    I like A the most: subtle negative fill to create contrast, but still high key so fitting for client work.
    Love that you keep it simple yet thorough, please keep making more of these!

    D is definitely my favorite, but also the most dramatic. C looks more appropriate for high key cooperate, but yes D is my personal fav.

    Great piece as always. For this type of shoot I always go for the more corporate look with some shadow rather than the darker neg fill look as I think that it suits the majority of corporate jobs I do. The client is generally trying to show something new, whether its a product or interior so I try and keep it light...

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 2 měsíci

      Clients always lean on the safe and soft look. But that is what pays, so we have to roll with it.

    I like C the best, but I lean towards favoring less of a contrasty look. Great breakdown. I enjoy your channel.

  • @marinrealestatephotography
    @marinrealestatephotography Před 3 měsíci

    Probably c. It depends on the overall mood though. Not everything is serious enough to need a lot of negative. And a lot of times, having more frontal / flatter lighting is the right play (particularly for females).

  • @GeorgeGuillory
    @GeorgeGuillory Před 3 měsíci

    Great video! Love that you started doing lighting breakdowns and false color LUT analysis.
    B/C look great for corporate/interview styles. D reminds me of documentary-style run and gun, almost like you have a single key light.

  • @th8132
    @th8132 Před 3 měsíci +2

    I'm big on context of the script for lighting choices, so it seems B would be the best choice. But I don't know the script. Never understand the youtube educated "filmmakers/videographers" that light everything to be "cinematic" and therefore would prefer D or something.

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Totally agree! I am a CZcams taught shooter that also works, so I am a different breed.

  • @JulioBHJ
    @JulioBHJ Před 3 měsíci +1

    There you go, that's a space I can work with! 😄 Awesome shots, especially the tight angle with the almost halo-like practicals in the background. Regarding fill, I'd agree with C the most, since you would have needed to black out the entire left wall and it could have looked a bit too artificial. The way that you ended up doing it is just perfect, if I was the client I'd sign your paycheck with a smile. 😁

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 3 měsíci

      I was so happy about that! But you would not have believed me when they wanted to cram me into a tiny room. I said no way!
      The big challenge was not loosing the background, so the shadows had to be lifted to battle the sun coming through the windows. This is one where more dynamic range would have helped.
      I agree, where it landed was just right and goes with the feel of the project.

    I like A the best. Great work as always. Curious about the ratchet strap, do you find that easier to set up vs having a shot bag on the backside of the boom? And is there a weight/ balance point where you would prefer the ratchet over a shot/ sand bag?

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 2 měsíci

      So I like to balance my booms. That often means adding a shot bag. Then the ratchet is an extra safety measure.

    Appreciate these videos. However, the lighting makes the guy looked photoshopped in this one 😬 For one, I think a hard kicker/back light from a spotlight (coming from the right to motivate sunlight) would have helped. The tube is too soft and barely does a thing.
