- On this day, I installed two things that make my truck feel like it is much closer to being a worthy addition to any good, post-apocalyptic, dystopian world, full of zombies. Or just better prepared in case I get stuck in a ditch and need to charge my cell phone ;^)

Marty - I'm sorry the boat trip didn't work out, and I hope you're OK with the change of plans. Personally, I'm glad you're back in Florida and making videos again. I enjoy most of them, but especially the ones where you build stuff. As a craftsman myself, I have a deep respect for your abilities and vision there. You have a gift for working with your hands that I can appreciate.
WOWW MARTY IS COME BACK, IM VERY HAPPY!!💜💜💜
Great to see you back. I would love to have my little homemade camper in a spot like that! Enjoy
Marty, as far as winches are concerned (I did not do it myself because I am lazy) there are a couple of ways you can "hide" or "make it neat". People remove hook entirely and some fairleads come with a little knob around which they wrap the loop. Other folk attach a winch shackle mount. I personally took the hook and it allows me to rotate it 90 degrees flush against the fair lead and that is how I have been drving for 2 years now. I decided to just let it be.
Hope You Had A Merry Christmas Marty! Let’s Go Catch Some Fish For 2024!
I stumbled across your channel a while back when I was looking to make outriggers for my kayak but I subscribed after watching more of your videos because I too like to add personal touches to my stuff and figured I could get some more ideas. This looks like one of those ideas I’m gonna have to do to my truck 😎
I LIKE THE PELICAN CATCH THEME OF YOUR TRUCK! 😂😅
Can't wait to see it in action in one of your adventures
I'm loving the daily life aspect that you've generated with your channel very kool hello from alaska
Awesome, love everything you do and accomplish.
Not even the truck is safe from Marty's Holey Wrath!
Great to see you back.
I got a front receiver for my truck. made a winch plate so I can move my winch from front to rear of truck when needed by just pulling the pin. used anderson powerpole conectors to power it. I can plug jumper cables into the powerpoles also to jump someone else or myself.
Nice one Marty! Greetings from across the pond. Been busy here so on a CZcams catch-up. Stay safe & well. 👍👍
I love you're builds. You are a craftsman sir. It takes one to know one. When the boss picks you to do the work in the showroom it's a happy day at work. My Grandfather said It has to be right. I have to look at it when it's done. Good content my dude. Keep it up.
It's good to see you back on the CZcams hamster wheel. I loved how you didn't reveal why you were installing the solar panel until the end!
You're a braver man than me. Can't see myself drilling into the hood of a nice truck! I appreciate your willingness to try things a lot of people wouldn't. Look forward to more videos!
I miss you buddy. Have been there since I was dreaming about home while in Iraq. In 2011. Watching youtube fishing. You were one of the first. Even though you are not that greatat fishing yet... you are good at everything else. Hope to see you improving your fishing skills in 2024 and beyond
Just a tip for future projects on your vehicle, applying some painters tape over the area that you will be drilling or cutting can help preserve the paint in that surrounding area and keep it from chipping. At least that’s always worked for me.
Good to see you back. I was just thinking the other day that I haven’t seen any new content from you in a while
Yo Marty, I appreciate the update.
Nice!!! Great to you back!!!
Glad to see you're back in Florida
Looking forward to watching some of your kayak fishing trips😊
Just wondering where your dogs are
Hey Marty, thanks for sharing, looking forward to those fishing videos. Hope your Christmas was good n your New year even better
I love your DIY projects. More please.
Solar panel looks great on the truck, nice addition !
Nice project, reminds me of the small panel Nissan installed on some of its older models to combat parasitic draw that came from the factory.
My suburban sits a lot , I only use it when I need a truck or trailer.
The battery would draw dead in a few days. I plugged a small solar panel, like yours and just keep it on the dash works great and I never have to jump it any more.
Also you should have a fuse or breaker on the circuit.
Nice to see your video today
Ahh sold the boat but still have the urge to drill holes in things. At least these holes won't affect the truck's ability to float! ;)
Great to see you like in the old days... welcome back and wishes of a great new year ahead for you. Love your videos.
Welcome home 🏡!
Love your channel Marty! Build more custom stuff!!!! 🎉
Glad you're back (on the Tube and in FL). Don't know how it works, but can you add a "Bell" to your channel to alert us when you've posted new content?
Thank you Marty to take the time to do videos, big fan here, happy new year from Argentina!
Man I can’t wait for the new adventures brother! 🤙🏻
Good to see ya Zoff , COOL PLACE YOU GOT THERE .👍😎
Looking forward to it Marty!
Nice job Marty!
Glad to see you back can't wait till the next adventure
Nice work! Glad to see your videos again!
Nice work! Happy New Year!
Hi Marty, great to see you back. If not the mod king, definitely a good runner up. Lol. Through the years, efforts to improve things have paid off. Pelican has come out with new models that look like you have definitely had a hand in the design of the product. The catch 110 is a good example of that influence.
Great job as always Marty, Happy New Year and 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM.
Nice to see ya again! Been awhile !
Happy New Year!!
Good to see you back at it. All the best for 2024
2024 will be civil war
Finally i get to a video early! You are always creating something which i envy.
Marty glad you are back in the warmth.
What is the make and model of the solar panel you used?
Would have been cool to see a hinge on the bottom or top of the plate. That way it could fold out of the way and you wouldn't need to take some screws out if you got into a pickle
Florida survival truck.
Awesome
Wow 👍🏾👍🏾
Another cool job, solar on the hood. One thing I saw and hit me fast, the medal shaving you just brushed on the ground. It can be a big danger to your pups and other animals. Can't believe you missed that. Take care Marty Love you. John
you remember those old school license plate hangers that were spring loaded on the rear bumper to access the fuel fill neck, that would be cool on the front for the winch. access, i noticed the wood statues at the end, are you making them again? thats some of the first videos i seen besides the red kayak you accessorized back in the day.
The big statue was the one from my boat. The smaller one with googly eyes is just a birdbath/feeder. The latter was fun and easy. Maybe I'll video the next one I make.
maybe consider layn on some type of coating around the bare metal, where it was cut great idea marty!
a great spot for solar panels... on top of the topper!
I think that truck needs a jet engine strapped to it...
Nice mod, Marty. I'd be worried about corrosion on the edges of the cut, as it appears you didn't apply any paint or coating to the exposed metal. I also wonder about the controller overheating in the summer when the engine is putting out max heat. Perhaps you can put some thermally reflective shield on the sound deadening pad where the controller is.
It's an aluminum hood, corrosion from an edge like that really isn't an issue.
@truracer20 oh that's right! I forgot ford switched mediums on the pickups. If not polished, it will still suffer from some corrosion and flaking, though. You're right, definitely not like steel would.
I cringed watching you cut that hood, same as I always cringe watching you cut up brand new kayaks. Came out great though, just like the kayaks always do!
It does look cool kind of put it in the bottom of the video Put at the bottom in the comments section or whatever. So we'll know what solar panel you've got and where you got it
I did not know your boat sold, I knew it was for sale though! Can you provide or will you provide more information about your boat sale? Also, just curious, whose land are you actually camping on? I don't know if I missed any of this stuff but if I did I'm sorry for being redundant but I don't think I did because you haven't had a whole lot of videos out over the last 6 months to a year!
Solar panel install gave me anxiety…
👍
what happened to your kayak rental place brother?
I've been using Walmart marine battery's for a few years in my F150. Prior I had the same issue, dead battery if didn't start for a week. Slick winch mount, is it one of the $199 Rough Country ones?
That's the one!
🖐😎👍
looks like you are living in the woods near a highway
For now...
Spray paint that topper 😅
Could you have wired it through the fire wall following some existing wires? Maybe then just prop it up on your dash board. Way less intrusive than cutting up your hood for a cheap solar panel that will eventually fail.
Second ❤
Dude was it worth hacking up the truck for that. As opposed to fixing the draw…..
This guy has to much frèe time . Seriously ... If your battery is dying that fast , bring it to the dealership .
Haha. Yeah, WHAT WAS I thinking? I could get that 'Free" oil change while I'm at the dealership too :^)
Iam sorry but I have to let you go
I'll call ya back later.
It won't rust because it's a Ford and made of weak aluminium ,so that's a plus
