This improved version of the Long Island Iced Tea was created the beverage director of Porchlight NYC, Nick Bennett. Nick also spent time behind the stick alongside Dave Arnold at Booker & Dax. His Long Island Iced Tea recipe sees a few subtle improvements including the use of aged instead of unaged rum and tequila, a spiced citrus syrup, Fever-tree cola and a healthy dose of Angostura bitters.

So this is the kind of video that folks who are home bartenders and "mixologist" enjoy. Some of us aren't just looking for a recipe. Sometimes, a video like this serves as inspiration. Literally today, I made a Mineola Sherbert that I acid adjusted (I used citric and tartaric acid). Keep the long form videos.
Of course, I was never planning to get rid of long form!

Between this and another video, I am loving how the Long Island Iced Tea can be turned into a classy drink.
I always thought LIIT is lazy confused concoction designed to satisfy hard core alcoholics but your version makes it legit cocktail
Looks and sounds delicious!
Well that definitely sounds tasty AF and will be trying this out! Many thanks for all you do and Cheers!
That looks great and the syrup looks fantastic.
Switch out the cointreau to blue curacao and the coke to sprite/7up and you get an Alaskan Iced Tea
That just sounds like an AMF
@@daxon379 You're right! AIT is more word friendly though than AMF 😀
Amf
Great content, Steve! Had an 80s revival cocktail challenge this summer where we similarly updated (awful) 80s standards into something a bit more refined - like an updated Blue Lagoon. Didn't think the Long Island was salvageable, so will have to try this!
I really like this format with the little recipe on the left corner.
Great video, liked !
Awesome, thank you!
Happy to see your channel blowing up like it has 🙂
Long island ice tea and its variations are my fav. Will be trying this. Best one I've ever had Is a long island Peach ice tea, with peach gin and archers instead of triple sec
Looks great. Definitely going to give it a go. Thx Steve!
Man that sounds absolutely delicious!! Gotta try this bad boy!! Yum 😍😍
Since I never really liked rhum and rarely have a bottle on hand, I once decided to make a Long Island with peach liqueur instead of rhum and it was a game changer for me and my guests. Adding angostura bitters and a spiced citrus syrup also sound like a great idea that I'll try next time.
As far as I know the original LIIT recipe is with white rum, which tastes really different from brown rum. I tried it with brown rum once when I was out of white, but definitely other prefer white!
Steve that looks amazingly tasty will have to try make it
Definitely refined. I was first taught this drink as: everything white in the well, sours, and coke.
Didn't want to wait for the ingredients to make the citrus syrup to try some of the stuff you mentioned, so I did my own thing inspired by this and it was great!
1/2oz Bourbon
1/2oz Vodka
1/2oz Gin
1/2oz Aged rum
3/4oz Cointreau
1/4oz simple
1/4oz turbinado syrup
A few dashes of each angostura and orange bitters
A shake of ground ginger
Top with coke in a glass of ice
I needed to shake this one longer before pouring over ice because it needed more dilution, but it came out excellent! Ginger + bitters + aged liquours really add depth to this cocktail. Can't wait to try the full official version once I make the citrus syrup!
Long Island ice tea delicious never tried awesome steve
when i was a kid i thought a long island ice tea was boozie tea as an adult it is boozie boozie haha great looking syrup need to make that syrup
Really enjoyed this type of video. Definitely would be interested in an "Improve Cocktail" series!
It looks like people enjoyed this one 👌
2 things : First, I need to get some of those dashers. Second, I now want to try a taste off between the classic and the better! Thanks for the vid!
The dashers are only a recent addition but they’re excellent! These are the ones: bit.ly/abarabove-bitters
@@StevetheBartender_ thanks man! ordering up!
i personally switched triple sec out for Grand Marnier and it was amazing
hmm this sounds interesting enough to try again.
Still like a lemon, lime & bitters, so keen to try!
Yesssss we got the amazing smile back 🥳
Only one man on Earth can improve the long Island iced tea...Steve the Man!! 🥃
Lol, thank you but this was create by a bartender named Nick Bennett :)
Noble quest to make this drink better
I found one I thought you would like when we were on a cruise last week. Dublin Ice Tea (my wife got at the English Pub on board.
• Bacardi superior rum
• Jameson Irish Whiskey
• Hennessy Cognac
• port wine
• Guinness Draught Stout
I'm not 100% of the mixture but was told 2oz of everything except Guinness and they used 8oz of that.
Hey Steve... I'm a bartender from India and I absolutely love your videos. I just started my career as a bartender recently and I'd love to know if different shaking methods affect the quality or taste of the drink?
Recipe looks incredible. Definitely going to try it soon. Maybe stupid question, for the syrup, what are the conversions of the sugar, water? Also, could I just peel both the lemon and lime in the recipe? Keep up the amazing work.
Back in the day when I poured, I was taught to make it with the 5 clears (well). Vodka, Rum, Triple Sec, Gin, Tequila, Sour mix and topped with cola, typically Coke in the U.S.
Yup! Sounds pretty standard 👌
Ordered your book, it’s arriving today. 🎉
Thanks Ronald! Hope you love it 🙏
Absolutely, love it 😍
Whoa! Gotta give this a try! Any ideas on when updates the app are coming? 🤔
Android? Soon. iOS? Later.
Welcome ❤❤
Behold, the elevated train wreck that is an improved long island. I can't wait to try! 😂
I want that drink… 😂 NOW
Happily making these and after a couple forgot to put the coke in ... very bad mistake, remember the coke folks, I know you don't have it in Oz or US but Curiosity cola is so much better than Fevertree 👍
Hey Steve I really appreciate all your videos! I did want to say though that this format for the recipe is a little hard to read. Cant wait to get back into making drinks Ive been on a 9 month "break" lol
Thanks for the feedback Rebecca 🙏
@StevetheBartender - where do you get those syrup bottles?
You can find the bottles here: bit.ly/crew-supply-bottle
Would cutting back on the bitters be a good idea, 4 dashes seems a lot.
You can if you like 👍
Can you do the "David martinez" by cyberpunk 2077 ?
Where can we get that bottle
You can find the bottles here: bit.ly/crew-supply-bottle
I wonder if the citrus syrup would work in an Old Fashioned. You usually garnish with an orange or lemon peel anyway...
Maybe it would be too much citrus though.
It would be worth a try! Keep in mind that it does have citrus peel, juice and acid added.. so it’s a bit tart.
Not sure about whiskey based old fashioneds, but I think it'd make a banger of a rum old fashioned. I'm picturing it reading like a more amped up and spirit forward corn and oil.
Drink at Long Island, and you wake up at Rhode Island kind of 'iced tea'
2:50 so is it 15 ml or 22.5 ml?
Dang, mistake.. it’s 15ml.
Where do I find the bottle of the syrup?
You can make it, the recipe is in the description
@@StevetheBartender_I think he might mean the bottle you had the syrup in. If not I'm interested in that info.
But I now see you've answered that in comments before. Great video and look forward to trying it.

Hey, love your videos, but for a few month now your sound is kinda weird for me. Sounds too muffled or something. Are you using software to reduce the backround noises?
My editor, Simonas, has been using Adobe AI for background reduction.
@@StevetheBartender_ hi Steve the audio is not in sync with the video, the audio is a bit behind.
Also the suppression of the background sounds makes it feels somewhat disconnected. It feels more “authentic” or “live” to me when you hear the sounds of what you’re doing.
Yeah, it sounds more like a podcast than it does a video.
@@StevetheBartender_ Maybe a bit less is more in this case? especially around 1:27 your voice sounds like with a tiktok filter. And your voice used to be more vibrant, which i really liked:)
How do I get the syrup bottle?

Delivery to Sweden?

My friend, where did you get those syrup bottles from?
@antlerman7644 You can find the bottles here: bit.ly/crew-supply-bottle
Well now you have to do a lemon, lime and bitters short. ;)
3:21 NICE! that what I'm talking about
Great job!!!!. ❤
Will make when called for in Dallas, TX!!!!
Rumors says that if Steve the Bartender doesn't smile while shaking, cocktail will not as good as it should be...
😂
Some might call that citrus syrup a cordial.
Yep! You could call it a cordial :)
Third time lucky 😊
Great video but the sound is weird, you probably use AI to enhance but I doesn't sound natural and makes the video hard to watch :)
At this point why not use Limoncello😂
It’s very different to lemoncello..
Not simple if it has more than 3 ingredients.
What did I say was simple..?
@@StevetheBartender_ 2:10
@@irashidov simple = easy to make. I would deem it as hard if it had 15 steps to make it and it required inaccessible or expensive equipment. The steps required for the syrup is essentially "make a syrup and measure several ingredients".
