The early days of the iOS App Store jump started his indie game development career, with Chopper and Chopper 2 being huge hits. The Blockheads was another massive success, with over 20 million downloads.
Based in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, Dave has a passion for creating living, breathing worlds, with a focus on interactivity and creative play. He has combined this passion with many years of experience to create his debut PC title and culmination of his career - Sapiens. Have you thought about bluring the shadows the further away it is from the object? I think it is a huge improvement visually, specially if you have mountains that cast shadows on terrain
I don't know if you want this information or not, but rivers are more sinuous in steep terrain and harder soil. And type of ground will also play a massive role in biomes. At this point you might go all the way with the idea of generating the mineral type of the terrain.

I am a bit late to the party. Haven't seen the game before and just finished this video. Congrats on releasing your game. It is easy to be stuck in development hell and never reach the goal. The game looks interesting, will check it out. I realise it is very late in the development, but your "hand"-logotype, the primitive age and you markings on the ground when your sapiens where working got me thinking about rock carvings. How it would have been a interesting in-game interface to let the sapiens reveal and carv areas for different tasks like fletching and preparing, "bowls" or cooking. Carvings of different animals, ships, weapons, man, sun and all the classic rock carvings for different tasks, orders or goals. If not for all sapiens, maybe placed next to some kind of leader/shaman who is the keeper of the carvings. And if not in-game, it would make a pretty nifty options/quests menu =)

Dave, as a Blockheads fan, Im glad that you are still developing games, and that these games especially look good. Even though the Blockheads are no longer around, your contributons have affected me so much. I remembered when I would create a house in a hill in Blockheads, and create a little fortress, I remembered when I would go see other worlds and see incredible creations. You are doing good work, and I'm proud of how far you have come.
I feel like this is where the Sapiens playlist should start.. Because it's the actual beginning, and nothing's better than seeing where it really started.. Just a world with a few ideas. Love it!

Hi Dave, I have been playing your game. Its a really good game so far. I was thinking about the idea of war between Sapiens where as others have said. You could develop as a simple fight between Sapiens to more complex situations. I was also wondering if there would be more skills added to the skill tree.
