🌏 The video discusses the shift of global power from the British and American centuries to the rise of Asia, particularly India and China, in the 21st century.
    00:23
The 21st century is referred to as the Asian century due to the rapid rise of China, India, and other East Asian economies.
India and China are expected to be the driving forces of global growth, despite facing their own unique challenges.
Both India and China have experienced significant economic growth, but they also face fundamental problems and uncertainties about their future.
🇨🇳 In the 1960s, China's centrally planned economy led to inefficiencies and man-made disasters, but after Mao's death, Deng Xiaoping implemented reforms and opened up the country to foreign investment.
    04:48
China had a centrally planned Soviet-style economic model with rigid controls, leading to inefficiencies and disasters like the 1959-1961 famine.
Deng Xiaoping took over in 1978 and implemented reform and opening policies, including allowing product ownership and foreign investment, and normalized diplomatic relations with the United States in 1979.
📈 The video compares the economic development of China and India, highlighting the significant difference in their GDP and growth rates.
    09:47
China's GDP was roughly five times the size of India's, with a much higher GDP per capita.
Chinese economy experienced explosive growth, doubling in size every 8 years, while India's growth never approached China's peaks.
Chinese growth story was built around a low-cost manufacturing boom.
📉 The video discusses the unfinished policy reforms and privatization in India, compared to China's more effective reforms but challenges with population collapse.
    14:33
India's reform process is still ongoing and hindered by lack of political will and opposition to privatization.
China's effective reforms have led to economic growth, but they now face the challenge of population collapse.
China's advantage of a young trainable population is fading as the population ages and is not being replaced at the same rate.
📉 India's economic challenges, including weak infrastructure, trade protectionism, and foreign investment barriers, hinder its growth potential.
    19:16
India's weak and inept infrastructure, lack of financing, red tape, and bureaucracy are hindering its growth.
India's trade protectionism and refusal to join global trade agreements limit its ability to benefit from global technological growth.
Indian protectionism has disallowed the nation to benefit from global technological growth.

  • @markmuller7962

The Chinese exponential growth was due to speculations in the construction sector, while democracy is generally slower it's also safer when it comes to prevent huge/gigantic economic mistakes and corruption cases (and the real estate bubble was borderline corruption made).
One may argue that the 2007 US real estate bubble was also government made but I disagree, it was actually a lack of statehood and rules that enabled the banks into speculations.
So we have the 2 extremes in the 2 biggest economies causing similar problems, maybe we will learn from it and find some kind of balance to avoid committing the same mistake for a 3th time

The USA having less regulation than Europe has had and is having better growth and a MUCH bigger economy per capita. You can't judge an economic system by the worst mistake it had in the last 70 years.
And going back further, the USA had an even more open economy and was ahead of the rest of the world before WW2. The biggest mistake being govt interference which was the main cause of the severity of the great depression. Federal reserve policies which they have now admitted and apologized for, and other issues like excessive tarrifs.

If you look up in google, newsletters and nowadays youtube are flodded since their existence with "tomorrow China will crumble", "the last days of chinese economy", "CPC failed", "crisis in China, its the end?", and things like that.
Chinese people in the other hand are seeing massives improvements in their lives, by PPP standards, US was passed since 2014, in 2020 China reached 0% of its population in extreme poverty, whereas US has 1% still, 96% of Chinese population are home owners, and jobs are getting more complex since this generation is starting to work later because they are graduating more, China is already the biggest producer of IP in this world, they also are leading EV, Nuclear energy, 5g and 6g, bullet trains, civil construction, naval construction, batteries, and many more.
I'm not even saying China is perfect, because it is not, far from it actually, but they do are improving by each year at large paces in many scenarios, whereas west is in the exact opposite direction, even in the demographic growth issues, west is seeing an high engagement of "not let those immigrants come anymore", but they demographics are literally tanked by this influx of people. But, instead of looking at those problems at home they are bombing countries in the other side of the world.

This whole demographic crisis is way overrated, i believe human labor in the future will be less in demand and in value due to the advent of automation and Ai. This will eat away a lot of labor intensive sectors and shrink them. The real estate crisis was due to come and i believe the chinese economy can absorb the losses. The bubble needs to be burst before it becomes too big and cripples the economy.

Bro just thought, why India looks so poor when its economy is booming and then made an entire video on how bad India is compared to China to justify that notion🤣
Even his last video about India, more accurately presented India's real current status. This is way too half-baked and really really bad click-bait. To the point, I seriously doubt how did this guy get so many subs with his half-assed research.
"India Rising, China Reversing?" is the title, but majority of the video is parroting same old data about China instead of focusing on new developments in India. India has limitations as a democracy but its progress is nothing short of remarkable. India started 12 years late in opening up its markets and today its GDP has already surpassed China's 2007 economy, which means India is just 15 years behind China. Just because it doesn't look like it, doesn't mean India is a failure or something.
India will complete its first bullet train line by 2028 and maybe even a 300km section might be operational by 2026. At the same time, currently 200+ semi-highspeed trains(operating at 200+ km/hr) are going to be manufactured in India through state companies as well JVs with Alstom and one other Russian company. The first prototype is to be completed by early 2024. By 2028, there should be like 400+ semi-highspeed trains operational. At the same time, India's economy will be 5-6T. That will be the 2nd hype wave and at that time you will realize how inaccurate and dated the research in this video is.

India should not practice Western democracy. This system is not suitable for developing countries, such as India. Multi-party competition and fierce parliamentary fighting will make it impossible to implement national policies and seriously affect national development. No developing country in the world has successfully implemented Western democracy. The reason why China has been able to develop rapidly is because it rejected the Western democratic system, which enabled China to implement correct national policies. China is not a dictatorship. China's national policies are collectively planned by think tanks and are not decided by the president alone. As long as the policies are beneficial to the country, China will be able to implement them smoothly without any opposition parties standing in the way.

China has advantages that India does not have. Firstly, as a single ethnic and religious country, the level of unity and stability of the Chinese people is higher than that of India. Secondly, the geographical location is closer to other major economies in the world than India. On the left of China are the United States, Japan, and South Korea, on the top are Russia, and on the bottom are Taiwan, ASEAN, and Australia. China is clearly more conducive to import and export trade.

India is more geographically closer to the Gulf countries and ensures energy security.
Moreover, Chinese waters are surrounded by long Island chains of hostile nations so it can't exercise it's naval capabilities .
While India controls a extreme choke point for Chinese energy security via Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

It may be that China is barely middle income. Li Keqiang, the former premier of China and a top economist, said that China's GDP numbers were inflated by 20-50%. Hu Jintao, previous president, had made comments that seem to back this up IIRC.
I think Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan all grew in a unique window of technological change. The electronics revolution was timed exactly when South Korea and Taiwan had authoritarian governments that made the right moves for growth and quite uniquely stepped back and let things grow.

Only with a low birth rate and an aging population can China significantly reduce its population, making it prosperous because there will be more real estate and heritage. Fortunately, China's urbanization has led to a decreasing birth rate, and in the future, China's population will experience a cliff like decline, which is a good thing for the Chinese people. All these indexes made by western bodies with no credibility, press is as free as ever in India but it won't run with the west's new narrative of painting India as facist since it has a strong leadership now and refuses to follow west blindly , unemployment rate increased temporarily because of Covid as it did in many countries including China and USA and many countries in Europe, India actually has one of the least spikes in unemployment rate after COVID, and India's GDP is 3.7t already and will pass 4t in 2024, so update your data, that's doubling the GDP, and I don't know how 2004-2014 data is any way used to discredit it, it just shows India's has been silently growing for some time now and now since it has become big and visible people have started talking about it, talking about future too India is currently largest growing major economy and has been predicted to remain so by every major financing body like IMF and Goldman Sachs

Edit: I wrote this before watching the video, the author mostly agrees with me, so disregard my arrogant remarks. When China "stagnates" (like this year) they grow by more than 5%. When the us "grows" they grow by 3%, at 2% inflation while their national debt grows by 10%...
In general it's a better strategy at analysis if you stick to facts instead of putting analysis behind your hopes and dreams. China might not become a global hegemon like the US, due to obvious great power balance, but India will never catch up. They want to do everything themselves, which turns foreign investment away.
No country can catch up without that, as this is the most efficient way of industrial growth and technology transfer. Having the largest population means nothing when ~40% is still employed in agriculture, most of them plocking the ground with sticks, selling low yield and quality produce at subsidized government prices. Then we didn't even talk about the inefficient bureaucracy, undeveloped financial sector, major environmental problems, (appearing before significant industrialization), backwards legal system, cast system being a major blockage to social mobility, state wide religious and ethnic conflicts/tensions. Badly educated, low added value workforce... Can't even list all the problems here. By the time they'd get to the level where foreign capital wants to flow into the country population decline will have already started by then which won't allow the Chinese development model to work.

As a india we know our previous govt was corrupt and have muslim appeasement politics. They never focus on the development of india. Our present govt is doing very good work and try to rapidly develop india. We have also a neighbour like terrorist pakistan. And its easy for a communist country to work on infrastructure than a democracy where every project get challenge in the court by environmentalists and foreign funded NGOs.

Modi has been PM of India for almost 10 years now. You cannot blame Indias bad economy on a previous government and on the fact that India is a democracy. The fault lies 100% with the ruling party that a) prevents foreign investments b) is not able to build up infrastructure c) is more concerned with "muslims" than with actual economics.

space economy is something worth infinity, infinity of resources are out there and india is not lacking behind USA and china in space, in fact india have potentially to beat them in space, when humans will start mining on mars and importing those metals, elements from mars or moon to earth, india might become first or best if not first in space mining, that will change india and human civilization forever, world will be really different place in 2050 than it is now and some new trillion dollar sectors will grow rapidly in world GDP, space tourism and space mining might be new trillion dollar sectors and not every country can do what india, china, USA can do in space, and only these 3 countries will share these trillions of dollars sectors, trade through low earth orbit (space) instead of ocean is also concept which is very real and possible, you know what trying to say? space in future of human civilization and no one can challenge USA, china, india in space, just like no one was able to challenge britishers and europeans in ocean 500 years ago...
