This is one of the mossssst detailed videos on a setup on a real-world project I've ever seen. I love your workflow and covering everything. Every time I watch your videos and process, I learn something new. I'm sure there are a lot of people watching this video who don't have access to a mentor (or don't live near NYC/Hollywood) who are learning so much from this. This is hugely valuable education. Thank you for sharing!

Quality! So much work to do for one person, making it harder to maintain the quality 👍

Happy to have met you and have gotten your channel details! I'm all in on Aputure lights myself and one day want to get a 600 series or a 1200 series. Having had clients that want to have the scene out the window it's a lot tougher only using a 200x!

Wow, only 30 minutes to set up is really tight. You handled it well and the results work. Don’t let clients see this or we will all be limited to only 30 minutes!!!
I also rely on false color for lighting. The results don’t lie, and minimizes the challenge of working with an uncalibrated monitor.

Awesome job! Expose for background & false color, love that. Something that’s easy to overlook

At this point it’s rare for me to have more than 30 minutes to set up an interview. Great work!

Really nice and quick OMB work! The BTS time lapse w/narrative and false color breakdown was very informative.
I always carry an Aputure Accent B7c LED RGBWW Light for use in practical lights. You can dial in the color temp and dim through Sidus app. Ask Aputure to send you a full kit ;)
I also always run time code out to second camera for fast sync/multi-cam creation in post… BNC TC out/in is one of the great advantages of those cameras.
As others have commented: the ballast can counterweight the softbox weight if you place on opposite sides on stand.
You are creating great teaching tools with these videos. All the best!

I like your 'short lighting' setup combined with wraparound and soft light.
I rarely get 30min to setup an indoor shot with 2 cams. I therefore go with LAVs and two battery powered LED panel for light.
Sometimes it feels a bit like a driveby shooting.

I love seeing the output vs that strong day light. Here I was plotting on getting a 300 but it seems a 600 is more for what I would need to record similar interviews. thank you for this

the LD 150 seems like a great option for quick setup and tighter spaces where a book light won't fit. You don't have links to your combo stands. Both the 150 and some combo stands will be my next purchase.

Awesome video man! Thank you for making these videos always learning something from you. Images look amazing. I just did a gig and my setup time was roughly about the same, 30 mins. Definitely little room for error, but if you come prepared, it's tight time at worse. There have been shoots where i didn't come prepared had the same or less time to setup and it didn't go nearly as smooth.

You're rushing, something may get missed and you end up blowing the audio since you're not an audio guy by trade.... this is where 32bit float makes the most sense for me. For solo operators and people who often find themselves in this scenario where you have to do a million things in a short amount of time or you don't have a dedicated sound guy.

I use the FX6 so often that it does not come into play. The FX6 allows a safety track, so clipping would take a lot.
I agree it is a lot for one person, but I got it done.

You mentioned briefly the client's small budget. Would you mind sharing the ball park figure they quoted you? Assuming a full day rate at $1500, a second hand helper at $50 an hour would be $400 for their work for the day. This would net you $1100 for an hour of work outside of the travel time.

  • @PeacefulMoments1844

Nice! One question, I am a little surprised you had to take off the honey comb grid at 100%. I was under the impression that the Aperture 600x put out more than sufficient light. Do you think it would have helped to bring in the light a little closer to the subject?

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 2 měsíci

Closer would block the interviewer and then moving it to the right would reduce wrap. Tough with a huge softbox like this.

Do you have any audio issues running a shotgun gun mic for interiors, especially with hard floors? Also, any recommendations for an external monitor with good peaking for the FX6? Next time you’re up in the Lubbock area, you’ve got an open invitation for lunch.

600 ballast and dirt bag on the same side as 150 dome. Thats imbalanced, one small bump from behind and that gonna crash.
180 degrees around the stand would been better.
