Like most I was always in favor of the two states solution. But I cannot see how that should work. I mean we basically already had a two states solution. Israel left Gaza removed all Jewish settlers and they had their own state in Gaza for so many years. What did they do? They voted for Hamas and became a terror state. That doesn’t make me feel hopeful.

The long term goal is obviously to get the Palestinians out of Gaza. The strategy here probably involves pushing the existing Palestinians south to compress Gaza even more. By controlling Rafah they can make life more miserable for the Palestinians and shake up Gaza like a soda can so the Palestinians really want to exit into Egypt. Obviously, Egypt doesn't want them but in the face of a humanitarian crisis other nations will be more inclined to accept them. Every aspect of Israel's strategy involves taking the remainder of Gaza and the west bank for the settlers, and importantly being able to hold it. Everything else is likely PR and political theater.

Plan can be easy and effective ... Look at post ww2 germany... take some lessons from there. Remove the nazis, outlaw any symbols of islamic extremism, educate, give economical asistance. The plan would have to be much more agressive as Arabs really require an iron fist to get them behaving like civilized people but we could get there over the next 40 years.
