Cross Key is such a simple and effective technique that so many get wrong. This is darn near perfect! Excellent.

I wouldn't change anything on that setup, it looks awesome. Since the moody look is what Danny was going for, you nailed it. Plays nice with the darker background too.

nice work man, personally I might have went for a bit more lift on the shadow side, but when you said it's what the client was going after in a way that's what it comes down to lol so if the client was after the look it was done well 👍

Good stuff! Those type of interviews are always challenging . I like the ratchet straps used for support.

Agreed, the ratchet straps for safety do add a certain professionality to the setup.

It looks good, but in my corporate world, softer lighting is more flattering to the people on camera. Most of my interviewees are in the healthcare field, in scrubs and have wrinkles and blemishes. Soft lighting helps hide those imperfections. Trying to keep them all happy.

the boom arms make this possible. this setup can't work unless the roof is higher or we see stands.

Looks great! Well done. What do you think about using net on the rim light sides and bounce the shadow sides to soften it for a less dramatic look?

The lighting looks "serious," so if they were discussing serious issues, then I guess it would be appropriate.

What light boom stands are you using? Great video!

Looks like the standard Matthews Combo stands, maybe the double riser one.

Do you charge PER light or do you offer all your fixtures as part of a flat rate package?

I have my light set to a la carte pricing. But I do have flexibility based on how many units they request. But I have a clear line item list of my lights and their price per day. I don't do features, so I never do 2 or 3 day weeks.

Is that the D650? Do you still recommend it now, or is there a better boom arm? Looking for one that bigger than the kupo baby boom, that work with a combo stand, so junior pin.

In my opinion the D650 is the most quality you will get for a reasonable price. There's an even bigger one from Manfrotto, called the Superboom, but it is way bulkier and not as nice to work with.

Your question at 5:22 about fill side. In my opinion on Danny you lose the definition in his jawline and personally raising the fill light a little bit more would be where I land. Just being able to see that definition makes for a less moody dramatic lighter feel for a long form piece of content look such as a podcast.

Nice but I think this is actually called reverse key not cross key
