@4:15 "you can't really expect Josh Anderson to make the cross-ice pass" LOL!
immediately came to the comments after
such a burn
Worst contract in the league
I was aboutta say haha
All the speed and strenght in the world but no iq
He's an absolute steal by the Habs, what a player he will become!
I AM ROCK HARD!
I AM ALSO ROCK HARD 🗿🗿🗿
I AM ALSO HARD ROCKEN
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Ejacute and evacute boys !!!!
Hard as cement
I have this feeling the chemistry he’ll build with the Habs forwards will take him to a level even higher than what he’s shown in college.
Yep. He spent the season with Celebrini, so this won't be the first time he's played with elite players. But the things he's going to do with a prime Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf and Dach are going to be fun to watch. Those players are not only skilled, but smart and experienced as well. He'll benefit immensely from those qualities, and those guys are going to reap their own share of the rewards.
It’ll also boost all of the forwards to be constantly fed by him
I'm a Canucks fan. Hutson's first NHL games game me strong Quinn Hughes rookie season flashbacks.
Similar offensive mind and moves, but the skating is a lot smoother for Hughes. Hutson needs more meat on his bones.
Exactly what is was thinking
Hughes is a smoother and better skater. Hutson is more explosive. It will be interesting to see these two and Makar compete for best dman for years to come.
gally happier for hutson's first point than his goal
He's happy to the prospect of having someone that shoots for rebounds 😂😂😂
That's a true leader. Deserves the A on his shirt every game.
@@_FROSTY_ you can tell in those habs behind the scenes videos that all the guys really like gally.
Ya'll are gonna have a Boston boy in the Lane Hutson video comment sections for a bit. It's weird for me too. Had too much fun watching Lane this year to keep hating Montreal ;) lets go Bruins and Habs!
Hey that's fine, i got Team of the season pasta in my habs lineup 😅
We'll cheer for boston in the playoffs vs toronto, we got your back man
@@Habebandebardown You're god damn right man
As a habs fan I'm hoping Boston wins against the Leafs
@@Habebandebardown Absolutely!!
Watching the way Hutson anticipates and moves into open space in the offensive zone makes it much more clear why he was able to score a lot of goals as a defenseman. I love players who can read plays and anticipate so well. It makes them seem a lot faster than they really are because they move first, and people always end up asking "why does the puck seem to follow him around?" or "why is he left so wide open all the time?"
He’s gonna be the biggest steal of the draft
actually hes not that big maybe the smallest steal
Also noticed that clean little sequence at 3:00 while watching the game. For his first game ever in the league, that was a quite a nice play - from starting on his own red line to being the first player at the other red while creating an opportunity and also being back in time to defend. IMO he has the potential to be a norris winner in the future when he hits his prime.
I like this kid a lot. He's exciting to watch and his skating is dynamic and fun to watch
I've been watching videos of Hutson for the past few months. I am blown away by his offensive skills. Literally blown away. His hockey IQ is in the top 2 (yes, not top 5, but top 2!) players I have seen in a couple of decades. Like all geniuses of the game, he has developed his own personal style and technique. His size will put him in difficult situations from time to time, but like all little geniuses, he has devised a catalog of moves and tricks that give him an edge over bigger players, which is to say almost all other players. My main concern is whether his teammates will be smart enough to adapt to and understand his moves and playmaking when he is on the ice!
I think so, alot the time i notice some players creates great options but habs lack the means to get the puck to that player, hopefully hutson will help
Absolutely love this young man’s game! So fun to watch. Congrats to him on all of his accomplishments so far and good luck in the future!!
Hutson was unbelievable. ❤
I like that you compare him to Quinn Hugues...but his stick handling seems at time to be a little better and his vision and hockey IQ seems high for his age ! I too believe his skating while being good and near NHL level could be a lot better. He will improve, that is certain and after that, it will influence his entire defensive options. I really like what i see of him right now and also his potential ! Defense will be crazy long term in Montréal with him, Mailloux, Ghule and Reinbacher !!
yeah quinn hughes already had elite skating coming into the league. Hutson will have to improve that but it seems like our development team is good with this with Roy being a prime example
Yes that's what I keep saying, that top 4 will be elite. I haven't seen a team draft this many future elite D in such a small window. Very impressive!
This is by far the best technical breakdown video I've seen so far. Thanks . Good channel
Thank you!
100%
He absolutely did not disapoint for his first two games! Can't wait to see him next year. Montreal is gonna be really fun to watch! Loved the video as always M.St-Louis!
Thank you 😊
your breakdowns are always a treat to listen to thank you
Watching him play these last 2 games was a treat. I'm more confident than ever in Habs future.
Tes vidéos sont malades, d'excellentes analyses et tu démontres les deux côtés de la médaille, j'adhère 100%. Hutson has a bright future, cheers \m/
Fantastic review of his play and skating . Thus helping The next gen of players !!! Merci !
Thank you!
Excellent analysis.
Thank you!
Great job. Thank you. He'll sell tickets. So fun to watch and seems like a solid kid.
The NHL or somes Canadian/American medias didn't show any videos about his highlights......
When I see how he was during his two first NHL games, I think that he can easily been a candidate for the Calder trophy in 24-25.
If he stays point per game
@@kingofmemes5017 Ya I mean, but nobody ecpeted that his impact will gonna translate so easily in the NHL. I think that he is already a NHL'er and maybe a futhermore Calder Trophy candidate.
The single-season rookie defenseman scoring record is 76pts, btw.
Just throwing that out there for no particular reason.
This is such an excellent breakdown, David!
Thank you!
Great video guys. Imagine if he gains strength and better skating mechanics related to his top speed, he could be dominating. IQ, shiftiness, and hands are off to the chart.
Excellent breakdown as always David
Thank you!
I don’t know if you are a coach but you definitely know the game. Excellent analysis!!
Thank you!
He’s awesome! The way he moves on the blue line and find a way to go deeper in the zone is textbook Makar
the youth is sooo promising altogether. Suzuki, cole, slaf, huts, logan, Dach, Roy even Primeau and Fowler to name a few.
Can't wait to see the progress on Reinbacher, Beck and mesar.
Top 5 pick this yr too.
I'm enjoying this rebuild from past and present mgmt.
Guhle xhekaj
Awesome video, great job!!!
Thank you 😊
Hutson is such a special player, thank you for this great video.
Thank you!
Great video per usual
Thank you 😊
You are an excellent analyst David. What level did you play growing up if you don't mind me asking and where abouts did you play and which position?
I played winger until I was about 10-11 at a decent level. I was the kid who outskated everyone and didn't think at all on the ice. Everyone caught up to me and I didn't have fun anymore. So I quit. I continued playing ball hockey after that. I just got really interested in understanding the game later on (probably because I couldn't figure out deception or anything like that as a player at first).
Love him! great video
super belle analyse du joueur. J'aime commence tu expliques ses jeux.
I wonder, if Xhekaj really dials in on his defensive play we could see these two paired in the future, the threat of Hutson dismantling his defenders along with the threat of Xhekaj's absolute bomb from the line would be interesting to see
Peux pas aimer assez ce vidéo. PPG l'an prochain
Kid was everywhere against detroit. Gonna be fun to watch him evolve.
Great video
Thank you!
It’s gonna be fun to see what he can do next season, i think he’ll be wha the Habs need for their PP, I can’t see him Laval, gonna be second pairing with Savard I think, which will be great for his development
He's faster than advertised even if his stride isn't pretty. I think he's always going to be a pretty sub-par in zone defender and a bit limited on the breakout but zone entries, transition D and in zone offence his ceiling is so high. He and Reinbacher could be a really good pairing down the road
Hell yeah, brother
This kid is a fkn beauty
Came to watch David Savard try to figure out where to go when Lane has the puck.
I see a 80+ pt guy in Lane Hutson. In the 2 Detroit games, he had 2 primary assists, but he could've easily had 4-5 pts. He's the next Makar.
80s a stretch id be happy with 60 tbh
@@wal-kid4522 Next year he's hitting 60. In his prime, this dude (barring injury) will hit 90 to 100. He's that good.
@@wal-kid4522no way that his ceiling is only Matheson
@@FooFloyDon hes done that once a consistant 60 point guy with the odd 70 point season is pretty good for a 2nd round pick
Looks a lot like Zellweger. That fact that both were had in the 2nd round is mind boggling.
Lol he makes Zellweger look like a toddler
He’s insane
Merci
@2:38 The Habs are suddenly short handed as Armia is going to the bench for a new stick. Armia is leaving the Detroit goal scorer alone at the blue line.
Either way I'm not going to hold it against him, he's brand new to the team and the league. A year from now he won't be missing those details.
@@jacp5628 I was not blaming either player. Armia was so close to the bench and needed a stick.
It's a factor in the play (and I should have mentionned it) but it doesn't change the read. Not a big mistake and not really on him. It's basically "he could have adapted and helped" situation.
Armia broken stick and him leaving to get a new one leaving a man down and not covered was a big part of that red wings goal,
youre right he's not Quinn Hughes. Hughes doesnt go in the corners to retreive pucks.
Trust me Habs fans. P.K Subban Chris Chellios is probably the 2 best defenseman everyone has seen here play for the Canadiens. He will be the best Habs defenseman. In terms of points.
😅😅😅
If we’re going off recent history only. Markov is better than both Subban and Chelios.
Larry Robinson
Is he going to clear the front of the net? Perform the reverse belly slide like Savard? At 5'10 162 lbs, I hope he likes the poutine to gain a bit of weight. Otherwise, I have a vision of Scheifele’s hit on Evans for a second.
the last time i heard the crowd screaming out loud like they did when hutson touched the puck was probably... never !! then i just start feeling something special..something that my grandparents already felt 30 years ago that just disappeared for too long / avec 2 bon gardiens et suzuki dach newhook au centre on devrait avoir du fun la saison prochaine
PK Subban and Alex Kovalev, but I was there, and the crowd become crazy when he maked somes skills mooves..
Nabbed him in my keeper, excited. Quinn Hughes vibes.
He did lose the race with Raymond, and certainly didn't look as smooth doing so, but to his credit he barely lost a foot race with a guy who has 82nd percentile top speed.
Give him a break, it was his 2 first games in the NHL, i think he did great, better than i thought he would, he's not Quinn Hughes, he's Lane Hutson, watching your Hughes clips, was like watching Hutson in slow motion, Hutson is a lot shiftier, with time he will be better than Hughes.
That’s wild optimism, I like lane but I’m not ready to give him top 3 D in the NHL type potential, I’d be happy if it happened tho lol
LOL relax homer. Anyone with a brain knows Lane wont touch Hughes or Makar. Lane can't even skate as good as them. Lane will be 60 pt dman in his prime but don't ever say something stupid like that again bud
@@B-a-s-i Homer will be right.
@@stockey Yea I’m sure Slafkovskys going to be better than McDavid too eh
@@B-a-s-i You never know 😉
This guy's gooooooddd. 😎
I’m hypeeee
8:50 : I still dont know why Nick Suzuki went behind the net in that 3 vs 3 situation, plus Anderson did not even try to cut the pass, the Wings player was absolutely not showing appearance to shoot, the pass was obvious...Hutson did so much, sad he looks like to be the one who did not skate good enough on the play when Suzuki would have a chance to be there to help with a better anticipation.
It's not a mistake, just an occasion to show something he could improve.
Watch the hutson caufieild chemestry
This kid will compliment the likes of Alex Newhook, Caulfield and Armia, just to name a few.
The kid is a star.
He is like Harlem Globetrotters on ice
remember when our superstar rookie and future HOF'er Poehling lit up his first game? lol, they will never learn in montreal
There is always the possibility of failure. But in his case, it's almost nonexistent. In terms of hockey IQ, he is above all the first draftees of the last 5 years. For example, he is much, much better than Slafkovsky in terms of skills and understanding of the game. Comparing him to Poehling is an insult to Hutson. It is absolute nonsense. Poehling does not have one 50th of his talent. Did you see his first two games? Offensively he was already better than 95% of the other Canadiens players. Of course, if you think Elvis is alive, you are not going to impress anyone with your analytical skills!
I don't know if it's because he's a local, but the detroit commentator are selling his plays quite a bit.
Hutson was born in Michigan, so that's why maybe. But I love the fact that a commentator from the other team is impressed by him.
I am so excited to see what Lane can do next season!
5"8?
He looks like PK Subban.. Someone should tell him not to get too popular or they'll trade him away. 😂
everyone saying yay makes me nervous saying nay.
gohabsgo
For first goal defensman from canadians just was so slowminded to clean the situation
2 games whit no pressure and he's the futur makar...thats MTL😂 if he cant do nothing for 3 games they gonna trade him 😂 terrible
3:16 F2
He looks like a loose Canon...a liability on defence. You can't run around that much in the NHL without getting burned. Remember PK Subban when he first came in? They tried desperately to make him responsible on defence first.
Dude he’s fine
His defense is underrated, he is responsible, this was his first 2 games in playing in a system he doesn't know, you gonna get all bitter cause he didn't follow the assignment you made up in your head he had? Have you watched him for 2 seasons? Probably not.
It is pretty cool you spelled loose correctly, that's a rare find on the internet ;)
Uh....did you even pay attention to all of David's analysis comments on the defensive aspect? PK, those were the old school coach days, "play da right way'...Lane already has above replacement value in the D zone, nailed 16/18 outlet passes in his first game, that's elite outlet play from a Defenseman. Liability? sheesh...
PK was an incredibly strong skater (elite) and had a great shot. He used his physical side well when needed but his creativity has nothing compared to what Hutson has show he can provide. Very different players.
lane needs 7 lbs in each leg to be more solid and faster
He sure is exciting to watch! I can't wait for next year!
I'm Canadian and Habs fan, I guarantee you team USA will do something special vs Team Canada ( cole caufield)
THE GOAT
The forwards are so bad in the defensive zone they give the defense zero help. The pressure is constant because the forwards never eliminate passing lanes they are way too far away fro mthe points giving opposing teams easy passing lanes to keep the cycle going.
We had 2 years 160 games that is a LOPT of hockey for St.Louis to "get it" and pass on the needed information to his coaching staff and that has NOT happeened.
St.louis imo is all about offense but to win a cup we need two way hockey to create our best transition game.
"Deception" is how an athlete should be playing EVERY sport nobody should act like it is anything special if your not a deceptive player your an average nobody.Hutson is a really good smart player but he has nobody to think like him so he will be less effective than we would hope.
future calder winner?
I do agree, his speed is great but not execptionnal like quinn hugues if you like at his highlight. In the other hand, I have never see a player use the decption as much has him. When I see him with the puck, its like hes on the adrealine all the time
Indeed.
He's gonna break ankles in couple years
😅😅😅
13:20 the comparison 🤣 freaky
