    🍹What is your most indispensable piece of bar kit that you own?
    🎉 Check out the cocktail bar kit mentioned: bit.ly/best-cocktail-set

      The most indispensable tool is the one behind the bar who knows how to make a cocktail.

    You can push the Hawthorne strainer towards the rim to hold the ice chards and any pulp. There is a notch on the top that helps you push the strainer against the rim. I accidentally found it out and thought I’d share.

      This is called “closing the gate”! A closed gate Vs an open gate pours more slowly (in homes this isn’t much of an issue) so if you’re making a lot of drinks back to back, using a fine strainer and an open gate is way more time efficient. Also, if the cocktail has egg white, the fine mesh strainer pops any larger bubbles so you end up with a smoother foam. Cheers!

    I should get a Japanese jigger, I like the measurement markings on the inside, it seems more convenient than a small measuring glass.

      It's a really nice mat hey! The gaps between the bumps are a little bigger than ones that I have used previously so it's much easier to clean. It comes in black and grey: bit.ly/silicone-bar-mat

    Is a wooden muddler preferable over a rubber, plastic, or metal one? I would have thought the wood had a small chance of absorbing - & therefore transferring - fruit oils to cocktails that didn't call for them, even if washed.

    What about a small measuring glass in mls, oz etc for measuring out finite liquids. I use that for cocktails to get the exact measurements rather than a Jigger.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  Před rokem

      Yep, would be handy too... I actually use a pour check quite often which is essentially an oversized jigger (90ml). The sets are super expensive though: amzn.to/3Iysihm
