Coffee Enzoni cocktail recipe

The Enzoni (czcams.com/video/1kKgoGVVFmc/video.html) is a personal favorite of mine. I first shared it in 2020 and the video has received almost 700,000 views (other people love it too!). I also featured it more recently in my top 3 cocktails video (czcams.com/video/5GPVsfbUJ0U/video.html) a few weeks ago before stumbling across Dan Fellows' caffeinated version. I knew I had to try it immediately and it did not disappoint!
The Coffee Enzoni is a pretty straight forward variation on the original Enzoni with the use of black grapes instead of green, and the addition of coffee liqueur. Whilst the original Enzoni is bright and bitter, the Coffee Enzoni is dark, rich and brooding.
It features rich bitter coffee notes and a juicy, muscat grape flavor.
Worth noting...
Dan used an extra dry coffee liqueur with 100g of sugar per litre. Mr Black has 250g per litre. For comparison, Kahlua has 400g per litre. As a result, he adds 10 ml of a 2:1 light muscovado syrup to balance the drink. Because I used Mr Black, the additional syrup isn't required.
INGREDIENTS
- 6-8 black grapes
- 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) Mr Black coffee liqueur
- 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) London dry gin
- 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) Campari
- 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) lemon juice
- 5 drops of saline solution (1:4)
DAN'S RECIPE
- 6-8 black grapes
- 20 ml extra dry coffee liqueur (100g sugar per litre)
- 20 ml London dry gin
- 20 ml Campari
- 20 ml lemon juice
- 10 ml light muscovado syrup (2:1)
- 0.5 grams saline solution (1:5)

Japanese rarely drink their whiskey highballs with Japanese whiskey. usually its Speyside or Highland whiskey.
This looks great! I had never even heard of the Enzoni till I caught it on your chan!
Is this neat, dry, or dirty?
My favourite cocktail sat outside in the garden on a sunny day. The grapes make a difference. Black grapes are superior to red grapes. Sable black grapes in another league. Use ten grapes. The ratio of the ingredients is critical. I'm trying an experiment. Substitute a date and scoop out a fresh fig, seeped in gin, Campari and coffee liqueur, in the fridge for 24 hours.
Thanks for the recipe. Those ingredients together are intriguing and something I've never had before
I just made an Enzoni yesterday to celebrate a warm (N. Hemisphere) spring evening. I cannot wait to try this one!! Be well, my friend, and keep the great recipes coming!
I have also prefered the second version. Any thoughts about a good world wide available gin for this one?
You should try a Tequila Penicillin. I had one recently and it’s excellent. You can use blanco or reposado tequila, or both.
Mouthwatering indeed. So true, an evening version of a Negroni. Thanks for good video.
Lookin strong n healthy mate! Great to see! Carry on!
Love it. Thanks to you and your channel, Campari went from the least used bottle in my bar to the most used.
Thanks so much for sharing, Steve! To anyone making this drink, I really hope you enjoy it! Let me know how you get on! 🍇☕️
grapes..... what kind of grapes? I would think it would change the taste
I used Sable grapes but any black grape will do. Even a red grape would work, but it will likely be a touch sweet and less crisp.
@@DANFELLOWScoffeecocktails thank you. I subscribed too!
@@fadelj1 good on you man. Steve has been through a lot and needs all our love and support.
The grapes make a big difference. Black grapes better than red grapes. Sable black grapes take black grapes to another level. Use ten grapes.
I really like you dont edit out the little bit where the skewered grapes slid down and tapped you in the nose. This does sound really good ...and I was starting to wonder how it was going to compare until you mentioned that original called for a bit of simple. With the sweeter liqueurs, you can adjust. This is going on my list of drinks to try at my next 'lets try these cocktails" night.
Thank you for this version. I can't get Algebra where I am (no one carries it) so Mr Black is the driest coffee liquor I have. I'm going to make these at a friend's party later this month! Cheers!
Just clarify it
