- Using cement board might be unorthodox but the results are turning out quite nice so far. The mistake of not squaring the frames before adding the braces also wound up producing a design aspect that I've grown to really like that would otherwise never have happened if things went 'right'. I wonder what other delights fate will throw at this project that has just begun!

I think not editing out the process is important. Your skills are excellent, yet you show how to fix your mistakes. I always live watching your videos
Its much more relatable and entertaining to watch someone make the same mistakes most of us would make rather watch someone work like a robot getting everything right on the first try. Its the best way to learn imo.
using carriage bolts would be a little less easy to break into
lol, i came to comment "so anybody with a hex head driver can remove the screws and gain access to the trailer?"
Great video, thanks for sharing
Nice one Marty! I would have been tempted, as someone mentioned in the last video, to use hinges that would allow the doors to open around flat to the trailer sides, and some wooden blocks on the inside of the hinge screws would have made it stronger. Stay safe & well. 👍👍
I used a spring loaded barrel bolt, or a step bolt on the bottom of my inactive door. I like how it works. That's a neat see through roof. Thanks
Thank you for not editing out mistakes, i think you may have wanted to use nuts and bolts to secure those doors
Digging the build videos bud! Keep it up!
Hello Marty, great video as always. Sometimes a support wire can be added from the top right of the finished door to the bottom left including a turnbuckle to adjust out eventual sag in the door. Do the same with the opposite mating door, and then it can be readjusted as needed. Also the opening of the trailer may lean slightly depending on slope the trailer is parked on and weight attached to the walls of the trailer (shelves / hooks / bins whatever and the load the trailer wall is asked to support. The trailer is designed to flex some while going down the road. One other thing, try to park the trailer where it can get some shade from the sun, otherwise it becomes a giant oven. LoL 73 and GOD bless. Earnest K5EWM.
Really digging this build series Marty, thanks for showing us your mistakes so we don't duplicate them some day. Cheers!
nice job Marty, Keep up the good work!
You can measure corner to corner also to check square. Love your vids!
Love seeing THE WHOLE PROCESS Marty...nice work again!
I like the pellet gun targets. Doors are nice too. 😉
Awesome man!!! 👊🏻🤙🏻
The top diagonal braces should be turned the other way and point up from the hinge. Just CZcams gate supports. Plenty of information out there. Aloha 🤙🏾
nice doors heavy hinges need soon but you know that, its gonna be great.
Moments before fitting the hinges I was thinking, good for stationary use and to get started using the workshop. Hopefully longer stronger hinges that mount right on the outside of the doorframe so they can open fully and lock against the side of the trailer will be found. the work- around the droopy doors was a masterclass. I'm shortly going to put up a polytunnel greenhouse and am going to use this technique to get the doors right.
I could see standard heavy duty door hinges working best here, with the attachment holes concealed on the inside frames - similar to those on a house door. If dirtbags wanted to get to the contents inside, all they would need to do to gain entry would be to simply remove a handful of screws on one door. Would hate to see all of your efforts get poached Marty.
@@BigDukeX Exactly he will get there I agree d with your ANalogy sir I’m sure this is temporary just FYI I didn’t think the scumbags could get into a Connex Box / Ship container nada nuttin to them jus sayin fellers
If you're shooting for square, measure diagonal corners, outside corner to outside corner. If the measurements match, it's square, but not necessarily flat/plumb.
Good job as usual, looks cool.
Commenting for the algorithm. C’mon CZcams do your thing.
I would put some metal gate on the inside for break in protection. You could hang tools on it.
Dude u remind me of my older brother love ur videos
Nice, looks good!
Mornin 🖐😎👍
Carpentry is a learning process
They make specific screws for the stuff. Couldn't tell if you had them >< love your videos!
Great job Marty,it's coming along nicely!
THAT is one sexy door!!!
Looks great. A continuous hinge might be the way to go though
Love all of your projects Marty.
Thats soo cool man
Can't wait to see what is next. 👍😎
The new gusset design looks awesome.
Sometimes I forget Marty is from New York. Then I hear him say something like, "You'd have no clue."
You realize that those upper angle braces are only going to contribute to sag rather than resist it, right? Gravity and all. The weight at the top inside corners of the doors should be braced down to the hinge side. A joint in compression is far, far superior to one in tension.
The door new brackets now look like the sun and its rays. You should paint those brackets yellow to look like the sun.
Maybe add 2 more hinges per door? Might be easier and cheaper to do? fun to watch!
You could always add 1-2 more hinges to each door to carry the weight if you think sagging could be a problem. Nice doors though.
You want inside fastened hinges as someone can just walk up with a screw driver and open your door
Nice
I would never assume the trailer door opening was square.
all the pollen in the trees. i would die
As you let yr tape go and it flipped I said to my self my old wood shop teacher would hv yelled at you and then you said what you said 😅😅
Almost need to set the opening up in a level area first and pull the hypotenuse
Don’t know much about doors so perhaps my comment is silly but with the hinge fasteners exposed, would it be easy for a thief to unscrew the doors to get access to the trailer contents?
Piano hinges
Is the opening square
Tout le temps se mesuré 2 a 3 fois!!! All the time mesure 2-3 time!!!
Isn't that board stuff basically extra hard dry wall which will absorb all the moisture and crumble?
actually, it is a cement and fiber board. They make a version of this product for house siding. When painted it's some tough stuff, I've seen people using a pressure washer to keep it clean. I can't bring myself to do that, but I do use a garden hose with no problems.🔨🪚
Constructive criticism,Why not glue, then screw, the cement board to the framing,it stiffens it.
O.g Marty is human lol it happens
Why don't you measure corner to corner?
Trailer floor is saggy in the middle
