You need a much much finer grind then that to pull a good shot out of la pavoni, otherwise great job on resto.

I have a newer one of these that I use for making silver wire.

Hi. I just bought a used La Povoni Dal 1905 Mccchine per caffe that needs some love very similar to this model. So, I am taking a crack at restoring it. I would appreciate it if someone could answer a few questions for me: (1) During assembly, at 22:14, 28:26, 29:02, 29:17, 29:24, 29:53 he used a blue gel on the threads. Does anyone know what this blue gel is? I assume it is either thread seal or rust protection. (2) During assembly, at 26;08, it states "Please use only special grease for coffee machines". Does anyone know where to get this grease? (3) Unfortunately, I do not have access to a Digital Ultrasonic Cleaner used at 9:40. What else could I soak the parts in to clean and get rid of any lime etc.? (4) Likewise, I do not have the equipment or skill to do chrome plating at 11:17. What would be the best alternative way to clean & restore the chrome? (5) What is the solution used for cleaning at 19:09? Thanks to anyone for any help you can give me. Please respond with any info you think would be helpful. I believe I'll be able to get this fine machine back to good working order. Its in much better shape than the one you restored so I won't have to worry about electrical wire replacement etc. Your video is a great help. The one part I am very confidant in following, is the step at 21:00, Thanks in advance to anyone with advice or a comment.

Looks very good! The bubbles in the clear plastic cap look fine. They are all small and rather evenly distributed. It looks intentional; and given that metal flake in plastic would become popular not long after that grinder was made. So, it looks really good. Thank you for showing us this grinder.

I love this kind of videos and with yours it felt like i was also learning something, so keep the good job, and keep on talking about the processes, don't be afraid to be repetitive or technical. I love learning about restorations.

Inspired by your video, I just purchased a Dec. 1978 La Pavoni Europiccola model that appears copper and brass - not sure it its coated or solid. Any suggestions for how to arrive at that insight, so I can decide best way forward on restoration? Thank you!

Liked the Bob Ross reference with the, ' happy little accident', line. That base is phenomenal. Seen from the right angle it has a 3-D look, like a huge stairway. Greatly pronounced during the oiling. Very well done.

Very nice work! I would not have thought it possible to restore that lock. I was impressed with the poetry! I lived in Germany for many years when I was young and learned German well; and it gave me an appreciation for how difficult English is by comparison. To write poetry in English is impressive! Also, that beer... we had Tucher in the Hunsrück too. But I preferred the Pilsner. Most often we had Königsbacher locally. Very good though. Thank you for your videos. Always a pleasure to watch.

That one got me in the feels. I have a very similar lighter that my grandfather acquired in the 1940s. It is unrestored but has been in consistent use since that time. 80-ish years. It still works very well and lights the first time almost every time. Good quality from a time when craftsmanship was important to people. Thank you for the little journey through memory lane. Excellent choice in beer as well. Grolsch is always a favorite, and much like the lighter the bottle harkens back to better times.
