    Content over perfection. I agree, sometime you have to play with the cards and situations you are dealt with. I have been rushed before but the content is what is golden sometimes!!

    Beautiful work and great break down! Thanks for sharing! Yeah the hat covering eyes can always be a little bit of a challenge. A lot of the time when people are wearing hats, I just ask them to tip their hat back a little bit to pull the shadow off their eyes. That way you’re really not affecting the authenticity of their style. But are still able to catch the light in their eyes.

    All of these are great setups, composition and lighting is on point! Even with little to no time, you should pat yourself on the back for getting the job done! The guy at 6:34 I think might be a little too dark for my taste it might just be the almost clipping windows making me wish there was a tiny bit more light on the subject but these are great starting points for an editing. Especially with how easy it is to make a power window and track a subject in davinci resolve a good editor should be able to make the subject pop even more but if I was an editor and was handed this footage I wouldn't be complaining!

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 5 měsíci

      With it shot in SLog3 there should be wiggle room. You are right about tweaking it in post. I let it play, and will leave it to the editor for creative control. Thanks so much for watching!

    Personally I don't mind brighter backgrounds and windows at around 90% of the IRE scale - it's the outside, it's supposed to be bright, it doesn't have to be ND'd down all the way to 50% IRE value. Every single one of your shots looks gorgeous, my favorite is the one with natural light at 6:30 because I can really tell it's natural and it gives a more documentary style feel, not as polished as some high-end productions might be.

    Words can't express how grateful I am for the content you've published, I've done a super deep dive of a significant amount of your content and I feel it's completely upped my lighting game, and I've re-invested a hefty amount into lighting gear and equipment that I now realise I was completely lacking.
    I have an upcoming shoot that will be outdoors, any tips on using the large diffusion/reflector outdoors and the best way to keep it stable? Looked like you didn't have any issues even in windy conditions. Do you clip it at both ends, tie it or something like that? I have c stands, arms, sand bags, etc, but I really want to make sure it's as solid as can be for my upcoming shoot. Thanks man!

    @PDMokry, I study your vids intently -- another master class! As a solo operator, often dealing with tight spaces and on the fly setups, this one really spoke to me. Question for you, do you have a rapid workflow that you use when switching angles --I would assume it's easier to do with a high key flat lighting arrangement. I have a job coming up with 15 rapid fire interviews with employees of a firm and am wondering how to create novelty so it's not the same angle with each. Thank you, Sensei!

      I actually really liked the exposure for the man at 7:00, I think it was very in keeping with the natural light occurring in the room and felt very natural overall, I guess like PD says, it does come down to subjective opinion at the end of the day!

    Would you elaborate onyour boom pole, mic and windscreen that you used? I'm assuming here with limited time, the boom pole was your only direct audio source with camera scratch audio? On your primary gigs, do you normally have a wireless lav alongside a boom pole?

    • @PDMokry

      I opt for a boom 99% of the time. Sounds so much better. The Sennheiser 416 has a Rycote Super Softie connected to a K-Tek carbonfiber boom pole.
