- On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Grant McCagg, Shayne Gaumond and Rocco Zappia discuss the biggest busts since 2010, the U18 World Championship, the prospects of the week and more!
Good analysis Rocco on Buium. I like this player a lot and the Hab's are going to be facing a tough decision when picking at 5...
Zeev Buium, in my humble opinion,
is a 6’0 version of Lane Hutson,
and better defensively
The way described
Sam Morin…
makes me think a lot of Silayev
Buium reminds me of Scott Niedermayer
is it ok if i share this on discord?
Ryan Leonard is the only one in that list I can say I had ahead of Reinbacher at the draft.
It's one thing to say you prefer other players, but saying he will be a total bust seems out of nowhere. He's a great skater. Played well defensively on a large rink. The smaller NHL rinks will only help him in the NHL.
He's played in the 11 games in the AHL and did very well. He's got size, a bit of grit. What screams bust here?
Grant never fails to pat himself on the back
Grant takes a crazy amount of unjustified, often nasty, heat online. Thing is, his controversial opinions that generate the nastiness often wind up being right. Slaf-Wright is the perfect example. Grant was the 1st public scout to point out major red flags in Wright while hinting Slaf might go first. I've never seen someone get mocked and ridiculed that much over a hockey opinion! Well, we know how that turned out. As a guy from a Irish family myself, I understand the instinct to fight back, but to your point, what is seen as bragging and sometimes passive aggressiveness might rub viewers the wrong way. Grant, I believe you've got one of the highest batting averages in the business. The online heat is the result of the boldness of your (most often right) predictions. Forget the haters!
Ha ha. I think it's important to bring up the fact that scouts have hits and misses. If it bothers you when I occasionally point out the players I got right...nothing I can do about that. I have mentioned on recent podcasts that I missed on Hughes, KK and Pettersson, among others. I try my best to even it out.
2 of 10 were Bobrov 😢
Top 3 pick for Buium ? I wouldn't be surprised ! I like him more than Levshunov, BUT....Levshunov is a 6'2", heavy, mobile, right dman, that's why i still think Levshunov will go ahead of 5'11" lefty Buium at the draft
A huge difference in their competitiveness and hockey sense for me.
@@recruteshockey9700in which direction?
The university of Denver has Buium listed at 6'2" 180lbs
@@robertlegault9226 go with hockey central scouting. They’ve been the most accurate. This is from the mouth of Button, McGuire. Perhaps he had a growth spurt and his university would be most up to date though so it’s possible

Buium better than Levshunov
(in hockey sense & competitiveness)
Why does Rocco always have to leave for the habs oeaoect if the week? How about a sens prospect of the week? ;)
Recrutes covers the draft and the Montreal Canadiens.
If the Sens had some better prospects at the moment that might be an easier task
If the Habs have to pick 5 to 7th, they should trade it away. From 2 to 4 get the largest forward Lindstom or D man Siliyev.
dal colle wasnt drafted by the canucks dude...
Was waiting for this one as soon as I said it. Obviously misspoke, but was an error nonetheless
@@roccozappia1284 oh my bad man. i didn't mean it in a dick way lol i was just confused I'm like I'm pree sure he wasn't drafted by Vancouver but nonetheless watched him here in Oshawa and was disappointed
@@BillalAbdelmalek I had Juolevi next in my notes who was a Canucks pick and just read the wrong team haha
Oshawa had a few guys this year worth watching, good year to be a Generals fan.
Thanks for tuning it!
Man how is Grant not an NHL scout for stanley cup winning teams seems like he's always picking the stars 15, 10, 5 years after they were drafted he seems like a "can't miss" scout 🤔 I never even knew who he was until the slafkovsky draft and him being right that the habs would pick slaf then boom he is on all sorts of hockey shows. Don't get me wrong I do like most of the things he says but come on man nobody is that perfect.
No chance I'd trade Slafkovsky for either Tkachuk
As it stands, Tkachuk is one of the very elite power forwards in the league. Physically dominating. Fights. 35 goals, about 80 points. There's nothing to say he won't hit another gear like his brother. He's EXACTLY what the Habs need.
That being said. Slaf, at 19 most of the season, is already 15 goals and 30 points away from Brady's production. The trajectory from where he was at the beginning of the season to where he ended is so phenomenal, you really can't see where it will end.
I agree, you got to take your chances with Slaf. That's without considering him being younger and what that means salary wise...
lol
reinbacher will end up to be our oli juolevi 2.0 in fact be a bust some will hate my comment but man we pass on
Ryan leonard
dalibor Dvorski
Brendan yager
Zach benson
Quentin musty
Oliver moore
Colby barlow
Chill out and give the kid a break. As Hab fans we should try to move away from our reputation of being a cesspool of negativity. I personally want Montreal to ne a destination where players want to play, how about you?
I said from the get-go,
Reinbacher is a Right-Handed version of Ben Chiarot.
Big, great skater, can play physical,
Handle the playoffs play,
Great breakout pass.
But limited offensive potential.
And only 3 guys they might regret passing on
are : Michkov, Leonard & Benson.
None of the other guys you mentioned are real threats at being future regret
Tkachuk has ego issues wouldn't have been good for the habs locker room.
