Ginger ale or beer is the key ingredient in a buck which can be paired with a number of spirits or liqueurs. In Jamie Boudreau's Italian Buck he chose two Italian amaro as the heroes. The first being Cynar which is an artichoke amaro, and Amaro Montenegro. The lime juice balances the sweetness making for a complex, bittersweet highball.

Sounds good. Need to pick up some Cynar, I still haven't tried it. FYI your text in the video says 0.25 oz lemon juice, not 0.75. I was confused for a sec when you said it had more lime juice but only said 0.25. Great video as always, congrats on 700k!

I make Italian Bucks all the time! It really is one of my go-to's. However I like to use the format to play with my amari collection and mix and match. I generally like to chose one amaro from the family with a rooty or vegetal (usually more aggressively bitter) quality (like cynar, campari, zucca, fernet, etc.) with one amaro from the sweeter, softer family (nonino, montenegro, ramazzotti, meletti, avaerna, etc). Of course, the ones using campari are more attractive with the nice red colour, but they all taste good and they are a lot of fun to play with.

Doesn’t sound like a ton of lime juice to me. My Dad used to make gin bucks all summer long and they had at least 1/2 oz of lime juice for 3-4 oz of ginger ale and 3 oz gin. Tanqueray when times were good. Gordon’s otherwise! Love your mixings.
