    I can only assume that yet again all people do is look at point production.I watched a few games with Sennecke and I don't see why people think he is a future star imo he is a good skater but very average hockey skills.This is what happens when playeres are better skaters they can find lots of holes at the junior hockey level that won't exist at the NHL level. The glaring thing I don't like about Sennecke is that he gets rid of the puck very quickly it is like he is afraid to carry it. Another player that is very similar is Logan Stankovan of Dallas yeah I know he was also a great point producer and has done decently in the NHL but Dallas has a deep team so he gets quality linemates on any line he plays.Stankovan is like Sennecke not an impact leader someone who can elevate an average line and turn it into a great line he is like Sennecke more of a fill in player that needs quality around him for him to succeed.

    Zero reason to take Sennecke at 5 if either Demidov or Lindstrom are still available. If they are trading down to get him, then there better be a goal scoring forward coming back in that trade. ESPN has Senneck at 14th, Bob McKenzie has him at 19th, so he will likely go 12-20th. Habs easily have the assets to trade back into the top 15 if they are that high on him, no need to waste the 5th pick on him

    The purpose of a scout is prediction. I think that Grant is basing his opinions of Dach primarily on his talent and potential while Rocco is focusing on past performance. Grant makes a very convincing argument for Sennecke. The factor that I assume neither Grant nor Rocco have over the Canadiens' scouts is insight into the prospects' attitudes and maturity.

    Habs fan here, the habs lack goal scoring above all else. My thoughts were draft the best goal scorer available and trade a young LS dman and the later 1st for the best scorer they can get. All that being said i dont know if Eisenman is the best pick at 5 i think Lidstrom and Iginla are better choices but its down to those 3 for me

  • @charles6180
    @charles6180 Před 3 dny

    This discussion is moot given some mock drafts indicate Demidov could fall to 5th. As Rocco said, Dach is always injured so can you count on him? If Demidov isn't available then definitely go for Lindstrom or Iginla. Pedigree counts! We lost out big time with Tkachuk given Bergie preferred KK who will probably be bought out at some point. Rocco, pleased to hear you hold your own versus Grant The Bully. Go Habs Go!!!

    For me it's pretty simple at 5th overall, you pick either who's left of Lindstrom/Demidov, and if they are both gone, you take a really good consolation price in Tij Iginla. Thats it. You can't go wrong with any of these kids. I have my doubts with Sennecke, he was only just over a point per game this year in the OHL. I know he was very domimant in the playoffs and the size and silky mitts and all that but I'm a bit worried at picking a "very" late riser at 5th overall, reminds me a lot of KK where he was picked 3rd overall and everyone thought KK had a "heigh celling". I don't gamble at 5th overall, i go for the highest floor in Lindstrom or Iginla over Sennecke. For me there's no debate. If the Habs think Sennecke is their guy, they ABSOLUTELY need to trade down a few ranks to get him, there are too many good quality dmen in the top 10 that I'm pretty sure Sennecke would be available at the 9-12th overall spot

  • @QRM00
    @QRM00 Před 3 dny

    I think Chicago likely goes Levshunov. Following the team, every credible source has been debating between Levshunov and Demidov. I saw a bit of conversation around Lindstrom, but that significantly quieted down after the lottery. Silayev is a name that I have only really seen mentioned by outside sources.

  • @brendanaucoin
    @brendanaucoin Před 3 dny

    Moving up will cost and we have lotsa' D and trading Roy is a loss so trade Matheson and keep Savard as our veteran. but a large forward seems likely. We have Suzuki at 210 lbs, Dach, Slav, and Armia on our fourth line. Priority is not size. A play driver like Catton would add more to the TEAM concept and a need for variety. Catton has it all and needs weight which is simple to solve. Catton pound for pound is the best forward in the draft and the play driver will add more to the TEAM. Size is easy to find but a solid play driver will win hockey games. Lafleur, Richard, etc were all under 6ft but were Giants and were play drivers. We cant pass up on this opportunity. Pick Catton! Sennecke and Catton but for me Catton is my pick !

      Dach could get there. He has all the ability in the world. Just can't catch a break with his health, it's always something with him. If he stays healthy for 2-3 years in a row and gets a chance to actually develop, rather than constantly having to rehab injuries, then he could be a force of a centerman in this league. Hard to reach your potential when you're always hurt tho. Feel for the kid, he's a great player when he gets going

    The take on Lindstrom's playmaking is just ignorant. The reason he rose so high at the start of the year was his big improvement in that facet. His playmaking numbers this year were great. You're forcing an argument here where the only real concern with Lindstrom is his injuries.

    • @roccozappia1284
      @roccozappia1284 Před 3 dny

      Every player has a relative weakness, and that's his. 19 assists on the year and half were primary and half secondary. Not great playmaking numbers. It's also not to suggest he is "not a good playmaker", simply that relative to his goal scoring ability, size, and skating, his playmaking isn't quite as elite. If he had elite playmaking in his arsenal we are talking about him in the Top 3, rather than between 4 and 8. Yes, he is a better play maker than the majority of the guys drafted well later than him, but we are talking about the Top 5 prospects on Earth for their draft year, and by that standard his playmaking isn't elite by any stretch.

    • @sylvanmw
      @sylvanmw Před 3 dny

      @@roccozappia1284 His underlying playmaking numbers were great. He had more of a scoring role. And if we're talking about the top 5, nothing in Sennecke's skillet besides his hands are "elite" for that spot in the draft. His production before Ritchie came back was not good enough for a top 5 pick. There's certainly an argument for Sennecke as the 4th best forward but the only reason any GM would pass on Lindstrom for Sennecke is injuries.

Lindstrom can play both center and left wing and is a safer pick. Just like Kirby Dach can play center and right wing. *But for me, Berkley Catton is much safer and smarter pick, and he would fit perfectly with the Habs type of play. @@roccozappia1284 And then shut up the French Canadians for years while we have Bergevin and Timmins pick up anything under the sun besides talent coming from Quebec and then we can say that at equal talent we pick up kids coming from Quebec. The situation got so bad that there were more francophones players with the Lightning than with the Canadiens( Yup a guy named Julien Brisebois that was trained by the CH and called upon by Steve Yzerman was able to find and raise Quebec Talent to be competitive enough to create the latest NHL dynasty in Tampa Bay). Actually the Lightning was signing undrafted talent while the Canadiens could not do it. After that they could use Leblanc as a scarecrow as to why we should not draft local boys. Dear Rocco I would like to remind you that in 86 and 93 were the last years that we had so many francophones on the team. I think those were the last two years that we actually won the cup. So if it served us that well back then maybe we should try to get them because they actually have talent and not just because we can use them to talk the language and sell shirt to the locals. Next time you barf on local talent think about what others were able to do with that local talent while the CH was unable to find it and develop it. It is not because it comes from USA, Finland, Sweden or Russia that it is better. Talent is talent wherever it comes from but you have to find it and develop it. I am happy that the Canadiens picked up Joshua Roy and it seems to be gelling. The same way I am happy they picked up Suzuki, Slafkovsky, Caufield and Hutson. I am sorry but if you were making the same comments about someone being a specific religion or a specific race. You would be called a racist. I am sorry to have to call you that by picking on local talent because they do not share the same language as you. Leblanc should have been evaluated based on talent and picked either as a 2nd or 3rd rounder like he was ranked by most of the other organizations(I am pretty certain nobody else had him as a first rounder). We managed to screw up two 3rd overall pick in Galchenyuk and Kotkaniemi are we going to make them locals as well because we whiffed on them? The Canadiens considering their history and their origin have a duty to play an active role in sourcing and developing local talent but I think we can agree to disagree on this one. I think if someone like Julien Brisebois at thousands of miles of distance manages to do it I don’t see why an organization like the Canadiens who has said talent in his backyard cannot manage to do the same.
