    We turned this tiny space into 5 different looks for interviews and testimonials. I opted for a booklight with a 1200D for the key light and then filled with. bounce. I used the 600D to bring up the room levels and then finished off with the T2c as a hair light.

    Awesome work bro! Happy to see you putting out more content more consistently. Great work, love the diagrams and the Timelapse is super cool. One suggestion I would have to make these type of videos a lot more valuable is having a sample of what the camera is seeing or a screenshot. I know you have in other videos, i assume since you’re just gaffing, you probably didn’t have access to the footage, but maybe in that case at least a bts photo or video of what the camera is seeing, otherwise its up to the imagination as to what the lighting is doing, and maybe one has a bit less interest in the lighting breakdown without being able to see the shot. Just a small critic, keep the videos coming they’re awesome!

      Thank you for the feedback! If we were not so pressed for time, I would have jumped in for a quick second. Since I was just the G&E dept, I did not want to press for anything. I am very pleased they approved this vlog and BTS.
      But any chance I get, I will try to get a turn key video made. Maybe in the future I can have a BTS shooter there for even better content.

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 7 měsíci +1

      So I had this exact situation come up and I did something simple!
      What is the difference between a book light and a background setup? Not much really, just the material that hangs from it.
      You can use 3-4 stands and two cross bars. So just find two full backdrop setups used online. Hang diff from one and ultra bounce from the other. That can pack away easy.

    The diagrams were awesome man! And you’ve got me inspired to try an all day timelapse soon. I’ve got a question for you on book lighting. I’ve tried them a few times, but I always get a ton of reflection in glasses. I end up avoiding even trying them for fear of having to switch to a light dome in the middle of the shoot. What do you do about this?

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Glad to hear it! I seem to get the least amount of reflections on glasses with book lights. You can always raise the whole setup and skirt the bottom with neg if needed.

    Have you tried to close down that book light with another white panel making it a triangle? Might reduce the light “leak and fill due to the leak, but get more power in the subjects direction ?

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I have that idea already cooking for when I need it. I have done 4 sided softbox style book lights. We needed the room levels to go up on this shoot, so it was fine to have an open end. I might custom order a 8x4 ultra for these types of setups.

    QQ: in close quarter's scenarios such as this, would I be able to use an Aputure Light Dome 150 with similar effect or would that have framing limitations?

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 7 měsíci

      It would not be as soft and the light would have less spread. You can watch this video to see the 150 dome:

  • @Dano-Media
    @Dano-Media Před 7 měsíci +1

    Hey quick question! I noticed in a lot of your book lights that you don't use the f10 Fresnel on the 600/1200d but instead use the provided reflector. Is there a reason for that? Does it give a better spread? Asking because I've been experimenting with book lighting recently.

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 7 měsíci

      Using the 1200D with f10 fresnel would reduce output. It would be softer, but when the 1200 comes out, I need the output. Most of my book lights are used close to 100% output most of the time. You are correct about a wider spread in a tight space.

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media Před 7 měsíci

      @PDMokry oh never knew that, does the f10 also reduce the output on the 600? Thanks for the helpful nuggets!
