Loved the setup, and explanations. You've sold me on the f22c, just have one question. Does your Amaran f22c have fan noise in the control box? I hear conflicting reports. Also need to point out that I just subbed, and this is my second video of yours. Generally I'm a video quality snob, but for these one man behind the scenes videos, it's actually crazy that you're able to work AND film these at the same time. Watched the whole thing and didn't once think about the GoPro quality. Just grateful it was captured, and grateful for your train of thought narrative of all the steps. Great content man. I'm gonna be watching your whole channel backwards in my spare time now lmao. Keep it up!
I came looking for info on the F22C, and loved the whole vlog. Had no idea my phone was a light meter,. Instant sub brother. I'm also a 1 man band half the time.
Do you have license for that Segway? Make sure you ain’t no amateur
Very informative video. I'm starting to get more into videography coming from photography and your videos are very helpful. I actually like in Oklahoma. I live like 10 min from that hotel. Kinda surprised me when I saw it. :)
Love the “oh I forget to bring my 8’ by 8’ soft box”. Classic. Great channel, and great example of how to create big book light, tennis 🎾 on the legs (pro), explanation of all the things you’ve done and easy understanding of it. I’m really trying to learn how to do lighting like in motion pictures to get that look that you see on the big screen. I think you’ll be one of the people to help me get there.
Thank you!
Met you today! I didn't realize you have previous BTS from the same spot. Thank you again for your content. I am inspired when I find valuable content from professionals who serve in the same geographic area. God bless you and your company.
It was a big surprise meeting you today, such a small world! I appreciate the support and kind words.
Hey man, I just love your content! I’m a DP out of San Diego and every time I’m on my way to a shoot, I play your videos on the drive. 🎬🤙🏼
Man, a big beefy truck, a literal ton of gorgeous gear, and all you ever get are those tiny rooms that barely fit a C-stand. 😂 I'm hoping you'll get bigger and higher-end productions again soon, so as to not become claustrophobic.
Good layout man!
Nice!! Thank you for all of your videos. I've learned so much!
Absolutely love your brekdowns! How do you get these jobs and how much time does it take monthly to look for more jobs?
I’m loving the content! What filters did you have on the lenses?
Love the teaching and thoroughness. Thank you.
Not sure what I would have done, probably would have played it safe and gone against the white wall honestly, but you got a great result. f
Love how you breakdown your productions, you make it simple and easy to understand. Am learning a lot about lighting from you...
thank you for sharing as an aspiring videographer your channel is a goldmine of knowledge learned so much.
This is so awesome to hear. Glad to give back in some way.
Nice work as always! What level and color temp was the 600 set to?
Thanks so much! I think I landed around 30%
Great setup. Glad to see how you made it work in such a tight space. I have a couple of A7iv's myself. Did you have to make any big changes to your audio/lighting setup as compared to your other cameras (FX6, FX3, etc)?
Thanks so much. You should never have to change your lighting or audio based off your cameras for interviews. Budget and time would be bigger factors for changing it up.
Door stop! I normally just drop a shot bag down but your option is even better!!
My shot bags are not cheap, door stops are a better option for me.
If there are light reflections in glass, I like to get a shot of the space with lights causing the reflections off. This gives me the option to mask them out in post if I don’t like them
Great idea! I will have to play with that next time! Similar to removing a boom and mic!
Looks great. I always look forward to your videos. You are one of the few I have came across on CZcams, I feel that really knows their craft, and being a one man band is so hard, do to having to wear so many hats at once. Great job!
Wow, thank you! Amazing to hear such feedback. Hope you stick around for more!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video - Thanks :) Do you prefer a 50mm f1.2 over a 35mm f1.4 lens for interviews?
Yes and no! For smaller crew and more control, I grab the 50mm. The 35mm often requires bigger stands for booming or you get too close to the subject.
Prefer your light setup. Feel like the previous videographer had a bit too hard light for my taste and don’t control the spill of the light sources as well as you do👍
It is cool to compare, thanks for the feedback.
Your picture looks way better than the earlier examples . Think I might have used neg fill rather than bounce , and totally agree on your two person interview comments , have had the same discussion almost word for word ! , always the one person sitting there saying nothing , and massive compromise on lighting and framing . I once did a remote shoot and was told it was 4 x 1 person interviews ,I get there and some PR droid insists it has to 4 people in the one shot , talking turns to answer the questions ! . I refused to shoot it like that ,as I knew I would be blamed ! , I recorded her telling me it must be 4 people in frame ,left the location , sat in my car and contacted the client . It soon got changed but no apology from this idiot on site.
Much appreciated! You are right on with your thinking with a double subject interview. It only works when it works.
Polarizer filter would calm those reflections down a couple of notches
love ur videos
Love support!
Nice! Is there a link to the interviews?
Maybe I can share it later?
@@PDMokry, sure. Thank you for your hard work of educating your viewers. I appreciate it.
What camera do you use to film these vlogs? Thanks!
This was on the Osmo Pocket 3
Great job. Was not easy with the reflection and the tiny room. Much better resut than the previous videographer. CLAP CLAP MY FRIEND
Thank you very much! Much appreciated!
I don't like the reflections personally, so I think my approach would have been to shoot into the plain corner with a gobo-type light pattern behind them. Maybe a faux window blind or a funky shape on a dim setting just to make it not plain. Also, the practical is super harsh so either a piece of tint in the lamp to bring it down some of swap it with a dimmable bulb. All in all you did great in that small space!
Don't think there would be any room for setting up another light and then a gobo in front of that , need some distance to get anything like a decent "window" or any "pattern" for that matter . That white wall background would have been visual death in that cupboard location .
Nice work, Piotr. Yeah, I think the client's grading was a bit hot. But I get that they want that high-key commercial look. Also, I bet yoiu are tired of me asking gear questions, but... So agencies don't mind that you are shooting on a7 IV cameras? Do they just specify to shoot on a Sony camera but tht they don't care which model? Or do they not even require you to shoot on a Sony camera? I only ask because I really can;t decide whether to stick with Panasonic or move to Sony, and I am afraid that agencies would turn me down if I shoot on Panasonic. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
Beautiful images man!!!! Great work as usual.
Thanks so much!
This is the reality of most testimonial shoots - cramped, dull/ugly location, windows that reflect equipment, etc. You handled it well. I agree about the 2 person interview as well; my only exception is... we shoot a lot of medical testimonials and usually it's a patient and his/her partner and there is usually great emotionality between the two and they play off each other.
Great content, thanks for sharing. Interesting to see how you deal with reflexions.
Glad you enjoyed it! There are even more great tips in the comments!
It's always great to get new ideas for different random areas you end up in. I've also been wanting to start doing more BTS content, I've been looking at something like the DJI action/go pro or an osmo pocket 2 for that kind of thing
How do you locate your clients? Do you cold call/email, service site that they post looking for videographers or referrals?
Nice work as usual Piotr! While I understand the desire for the practicals, I find that the small lamp reflection over the shoulder is a bit distracting. I may have opted to move it or eliminate it. Thanks for sharing your work!
Nice!!!! If you are ever in need of help when you are in Houston hit me up. I’m also located here.
I am down for that! Thank you for the support!
do you think it could've also worked to maybe bounce the key light onto the wall to help keep the shadow side on the camera side? Also maybe a polarizer to help cut some reflections, though I think the reflections looked fine too 👍
Very nice. Images were great.
Very brave of you to tackle a shot with glass right behind the talent. This would drive me nuts. You made it look amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes we doing crazy things without even knowing it. Glad I could make it work! Thanks for always swinging by!
That minimal kit warms my hearth 😍 I want to build one like that that can fit into a Thinktank Studio Manager 50. 2 tripods, 3 stands, 1 light 1 softbox,1 tubelight , 2 cameras, 2 lenses, boompole , audio recorder and done. A single kit that's easy to move and takes up no space.
Thank you for the video. That’s a great kit for such a tight setup. What light stand are you using for the light dome III? I am looking for a light stand to hold my 200xs and 3 pound softbox. I am using a 13ft boom stand and it’s taking up a lot space. Thank you.
I’ve been down this rd many times. It’s always a gamble when you hand off footage to a 3rd party. I’ve seen the released pice and have had to go check the originals to make sure that I hadn’t f*’ked up. Great work as always….
In this situation you have to edit your own copy to show potential clients and not refer to the clients site lol
Walking and talking intro 🔥
Does this need to be a standard on the channel?
Hi left side wall too hot Have u ever thouht about putting that practical on a hand squeezer?
If you didn’t like the reflections, I feel like a grid on the light dome could help quite a bit. Really liking these videos though. Helpful to see how you are lighting these smaller spaces and working within the limitations of the space.
Quality work. Would love to see the finished product from one of the practices 👍
