- On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Rob Hutson joins Grant McCagg and Shayne Gaumond to discuss his son Lane signing his first NHL contract, what he needs to do to be successful in the NHL, how good Macklin Celebrini really is and much more!
What a great interview, Rob Hutson a great man, you can see where his son gets his hockey smarts from!! Hope we get Cole Hutson this year and can’t wait to see Lane! GoHabsGo
Very kind words. We are grateful that you turned in.
I WAS going to leave a comment but you already posted it 'word for word'... ok, close enough.
Cole Hutson, Tig Iginla and Aato Koivu. And her Suzuki’s brother for a low level prospect.
Okay it's official, this is one of the best draft/Habs podcasts. I used to follow Grant over on hf and I'm happy for him that he's found so much success nowadays.
The good old days. Glad that you enjoyed it, and appreciate the support very much.
Bravo to the father... is real nice to know Lane Hutson wanted to play in Montréal... now I am a fan for life... go Lane
Great show Shayne and Grant and good job bringing Rob Hutson on... He has great hockey knowledge and I can't believe that he tried to recruit Slafkofsky...
I think you have a signal feed problem. When Rob was talking and Grant would chuckle, Robs signal cut out, you can correct that with gear, but a simple cheap solution is to mute your mics until you want to speak, it takes the impromptu aspect out, but delivers the content. Thx great interview!
First time it happened to me in 50 podcasts. Sometimes the signal ain't great. Appreciate you watching.
"Cut the mustard" King of the dad jokes! Keep 'em coming Grant! You guys have been landing great guest. Your show's reputation has been growing exponentially! Nice job boys!
What a gem of a father makes me even more excited for Lane's debut. Great interview
Awesome interview guys! Thank you Rob, for coming on and talking to the boys! Looking forward to seeing Lane play!
wow this is the kind of interview that i love to watch , congrats go Habs go"
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the support!
Excellent enterview !!! Gonna really enjoy cheering for Lane even more now ! Congrats to the whole Hudson family !
great interview!
Thank you! Appreciate you tuning in.
Rob Hutson is a smart man. I can see where Lane gets his IQ from.
Loved this interview! Thank you! Wishing the best for Lane! As Marty always says, growth is not always linear, there is going to be adversity along the way that he will have to fight through, with the support of his team mates and coaches.
I really loved this interview! Thanks so much!!
The one important factor to consider in any young players development especially with the habs is it when you have a bad game you have to put it behind you quickly and then move on and get ready for the next That's the most important thing like his dad said got to learn to get beyond it as quickly as he can .
Thank you Shayne and Grant for this other great episode ! I'm a simple fan, and I really appreciate to get Grant's (and Rocco's) opinions on prospects. I now hope (barring a lottery win) we pick Lindstrom, Iginla, Parekh or Yakemchuk....and Sennecke with Winnipeg's pick !
Please keep up this good work !
Sennecke in the mid 20s is not going to happen unfortunately...ha ha.
Wow, I'm an absolute fan of Rob and Lane. Can we have him over again. Get news on Lane through him?
I’ve never been so excited being a Habs fan since the glory days of the 70’s
Me neither, David. Thanks for watching the draftcast!
Great job great questions as well
Great interview
Thank you!
Nice interview! Really liking your podcast! We should look at getting the other son with the second pick of the first round.
Thanks
Sick!!!
Well done guys. Kyle Woodlief, now there's a blast from the past. His word was gospel on the old Gazette Habs locker room forums. Remember Grant posting there, that's where I first picked up on what he was putting down.
The FLR? Nice to see someone other than Rick and Rob still paying any attention to me..ah ah. Thanks for the note!
Bravo great job, nice interview... love the dog... but if needed I have a good Chinese recipe : --)
Sir, this is a joke of pretty bad taste to do. I suggest you erase this
Are you going to interview Tuch's and Xhekaj's dads also?
Comment ça se fait qu'il ne travaille pas pour une équipe de la ligue?
Hey Grant can you ask Rob if the McPhails are related to him ??
How tall is Lane? 5"8 ish
5/10
He’s basically 5’10… Shane met him in person and said they were both the same height… Hutson is the same height as Quinn Hughes, Only thing Hutson needs to do is as about 10 pounds he’s gotta get to around 175-180 pounds and as he gets older he will just like Quinn Hughes… When Quinn Hughes first entered into the NHL he was very skinny I believe he was 165 pounds and was still able to play and put up points, Now 6 years into Quinn Hughes Career he’s now 180 pounds and is one of the best OFDs in the NHL… Lane Hutson will be fine, Lane is just to smart and has such a high competitive spirit for him not to work out… If Lane was a high skilled OFD with little smarts and low competitive instincts I would be worried, But Hutson is VERY smart and will never give up and this is why he’s going to be an amazing player… Habs fans keep saying he’s not gonna work out because he’s “too small” and comparing him to other Ds like him that didn’t work out, But they are completely dismissing the fact that Hutson is very smart with a competitive personality which other Ds like him never had lmao…. Like I said if Lane wasn’t a hard worker and didn’t have the character he has, along with the IQ he has I would be worried because he would be like all the high skilled OFDs that were small and never worked out in the NHL…. BUT he’s not lol he has everything you need to be an OFD superstar…
So Lane Hutton is Canadian?
Yes he’s got Canadian Roots, But pretty sure he’s born in the USA… Definitely has lots of family in Canada from an interview Lane Did on this podcast before…
No. Rob has been in the US since he was a teenager.
