In this video I will show you how to restore an old rusted trench lighter and inlay this lighter with gold and gemstone jewelry. This beautiful rare lighter was sent to me by my friend. The lighter was in very poor condition, covered with rust, oxide and dirt. It is probably a WW1 trench lighter. So this find is probably more than 100 years old. He asked to make a complete restoration of the surface and decorate it with a gold ornament in the form of a cross inlaid with stones. He wants to present the restored and working lighter to his grandfather and make a surprise for him. The restoration process took a lot of time. Everything had to be restored in detail so that the surface was perfect. I thought for a long time how exactly to glue this gold decoration to the lighter, but I found a solution. The result of the restoration was impressive. Everything went well. I myself did not expect such an extremely beautiful result. The lighter became unique and very beautiful. 09:13 I use a file for grinding damaged parts
10:27 I use goya paste for rough polishing of deep scratches
11:20 I polish the brass surface with a finishing polishing paste for a perfect shine
13:11 We assemble all the restored parts of the lighter
14:57 I glue a gold ornament to the lighter

those old lighters made of brass wouldn't oxidize with rust. they would be a green color similar to the statue of liberty. you are a fraud and applied brown paint to make the appearance of rust.

Very nice turn out , I enjoy watching a master at his craft returning old relics from their decaying state to the way they were meant to be seen for others to enjoy as well.
