    That minimal kit warms my hearth 😍 I want to build one like that that can fit into a Thinktank Studio Manager 50. 2 tripods, 3 stands, 1 light 1 softbox,1 tubelight , 2 cameras, 2 lenses, boompole , audio recorder and done. A single kit that's easy to move and takes up no space.

    If there are light reflections in glass, I like to get a shot of the space with lights causing the reflections off. This gives me the option to mask them out in post if I don’t like them

  • @allen_bernardo_jr
    @allen_bernardo_jr Před měsícem

    do you think it could've also worked to maybe bounce the key light onto the wall to help keep the shadow side on the camera side? Also maybe a polarizer to help cut some reflections, though I think the reflections looked fine too 👍

    This is the reality of most testimonial shoots - cramped, dull/ugly location, windows that reflect equipment, etc. You handled it well. I agree about the 2 person interview as well; my only exception is... we shoot a lot of medical testimonials and usually it's a patient and his/her partner and there is usually great emotionality between the two and they play off each other.

    Your picture looks way better than the earlier examples . Think I might have used neg fill rather than bounce , and totally agree on your two person interview comments , have had the same discussion almost word for word ! , always the one person sitting there saying nothing , and massive compromise on lighting and framing . I once did a remote shoot and was told it was 4 x 1 person interviews ,I get there and some PR droid insists it has to 4 people in the one shot , talking turns to answer the questions ! . I refused to shoot it like that ,as I knew I would be blamed ! , I recorded her telling me it must be 4 people in frame ,left the location , sat in my car and contacted the client . It soon got changed but no apology from this idiot on site.

    I don't like the reflections personally, so I think my approach would have been to shoot into the plain corner with a gobo-type light pattern behind them. Maybe a faux window blind or a funky shape on a dim setting just to make it not plain. Also, the practical is super harsh so either a piece of tint in the lamp to bring it down some of swap it with a dimmable bulb. All in all you did great in that small space!

    • @robinprobyn1971
      @robinprobyn1971 Před měsícem

      Don't think there would be any room for setting up another light and then a gobo in front of that , need some distance to get anything like a decent "window" or any "pattern" for that matter . That white wall background would have been visual death in that cupboard location .

    If you didn’t like the reflections, I feel like a grid on the light dome could help quite a bit. Really liking these videos though. Helpful to see how you are lighting these smaller spaces and working within the limitations of the space.

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před měsícem

      Yes and no! For smaller crew and more control, I grab the 50mm. The 35mm often requires bigger stands for booming or you get too close to the subject.

    Nice work, Piotr. Yeah, I think the client's grading was a bit hot. But I get that they want that high-key commercial look. Also, I bet yoiu are tired of me asking gear questions, but... So agencies don't mind that you are shooting on a7 IV cameras? Do they just specify to shoot on a Sony camera but tht they don't care which model? Or do they not even require you to shoot on a Sony camera? I only ask because I really can;t decide whether to stick with Panasonic or move to Sony, and I am afraid that agencies would turn me down if I shoot on Panasonic. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
