards.
I am so stoked to have found your channel! Darin, your pics align exactly with my love in movies. As I watch your videos, I furiously take notes on my phone to catalog your pics. Then I systematically watch with a giant grin as I no longer have to sift through a bunch of crap to find gold. Keep up the amazing work!
This is always my favorite list you give us, thanks!
No problem!
Saw I-Boy a while back, really enjoyed it.
Also liked Outside the Wire and Prospect. Looking forward to the others!
I was surprised how good Spectral was. It's usually underated or forgotten, good to see it farely high on the list.
Thanks for this list Darren! I really REALLY enjoyed Code 8 after watching it from your suggestion. It was also cool to see it filmed in my home town of Toronto. Also cool to see some scenes filmed near the government housing complex I grew up in lol. Thanks again for your amazing content.
I read Anthony Burgess book of Clockwork Orange and when the movie came out it was narrated and spoken in the same way with the colors and the violence. Perfect.
Great influence during its global distribution.
I love your suggestions man. You are always spot on. The Witch was amazing
The Witch must be one of the best action/sci-fi movies i have watched past few years. It freaking ROCKS!!! From the how the story line is build and progressing to special effects is top notch imo. You cant miss this title 😱
Prospect is a top notch space western with a lot of heart
I believe that Prospect exists in the Firefly universe. It is the space western.
Watch the movie called, Serenity (by Joss Whedon).
A really top notch, sci-fi western!
@@redfoe77 I saw “Serenity” in the theater when it first came out. I did find it less gritty than I like in my westerns
@@redfoe77 Serenity is awesome!!
Top notch, indeed, good sir!!
Some excellent recommendations in there that I'm looking forward to watching. I haven't watched Total Recall for MANY years. Classic!
Great list. Seen more of them than not. Thank you.
Awesome, thank you!
I subscribed just because of the enthusiasm you showed in this video! You made me want to sit down and watch every one of these films right now!
Thank you. Looking forward to your future offerings.
I always value your reviews & recommendations. When discussing foreign films could you mention if they are subtitled, dubbed, or original English? Thank You
I have only seen two out of this amazing list... I will be watching them and will come back when I'm done!
Man this channel is so much better than turning to IMDB or rotten tomatoes to find a good movie. Love the honest unbiased picks.
I always enjoy your suggestions.
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the list
☀️
Total Recall was one of the great movie surprises - I never saw a trailer for it and was blown away. Good pick. The Skyline Trilogy are excellent.
Love your videos! I've only seen two movies on this list and one of them is thanks to you -- PROSPECT -- frickin' love that flick! Saw A Clockwork Orange ages ago. Will be working my way through this list in the next few weeks! Thanks much!!
Hardcore Henry... LOVED IT!!! absolutely one of a kind. Thanks for the recommendation!
Wow, I just watched Mirage based on this recommendation & I absolutely loved it. Lots of twists & turns, but the very end scene made it for me. Pan’s Labyrinth is one of my all time favourite films, so any foreign film this gripping is right up my street. From David in the UK, thanks!
I saw "Mirage" a couple of years ago. It's outstanding. Lots of new ones (to me) on your list, so I look forward to checking them out!
I am always anticipating your uploads. Thank you for all the candid, honest reviews. Your channel should have over a million followers. Keep up the great work my friend.
Totally agree with you in all of these movies. I always love your selections! Cheers man!
Watched Space Sweepers last night on DVD's recommendation, really enjoyed it. Moves super fast, gotta pay close attention but it's a great story and visually incredible.
Wandeeing earth is good too, and its a series but alice in borderlands is nutz.spectral
@@TheBrob1983 Oh yeah, saw Wandering Earth and really enjoyed that one too!
I watched it last night too- very entertaining
I liked Space Sweepers, too, and also just watched last night as well. Got to say, I'm becoming fairly impressed with S. Korea's horror and sci-fi output over the last couple of years.
@@Walkerbtween peninsula is amazing too
Wow great list. I always watch your videos and always help me out. Thanks for the hard work it take to make these for us.
I saw A Clockwork Orange at the theater when it first came out. That’s how old I am. Great list. Many thanks.
@ozymandias nullifidian I think it was an adult only movie back then so you are probably out on the age by 10 years
Thanks Darren for another great list... I love that number one is Total Recall!🧡🎥🎬
Enjoy
Great synopsis, Darren. Enjoyed “Outside The Wire” and will check what we have in the UK. Take care and stay safe. Always enjoy Flick Connection 😀👍
Thanks 👍
Sharon stone was unbelievable in 1990...absolutely amazing.
The Witch!! Loved it!! Great tip!
Total Recall is amazing! I saw it opening day in the theater!! The guy with messed up face in bar is Hank from Breaking Bad!
Holy crap!!! That's crazy! I never noticed - nice bit of trivia right there my man!😀👍
Unsub to Netflix or did you not gt the Memo
why and how Millions of people did so??
If you (impressively) missed all this Uproar,
then inform yourself. Soon as possible.
Thanks .
Seen many but have many to watch .
Shouldn't green is a classic too .
Man you were so spot on with many of these IMHO. so good
I saw "A Clockwork Orange" and "Total Recall" in a movie theater when they were first released.
Loved "Total Recall." Bought the VCR.
Hated "A Clockwork Orange." Never want to see it again.
Mr. Van Damme has hit the nail on the head with these recommendations.
I have watched ALL these movies (I'm a sci-fi nut) and I myself would have put these movies exactly where he puts them (If I was to put a top20 sci-fi list myself).
Hey Darren. We don't always agree but on this particular list, you have knocked it right out of the park.
Keep up the good work.
And again... All the very best to you and yours from Bonny Scotland.
Thank you Darren, because sometimes I don't know what to watch sometimes. Keep up the good work
I lowkey feel like my life revolves around flick connection videos. I woke up kind of sad and confused this morning.........I saw a new flick connection video.........my mood is boosted :). I know what I'm going to distract myself with today lol.
The Korea comment at 7:53 knocked me off my chair laughing!🤣🤣🤣
Glad Spectral made the list! Kinda wished ARQ and IO would have gotten up there but you gave me a bunch more movies to watch.
I was psyched about "Prospect" when the original short released. Thanks for reminding me.
Dark Skies and Spectral are my 2 favourites from the list but there were some that I missed and will have to watch. Thanks for the post!
As usual, thank you so much for all of your hard work Darren, much appreciated
Nice bro
The Endless is astonishing. There is some kind of Kubrick's touch I've never seen in other movies. It's one of my favorite movies of the last decade. Moorread and Justin Wilson are the bests. It's a clever movie in every sense of the word. The connection with a another movie of their own is also brilliantly done.
Just watched "Elizabeth Harvest" based on this recommendation. Really enjoyable. Tone and pace reminded me of "Ex Machina"
So similar but also stands on it's own at the same time
Great list of scifi movies. I still think James Badge Dale. Is the best underrated actor out there right now.
Just watched Extinction. Thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Michael Pena is terrific in everything
I don't ever post comments but I really enjoyed this post and the list you have made is amazing thank you!
Hi dvd as usual great movie picks i think my favourite movie from your list would be project power, jamie foxx is just great as the dad /lookin for his daughter.keep up the great work.
I really liked Prospect (Netflix). All these odd details that the filmmakers very intelligently decided they don't need to explain. They kept introducing new characters, new details, new challenges. Very very smart.
Great list
I was lucky enough to see Hardcore Henry in the theater and it was incredible to watch on the big screen. Watch it if you can.
I went to c Clockwork Orange at a local drive-in w/older sisters I was almost 15 they were 10 and 11yr older. They also snuck me into same drive in to watch Night of the Living Dead. I was 10. good times. 🤣🥰🤗✌🏻❤️
Drive-ins! What fun they were!
That drive-in was torn down about 20 years ago to build a Lowe’s. And a McDonald’s. A couple years ago they added an Aldi. It was the only drive-in in north co. Dine In Cineplex were/still the thing here
Already watched Spectral & Outside the Wire . Liked them both
I always dig your reviews
Psychokinesis is a great little movie. Never would have even gave it a thought without your review. I am living the Korean movies you recommend Thanks Darren!
I agree, it looks like a good movie. I thought it was weird that they blurred out the cigarette in his mouth in the trailer.
A great Korean show on Netflix is Sweet Home, I really enjoyed it, you might as well if you haven't already seen it.
Midnight Special to me is the Star Man sequel I always wanted.
Good call on Total Recall --- 👍
epic list. the top 3 is awesome!!!
Nice list
Loved the twist in Extinction. As for Total Recall, just bow down to the supreme "lower" budget rollercoaster sci fi movie of ALL time :)
“ The good Korea, not the bad Korea”...priceless 🤣🤣🤣
As a film buff he must know that hes wrong about North Korea not having movies...they did Bulsara (sp?) which is a Godzilla rip-off where the real life story is more interesting than the film as apparently the director was South Korean who was kidnapped
The witch Holy cow. I've already watched the 2nd half twice. Hard hitting unfiltered pure action there. Keep those reviews coming. I find so many movies through this channel.
The Call. Korean horror with sci-fi premise. I wasn’t expecting much but it surprised me. Deserves more recognition.
I agree! the call is under rated movie.
Nice! I’m running out of stuff to watch.
Spectral for me , brilliant movie, loved it 👍
Thank You for this !! 2 down 18 movies to go
A really great list and it reminds me I really need to crawl out from under my TV series binging rock and start watching some movies again. I am a bit confused of the top spots being taken by some top notch classics while the rest seems like 2010+ flicks. Still 100% thumbs up from me.
Thanks for recommending Elizabeth Harvest. I really enjoyed it.
Spectral is a must see if you love sci-fi. Loved it
Amazing and Convincing: You are the Master!
Thank you for this content.
iBoy was pretty good. I enjoyed it. Gonna watch Hardcore Henry later.
The foot chase in Hardcore Henry has to be one of the best.
Just watched The Witch movie. Fantastic. The slow burn start was good character development that so many movies lack. Great recommendation
I've seen many of these and loved them. Thanks, now I have a few more to watch! Oh, and just FYI about A Clockwork Orange, Kubrick didn't put in the end written by Anthony Burgess. The infamous Chapter 21 that really made the book. If you want to know how, you'll have to read it. The American editions of the book cut it out when published, Kubrick when asked, said he didn't have the English version and probably wouldn't have put it in his adaptation.
Mirage is really good. Excellent recommendations.
Midnight special is my favourite on the list. Michael Shannon is such a great actor and this film is such a hidden gem. That said The Endless is the one I've seen the most, it's such a watchable movie. Awesome lost as always.
The Endless captured cosmic horror better than other high budget films ever could. One of my favorites, also.
I think Anon could be a borderline pick for this list. It could be considered a sci fi detective movie because of its near-future neural network set up. Everyone is hooked into a centralized network where some people can directly share other's experiences through their stored memories. Some authorities can do it without permission to aid criminal investigations. Surveillance state themes emerge.
I'm glad Spectral is still on Netflix. I saw the movie couple years ago an loved it, still hoping they have some kind of sequel to it
The witch subversion is phenomenal. If you never see a Korean movie before, this movie should be a nice intro.
A Total Recall Saturday night it Is!! 🍿📺😎🌴✌🏻
Thanks for the suggestions. I prefer sci-fi, comedy, and time travel movies so these picks will join my ever-shrinking list of must-see films. Ever-shrinking because I watch a lot of movies due to the COVID social restrictions and the never-ending wait for an available vaccine injection to save the day that most of us must endure before we can return to the REAL world. 😆
Therefore, my cue never really has a chance to grow beyond a handful of must-see movies ( I have dozens of lesser need to see films that require me to have a certain mood like horror or dramas). Like many of you, I have watched more movies during 2020 than I did the entire previous decade. I'm retired and single so I don't socialize very often. That could be very depressing if not for having a big screen TV and a great sound system to give me a cinema-like experience with every film. I also have a spectacular music studio too that keeps me exploring my music. So, self-isolation or mandated-isolation be damned! I shall endure! That's sad or uplifting depending on how you choose to define it. Without a doubt though, Netflix, Disney Plus, and Prime Video have improved my sanity. 😎
Yes, for Part 2 of The Witch!!
Hell yes..
Absolutely!!!
i found my people❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love Total Recall because it has dark comedy and clear images of relatable people and the mutants are nice people worth saving.
The Witch: Subversion is so good. I just finished watching it. What a great story. I do so hope that they film another one.
Total Recall at #1 is the correct choice, what an escape flick!
