The Enzoni ( • Enzoni - my favourite ... ) is a personal favorite of mine. I first shared it in 2020 and the video has received almost 700,000 views (other people love it too!). I also featured it more recently in my top 3 cocktails video ( • 3 Greatest Cocktail Re... ) a few weeks ago before stumbling across Dan Fellows' caffeinated version. I knew I had to try it immediately and it did not disappoint!
The Coffee Enzoni is a pretty straight forward variation on the original Enzoni with the use of black grapes instead of green, and the addition of coffee liqueur. Whilst the original Enzoni is bright and bitter, the Coffee Enzoni is dark, rich and brooding.
It features rich bitter coffee notes and a juicy, muscat grape flavor.
    Worth noting...
Dan used an extra dry coffee liqueur with 100g of sugar per litre. Mr Black has 250g per litre. For comparison, Kahlua has 400g per litre. As a result, he adds 10 ml of a 2:1 light muscovado syrup to balance the drink. Because I used Mr Black, the additional syrup isn't required.
    INGREDIENTS
    - 6-8 black grapes
    - 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) Mr Black coffee liqueur
    - 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) London dry gin
    - 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) Campari
    - 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) lemon juice
    - 5 drops of saline solution (1:4)
    DAN'S RECIPE
    - 6-8 black grapes
    - 20 ml extra dry coffee liqueur (100g sugar per litre)
    - 20 ml London dry gin
    - 20 ml Campari
    - 20 ml lemon juice
    - 10 ml light muscovado syrup (2:1)
    - 0.5 grams saline solution (1:5)

Steve this riff on the original Enzoni looks fabulous!! I will be making this beauty for sure. I love the Enzoni and I love coffee so a good coffee liquor is important! I love Mr. Black and I keep some on hand from traveling where I can buy it or from when friends bring some when visiting! I wish Canada had Mr. Black - insane that we can't get it here! This is exciting and is an immediate must make! I hope you are feeling better and better Steve! Sending care! Cheers! 🙂

@@hugoastacio4971 See if you can find Giffard's coffee liqueur. It's quite nice and not as sweet as Kahlua - but in a pinch you could try that - although it's too sweet for me. Sheringham Distillery in BC makes a Coffee Liqueur and you can check to see if it is available in Manitoba. I am not sure how available their products are. Giffard's should be very available in any good liquor store. Are the liquor stores primarily government run in Manitoba or private? Cheers!

I really like you dont edit out the little bit where the skewered grapes slid down and tapped you in the nose.
This does sound really good ...and I was starting to wonder how it was going to compare until you mentioned that original called for a bit of simple. With the sweeter liqueurs, you can adjust. This is going on my list of drinks to try at my next 'lets try these cocktails" night.

Looks great. I wonder if a way around the issue of getting hold of the really low sugar liqueur is to switch it for espresso . You could add a touch more simple for balance, and maybe even a 1/4oz of rum to emulate the Algebra's spirit base. Looking forward to trying this - I made a Americano w/ espresso the other day (an Americano-Americano) and it was lovely and this is like an unlengthened version of that with added grape.

My favourite cocktail sat outside in the garden on a sunny day.
The grapes make a difference. Black grapes are superior to red grapes. Sable black grapes in another league. Use ten grapes.
The ratio of the ingredients is critical.
I'm trying an experiment. Substitute a date and scoop out a fresh fig, seeped in gin, Campari and coffee liqueur, in the fridge for 24 hours.

    • @eafarrar
      @eafarrar Před 20 dny

Mr. Black-style coffee liqueur is really easy to make at home. For a 1 liter batch:
      • 500 mL 2X concentrated cold brew coffee
      • 250 g sugar
      • 331 mL 151-proof (75.5%) alcohol, e.g. Everclear
      • Filtered water sufficient to bring to 1L (approx. 169 mL but may be a little less since the sugar will take up some volume)
This gives you a liqueur with full strength coffee flavor, 250 g/L sugar, and 25% alcohol by volume.
This is assuming you can get 151-proof spirit. You can use 190-proof (263 mL) and adjust the water accordingly, or use 100-proof (500 mL) and omit the water.
You may also adjust the sugar content to your liking. Use a high-quality coffee! There are plenty of CZcams videos on how to make cold brew concentrate, and it's increasingly available for purchase lots of places, too.

The grapes make a big difference.
Black grapes better than red grapes.
Sable black grapes take black grapes to another level.
      Use ten grapes.
