GOLDEN BOOT - Restoration of an Extremely Beautiful Find that will surprise you
In this video, I will show the complete restoration of a very beautiful and old find that came into my hands. This is an old vintage metal "GOLDEN BOOT" which is made of bronze or brass. The thing is very unusual and unique, reminiscent of the golden boot of a gnome or an elf. Crafted with impressive detail. Presumably, this thing was intended as an ashtray, a jewelry box, or just a beautiful interior decoration. I assume that this thing was made in the 1950s. There is a stamp and an inscription on the foot. What can it mean? Perhaps this is the manufacturer's mark, or the place where this boot was made. My task was to carefully restore this very rusty and dirty surface and not to damage this "GOLDEN BOOT". To preserve all traces of history on the surface as much as possible (dents, bumps, defects), this always adds value and uniqueness to an antique item. I hope I have coped with this task. In my opinion, the result turned out to be amazing. I really like this old vintage thing. I will keep valuables and jewelry in this "GOLDEN BOOT".

@TheRestorer thanks for the lesson. Nicely done! Keep in mind I grew up using wd40...huge fan! I've been learning a lot about restoration for some time. Here's a helpful tip for you: yes vinegar and baking soda can remove rust along with wd40...however depending on the metal vinegar can eat right through the metal! I ruined a project...really upsetting but the owner knew it was a possibility and surprisingly not upset. Let me introduce you to an amazing product superior to wd40! Never thought I'd say that! Evaporust and Metal Rescue...not only is it safe on skin and the environment (it's neutral and can be filtered for multiple uses!!) But it removes the loose rust and hardens the metal to help prevent future rust! I absolutely love the stuff! You still knock off as much loose rust with a wire brush. Then soak the metal item in the solution (I use a plastic or glass container with a lid) then wash it off with Palmolive degreasing dish soap. The metal will have turned grey or black from the process but it comes off with light sanding.
