Restoration of an Extremely Beautiful and Unique Lighter that will surprise you

- Hello everybody!🖐 The Restorer is with you again.🔥😎
In this video you will see the restoration of an extremely rare and very beautiful gasoline lighter. This find is very ancient and unique. I have never seen such lighters before. Its shape resembles a bottle. Maybe it's a women's lighter. The lighter is probably more than 100 years old. Made around the 19th century or during the First World War. Such a design of products was often encountered at that time. Most likely, it is handmade. The surface of this lighter was in very poor condition and needed a complete restoration. Traces of use are visible on the surface (dents, mechanical defects, etc.). In the process of restoration, it turned out that it is made of brass or a similar metal alloy. Also on the surface I noticed a mysterious stamp with an inscription. But unfortunately, I could not read the inscription accurately. Perhaps the year of manufacture or the author's signature is written there. I wonder who could be the owner of this artifact? Do you have a guess? I was extremely impressed with the result of the restoration of this ancient find. I did not expect this rare gas lighter to be so beautiful and unique. And what are your impressions of the restoration process and result? Write your thoughts in the comments below the video. I will be very interested to know your opinion.🙂

Thank you for not putting music, for just letting me hear the pristine, un-intruded upon ambient sounds. It is a fitting match to the beautiful images.
Thanks!👍 Where are you watching from?😉
@@TheRestorer You’re most welcome. I’m in California.
My sister is an artist and she has observed that the artist sees not what something is, but what it can be (or in this case was). To see beyond the corrosion to what lies beneath is a true gift. This work definitely rates a 10.
Thank you!😉👍💚
Many wives are the same way.
And is again.
That is beautiful once you had cleaned it, serviced it & make it whole. Unfortunately as the rust developed there was no single place that remained with the patina. 16:07
It's a fake restoration. Brass doesn't oxidize brown, it oxidizes green. The only art here was when he painted on that fake iron oxide rust. You've been scammed.
From the first quarter of the 20th Century or earlier, Ottoman Turkish antique brass petrol lighter called "ewer (ibrik) lighter" because of its form. It is made by Tresor (Austria) for Ottoman market. There should be "crescent and star" as well as Ottoman inscription in the level area in circular form on the front face.
Man, you sound like you should work at Nat Geo or something. 😅

Not only are you a fine craftsman, but your sense of video dynamics is very well developed. Craft and entertainment at its best!
BTW I really want this little gem. What a beautiful thing!

I love your work, it’s so relaxing and engaging to see beauty emerge from such desperate states. I’m interested in learning where you find these pieces. Thank you for your videos

Your work was a 10. The lighter looked fabulous, so shiny and clean! You have patience, I have to say.
Marvellous work you have restored it's original beauty.
That’s incredible, your talented in what you do uk 👋👋👋🇬🇧🇬🇧
For a lighter so old, im surprised there wasnt any serious pitting. The brass would be fine, but the chain could have been eaten and i expected the rubber seal to completely disintegrate. Well done
Thank you!)
I really didn’t know what to expect. I was a little scared to watch. And than you absolutely blew me away. The attention to detail. WOW!!! I am soooo impressed! And the way you did the video!!! Soooo clever!!! LOVE IT!!!❤

Beautiful restoration and really engaging video production/editing. So entrancing. I'd love to know how you come across pieces like this to restore. Was it from someone's backyard? a shipwreck?
Ebay perhaps??
Me encanta.
Sensacional!! Trabalho de mestre!
Fantastic work. I expected it to look good, but that was crazy. Well done!

Strange that the spring wasn't corroded, as is extremely thin and made of steel.
Muito bom trabalho parabéns 🇧🇷

You definitely deserve a 10! I think this took longer than restoring a piece of furniture. Great job, as always! 😊

What surprised me was how brass rusts like steel, real magic moment
This rust is not from brass. Brass is covered with patina and oxidizes.
Ten for sure, utterly a wonder restoration.

Where did you find this? I'd love to know the backstory on this unique lighter. 😍
I AGREE WITH EVERYONE ELSE WHO GIVES YOU A SOLID 10!!
Que trabalho maravilhoso perfeito 👏👏👏👏
I believe that pin on the side of the lighter was meant to hold an emblem or something. Possibly marking the brand or allowing for personalization. Would have liked to see you get that dent out, too. I've seen it done before.
The dent was specially left to preserve the historical value
A Question : Why didn't you attempt to remove the dent on the textured flat side ?
Hello! I wanted to leave traces of history on the surface.
@@TheRestorer Fair enough. Your attention to not only restoring the item, but leaving a little "wear-n-tear" to denote use is a nice touch.
Should have worked on the dent
It’s a restoration channel. I couldn’t stop looking at the dent.

Your work is a 10!!!
Thank you!😉👍
How amazing, oh my goodness , it is beautiful antique piece
Thank you!👍😉
Awesomeness! Wonder what the missing emblem was on the front?
Thank you! I don't know what should be there
That's a fair comment (i never thought maybe an emblem), but could it be part of a "smoking kit" where the stepped pin engages on to a cigarette or tobacco holder or did it clip on to a rod/stick for lighting high level gas/oil lamps or could have even clipped to a belt (train guard for lighting the train lamps) maybe? (my reasoning being if it was an emblem why the complex form for the lighter body).

Does brass rust like that??????
Thank you!👍😉
That's a lot of ferous oxide , on a non-ferous lighter.
🤔
They are paying rent to stay there.
Something that rusted would cause the metal to crack and crumble wouldn’t it. Just a polite question. Thank you
If the lighter were completely made of metal.
Brass doesn’t rust, but it can be corroded, and it gets accretions. Think about brass and even bronze that’s been submerged in seawater! From Wikipedia: “copper reacts with sulfur to form a brown and eventually black surface layer of copper sulfide which, if regularly exposed to slightly acidic water such as urban rainwater, can then oxidize in air to form a patina of green-blue copper carbonate. Depending on how the patina layer was formed, it may protect the underlying brass from further damage.” I think that this is what we were seeing in this restoration. Thoughts, anyone?

Amazing video dekh kar maza aa jata hai
India wale bhai sahab India wale🎉
That came out really sharp!! 10
Thanks!👍😉
Good result but not totally convinced about the "rust" on this and other items that you have worked on. The rust has almost always appeared to have unnatural colours and textures and is removed with relative ease and with little sigs of damage. The flint spring did not appear to have any signs of rust which, being inside, you would expect. I don't know if anything is done to make the restoration more appealing or not but if so then there is no need as the final outcome is great. Just voicing an opinion without wishing to offend
Thank you
Old items such as these were originally made using copper and brass based materials. Normally, these materials turn green if neglected but will not rust away under normal circumstances. Acidic fluids will corrode these materials.
It is with great pleasure that I watched to see how delicately you restored this lighter. Well done 🎉
This appears to be made of brass? I wasn't aware that brass would produce the amount of rust initially shown.
Yeah, it's fake but not many people know that.
Some of these items were made from pewter and won’t rust, so I agree that the rust is faked for filming. The end result is still outstanding.
If I hadn't watched the process from start to finish I would not have believed it was the same lighter. I was satisfying to watch. I cannot rate at this time because this the first video I have watched. I'll let you know later.
Thank you!👍😉
The one thing that most people that have commented here seem to forget is that brass and copper do not rust so I am saying that this video is misleading. Please don’t make fake videos about so called restorations when you are clearly just trying to fool people.
Most of the channels that do restoration don’t have English as a first language. I’m guessing that the use of the word rust instead of tarnished is just a translation error that purposeful malice. Either way eh does it really matter?
yzkiy?
