I personally recommend a Bible that you can understand and read. I did. I read the KJV and well... couldn't read it so i tried the NIV and haven't left ever since, I recommend a translation that best speaks to you according to the Holy Spirit.

You are interpreting Matthew 16:18-19 in the light of what Paul said in his letters. That is a wrong method. You must, on the other hand, interpret Paul's words in the light of Jesus' words in the Gospels. Give priority to Jesus over Paul. Now what did Jesus say in Matthew 16:18-19? Can you read this passage right from verse 13 and its logical progression and conclusion? No, because you are obsessed with your anti-Catholic prejudices justifying them by using Paul. Read Matthew 16:18-19 honestly and logically. If you do, you will conclude what Catholics concluded over 2000 years ago. And the logic in this passage is not difficult to find. Without a logical reading of this passage, you will not only disown Peter but also disgrace Jesus for his illogical utterances and behaviour. But Jesus was not illogical, you Protestants are. You think you think biblically which is utterly false given your lack of understanding of Matthew 16:18-19.

I own a NIV Bible and I absolutely love it. It's easy to read and easy to understand. Makes me want to read scripture more often. However i also own a KJV Bible and it's the total opposite, no offense but I'm not from 17th century England. I don't speak archaic. I spend more time translating the KJV more into something a bit more 21st century than reading the Bible and understanding it. No more KJV for me, I'M NIV all the way. Most popular Bible translation in 2023.

This is an endless debate. Because quite frankly, the Bible says both. PAUL was basically a Southern Baptist and James was basically a Roman Catholic. And this debate was never settled in their day, neither will it be settled in ours. The Scriptures leave it unclear for some reason.
