Very Beautiful and Rare Assassin's Dagger - Restoration ASMR

- Hello everybody!🖐 @TheRestorer with you again.🔥😎
In this video I will show my restoration of a very beautiful and ancient dagger. This rare dagger was probably the personal weapon of an assassin in ancient times. I met many similar daggers among archival photos. This antique find is made from an alloy of brass and other metals. I received this amazing artifact in very poor condition. The surface of the dagger is very oxidized, covered with dirt and rust from other rusted objects that were found with it in the ground. The restoration process was difficult and lasted quite a long time. It was necessary to carefully clean and restore the damaged surface of the dagger so as not to damage the carved handle and blade. The origin and approximate year of manufacture are unknown to me. Maybe he is several centuries old. If you have more information about this antique dagger, please let me know in the comments. It will be very interesting to learn more.
I hope you liked the result✨ of the restoration.🙂

10!!!
From the style and design, I believe that’s actually meant to be a letter opener. Though I could most certainly be wrong.
Opening letters? How is it?)
I think so too
Looks like a letter (wax seal) opener and the back would be a seal stamp? I saw something similar on an antique desk once.
@@TheRestorer meant to open an envelope, or slice under a wax seal. Too decorative to be a blade meant to be used in stealth.
Assassins wouldn’t want something so showy, stands out, sticks in the memory. Assassination is all about stealth and not being noticed.
An assassin’s blade would be plain, unremarkable, and easy to hide. I say this only as an author and TTRPG player, not as someone with practical knowledge or experience.
@@katrinthorsdottir7514 this is more or less exactly right.
I miss having letter openers on the desk, they just sort of disappeared over time. Makes me want to go and get one.
What a lovely letter opener.
Thank you!👍😉
After reading a few comments about your restoration, fake or not, it was an excellent piece of work, that dagger was turned from a piece of junk into a beautifully finished piece, I like it sir. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.
Thank you very much for your support! I'm glad you liked the video. There are many haters who want to devalue my work) But I'm used to it)
@@TheRestorerit's fake
Some people like you have nothing nice to say or, in this case, type about the video, so why not just go off and find someone else to bully?😡
Who cares it is just a demonstration video.
How would it be faked?
I'm amazed at the beauty of this dagger after restoration. Each step showed another level of improvement I wouldn't have thought possible. The level of craftsmanship seen on the final result is unfortunately no longer available in today's culture. Excellent work, sir!
Thanks!👍 Where are you watching from?🌍😉
Its always a 10 from me.I think you are a genius. It's absolutely fascinating watching you. Only wish we knew the stories behind the items.
Thank you!👍😉
This restoration was very well done. Thank you for not playing any music as it can be so distracting. As I have read in a few comments, this piece is a letter opener. I do believe we would have known for sure if you would have tried to put an edge on the blade. Also most combat daggers tended to not be so flashy as to bring attention to it during use. A fine letter opener and you did a wonderful restoration on this piece. I would be proud to own such a piece.
Hello! Thank you!👍😉

What a perfect job ! I have a beautiful stainless steel letter opener with a crystal handle.
I love watching you restore the dagger step by step. What a beautiful job. 10/10 I also appreciate that you don't litter your video with words. It is extremely soothing. Bravo. ♥
Hello everyone from Yerevan, Armenia 🇦🇲
Hello!😉
Hello from South Carolina, US.
The truth is, as some comment, it looks like a letter opener, the fact that it looks like some type of alloy similar to brass (That's what it seems to me) corroborates this, the material is so soft that by polishing it, you have eaten the nerve of the blade in the two sides, it is not a combat dagger, far from it.
😐😑😶
Thanks for the info
I've noticed a lot of CZcamsrs who do these restorations are residing in European countries, what we of the Western world reverently call the "Old Countries". I wonder if that is because craftsmanship is so much more revered there than here. Rest assured that I admire such and am in awe of many of your (plural) talents!
Thank you very much! I think there are talented people all over the world.
As I already mentioned in one of your videos, you don't need points, because what you do is an art, bringing back to life those beautiful pieces !!! I can spend hours watching you work. I have a silly question, but how do you feel every time you finish a job and see the final results? Thanks.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like my work. I just love what I do. And I'm glad that I can share my work with my viewers and they like it.
You rate 10+ from what I've seen. You are truly gifted by God to have the patience and skills for the task at hand! I'm fascinated with your work - don't stop posting!
It is beautiful. Would like to have seen you sharping the blade and showing how well it cut. But it is a work of art. Thank you for sharing it with us.

просто завораживает это преображение старинного предмета . Словно заново рождается.
As usual your work is amazing, I'd never have thought of using electrolysis to feel the holes. Now this dagger is gorgeous ! And by the way, your dispatch case for your Dremel tools is absolutely unbelievable I didn't even know so large cases were existing for Dremel. I thought mine was complete carrying my tools all around the drill, but in fact when seeing yours I need to reconsider. It even looks like there's another level under.
Thank you for viewing! I'm glad you liked the video. Yes, there are many nozzles.

Any assassin would appreciate your result. Easily concealed and identified by touch, the elaborate decoration that slides without snagging. A long, thin, surgically smooth blade that penetrates deep and allows the cut to close long enough to prevent initial obvious external bleeding. You have indeed restored this weapon, and made an historical statement at the same time.
Watching a restoration every night. So calming..(..just can't do ringing bowls.) Amazing things you bring back to perfection. Thanks...

It has been artificially aged. Fresh rust has not eaten into the metal.
Because this metal is very stable

Hey nice Work on such a Amazing Dagger. I found on line for a DIP that Removes Rust .. Molasses and Water at about 6 to one, it works great. I build custom Trucks and my 35 Truck hood was Frozen solid , so I mixed a batch of Mol Dip filled up a Kiddy pool and in Five Days that Rusted and Frozen Hood , was Clean and Pulled Apart By it self . That Damn Dip lasted some 6 months and worked great on anything metal, Brass, Bronze ., Good luck Ben

Hey can you do rusty antiques or jewelry? It’ll be cool to see that
No, I'm not a jeweler)
actually this is NOT a rare Assassin"s Dagger , it is an office Envelope opener made in China , i have one just like it! it was Mashine made in one single piece of semi Copper so it is not very hard to restore , i like the Polishing job though! thanks!
Thanks!
So your Chinese letter opener can't be a design copied from something older? Sure.
i don't think so, you can obviously see the factory machine mass production signs on it ,maybe both of them are copy designed from an Antique version, sure, but those two are surely brass openers! what really matters is the restoration job itself! it was perfect!@@slbarbieri1725

Why, on Earth, assassins had to have ladies envelope openers made of bronze?
And, additionally , very strange rust this bronze "dagger" has: the iron red rust, instead of copper green one. Why so?
🤔
Another amazing restoration! Whatever it was in a previous life. It has now been restored to a thing of beauy .

-1 Bronze, brass & copper does not rust. This letter opener has the same fake patina you put on all your restorations
and how is such artificial aging done??
@@mm531the same way forgers have been doing it for many years. With chemicals, paints, dirts and elbow grease. It doesn’t matter how old brass is it will not rust like that at all. It would just go green/blue like the Statue of Liberty 🗽 no rust on that. Look it up on the internet for yourself
by using it as a diode in electrolysis
All that rust... But no pitting! 😳🤔
Hmm,,,, and 50 + yrs later when someone else finds it and restores it, again,,, it will turn out just as beautiful because of the great job he did!!!!
Because of the casting seams, I can't believe a craftsman would give this to an assassin. It may be a weapon for someone of a lesser social class. But you did make it shine. But since you did not put edges on it, I don't see it as a knife. 👍
No words your works are great. You are an amazing professional person.
Nice work!! This is, however, a decorative letter opener, not a dagger.
Thank you!
With a handle like that..agree 100%

To be honest given how there is no pitting even though it looks terrible, lead me to believe you staged this. It honestly looks like you mixed up iron filing with some sort of sand and mortar and stuck it in water to rust. The stuff you were picking off looks more like moulding sand.
This is your opinion. Thank you!
It looks like a letter opener, excellent work.

Fake. "simulated rust" coating did not affect metal at all. No pitting, erosion etc. especially if it was "ancient". It's a not very old letter opener.
Why? Because brass does not corrode so easily. And it's not exactly rust. The surface oxidized over time
You could be right. But it is still very entertaining TMO.
