Workshop 009 Dealing with Dealies
As this project matures, there are more and more things to deal with. And they're all connected. I can't do this without that. But that can't be done until you finish this. Etc. Best bet I think is to just let my eyes wander a bit until I focus on something and tackle that for a little bit. Until something else catches my eye, and SQUIRREL!

Workshop 008 What Goes Where
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 12 hodinami
A place for everything. And everything in it's place. That makes it so you can find stuff when you need it. As is, the new shop is a disaster. That is as expected I guess since the new space is still getting put together. But this chaos will not do for very long before my eyes start to twitch. So, I put up some shelves and hung some stuff up. I did this knowing that eventually it would all have...

I've been meaning to share this for a while now. It's funny how life gets in the way and so much time can pass before you get to the things you want to do. Speaking of which, I need to get back out on the water and get some new fishing video footage! Though, I still have a few important things to wrap up with the new mobile shop first before the hot weather gets here. I'm a lucky guy to have so...
Workshop 007 From Death Comes Life

It's moving day! Time to dismantle my beloved truck workshop so that the trailer workshop may germinate like a seed breaking through the soil in springtime. So it goes. Although dead now as a place to tinker and drive, my F150 will live on, roaming green kayaky pastures. My love now will have to be torn in two as my new crush digs deeper into my heart like a tick. Well, maybe that's not quite r...

Ya see, 'All I Gotta Do Is...' HA! Finishing these doors has been plagued with such hopes and dreams. That little strip in-between the doors STILL isn't done as of the time I edited this episode and wrote these words. I did manage to accumulate several hundred GIGS of video though. That should keep me busy for a while before I catch up. That's a shame because I am itching to show off some of th...
Workshop 004 Trimming the Doors

This'll not only make the doors look good and tidy up the gaps, but the trim preforms a function as well. As a doorstop, an aid to keeping the weather out, and will also push the doors back a little into the frame of the truck. The further the doors tuck back, the less the dirt and junk from the trees should accumulate and the rain might just not be so inclined to enter the gap at the top. Rece...

Using cement board might be unorthodox but the results are turning out quite nice so far. The mistake of not squaring the frames before adding the braces also wound up producing a design aspect that I've grown to really like that would otherwise never have happened if things went 'right'. Day two is here! The new trailer doors start to take shape. Step one in the construction of my new shop was to get to a point that I can secure the inside from weather and theft. No space is worth a darn if the stuff you put inside it gets wet or walks away. Hello Marty. Thank you for your videos, they are instructive and entertaining at the same time. So, after some more months with this Recon 120 HD, do you like it? I want to buy my first fishing kayak, but they are so expensive up here in Canada (the home of the Pelican!). Not as many choices either as in the USA. And after much thinking, I think I want a pedal drive, not a fin drive (they require a lot of care, and no reverse, among other reasons). I hesitate between a no-name version of the Hammerhead Baby Shard (VK-32 MARIUS) and this Wilderness Recon 120 HD with its fancy drive and its stability thanks to its generous size (I'm 250 lbs.). I don't expect you to choose for me, but did the Recon grew on you after all? Thank you for your attention.

  • @christopherbowersdresser4188

    with a solar array its less expensive to wire your system in series, as you can run lower gauge cables / connectors / fuses etc... but the down side is if even one panel is shaded it shuts down solar intake. i hate to suggest the more expensive option of wiring in parallel but with your workshop being shaded like it is that might be the best option. or relocate the workshop to an area with a clear view of the sky. also for max performance allow the panels to be tilted. in your area for 2024 the optimum solar panel tilt angle is 28* from horizontal. this will allow you to get "full sun" for longer. a quick solution would be to use stainless door hinges to allow your array to pivot say to the passenger side and point that side to the east. maybe a 12v actuator to lower the panels back to flat, this will allow you to capture more "full sun" at the end of the day. and they wont be up in the air when you need to drive somewhere. id be happy to help design the mechanics of it for you. i have done it several times for myself always conscious of budget, im a clever man not a wealthy one.

    Small suggestion 🤔 Install solar panels so that there is an air gap. the panels will provide some shade and airflow will reduce heat at the roof level. 👍

    • @christopherbowersdresser4188
      @christopherbowersdresser4188 Před dnem

      also, the air gap will keep the panel temp lower, in doing so the panel will be more efficient.
