What always bothered me about Hiyoko's death was how Mikan killed her. No murder weapon was ever really mentioned for her murder.

out of all the 3rd trials in the Danganronpa Franchise, I think Mikan's was best. She somehow managed to fake her alibi and its also pretty cool how we get to hear Mikan's serious voice.

Granted these games do have their flaws but I will agree that DD is probably the weakest. At least SOJ tries to improve on it but it did a flanderization of the charcters that were brought back like Maya for example.

Great video! Aside from TGAA, Apollo is my favorite mainline game in the series. I personally loved the story and twists, and although the third case was a bit on the weaker side, I enjoyed the game immensely for what it brought to the table. That's why when it came to playing Dual Destinies after I was initially a bit disappointed. Phoenix's character regression and the sidelining of Apollo in favor of Athena was pretty rough at first, but I have to say that when Dual Destinies was doing it's own thing and not relying on older characters and plot points, I think the game was generally really fun. If this was the way the series was going to go, then I hoped they'd just do their own thing since the director of Dual Destinies clearly wanted to go in his own direction instead of following up the plot elements Takumi was setting up. Unfortunately, I think Spirit of Justice did a lot of damage though. Them trying to wrap of Apollo's storyline felt really rushed, and never got he proper time it needed to develop since the game also had to compete with Phoenix in another country, Maya returning, and the fact that they had to shoehorn Athena into the game even though she added nothing to the plot. This was also not including the cases, which I generally found to be really weak too. My hope for a potentially new Ace Attorney game is that they'll go in a different direction with newer characters next time, similar to how TGAA did, but maybe in the time period of the other games. I tend to be more accepting of change when compared to the rest of the Ace Attorney community, since I always stood up for Apollo Justice despite the criticisms it used to have, so I also hope fans will be more accepting of change in the future because that inevitably needs to happen for this series to survive in my opinion.

Turnabout big top is kinnda set up for Pearl and Maya... Pearl more importantly cause of the previous case but that could be in an important case.

I mean that whole Haruhiko line was kinda a mistranslation, I think in the original it was “small” but I wish that phrase was edited because it paints him in a kinda weird light to the point I have heard people call him a pedo over it

Imo, one of the two characters that died ARE likable for the third trials. Hiyoko, Yamada, and Tenko (even if slightly less) are unlikeable characters that I really can’t see evolving further. Cause even in Danganronpa 3 in the case of Hiyoko is she still completely unlikeable after befriending everyone in her class. Yamada is just grimey, and Tenko is just plain annoying. And out of the 3 culprits only Celeste was likable among them. I swear the creators either made 90% of their characters unlikeable on purpose or they just actually thought they were creating good characters. (Let’s also not mention the creators opinions on characters of darker skin)

While Phoenix linda reverted, you can see at times (like when he enters the courtroom dueling the fist case of Dual Destinies) that he CAN act more confident. It's just that he does this waaay less often

If mikan told ibuki to kill herself, then it wouldve been classed as a suicide, not a murder, so ibuki would be the blackened not mikan. Thats why mikan had to strangle her

In my opinion they should have made Sonia and kirumi swap roles. It just makes more sense for the ultimate princess to to willingly kill someone and sacrifice the other students in order to escape the killing game and find out what happen to her people and it would do more for her character. For kirumi it would give her a reason to be another survivor in v3

honestly I really liked v3's case 3 cuz of lesbians and also I think the scenario and environment was pretty cool, and I just love korekiyos dumb bullshit story I dont care how crazy it is I think its the perfect amount of insane for me especially how he breaks down.

There are so many plot holes on Milan’s trial. I mean, even the resolution focus only on hajimes pov, and not the murder itself, it feels empty and boring since we don’t know what time or how mikan did it all. Not even getting a murder weapon and the timeline is so mixed… “ibuki was standing when hyouko was killed”, “ibuki was killed before hyouko”, why mikan went through the trouble of hiding hyouko then? Ah… so unsatisfying

Ive always had fun with the 3rd case, but that might be because my sis and i always approached it in a "you know WHO did it, but now you need to prove HOW they did." I've also never really understood why people got so mad about character development? They're in a killing game, i really doubt a murderer would stop and go 'you know what? Go on, grow as a person then I'll come kill you.😊' (and this is coming from someone whose fav character *always* ends up either being the 1st victim/ killer-)

Something about Hiyoko: Fuyuhiko was originally supposed to be one of the two victims in chapter 3. But pretty late into the development of the game, he was saved, and Hiyoko was put in his place instead. This is made obvious since Fuyu had his arc completed at the time, which is why his character falls flat in the latter half of the game (at least in my opinion). We couldve had Hiyoko as a survivor, and I would've loved to see what her finished arc would've looked like. I'm so upset she didnt make it, I loved her 😭

Apollo Justice was a jolt to a lot of fans thanks to introducing a new protagonist, meanwhile Ace Attorney 5 got flack for all bit disregarding a lot of the set up and story from Apollo Justice. Personally, I do love both games, but in different ways, they both fall short of the original trilogy.

This is why, SDRA 2 has the best 3rd case

Im gonns be honest with the Celeste fans, she was aways a greedy manipulative asshole, the entire free roam events with her are about gambling,threatening and ranking people like a full on sociopath. She is the most obvious evil person in the setting despite people acting like she is a good liar

But... Kudo NEVER saw the victim in person. He only saw Tigre... ONCE. So its still dubious for him to differentiate the two. Like even if you present a picture, its believable that you wouldn't get all the details correct for someone you only saw once without a side by side comparison. And he only passively saw Tigre at that.

Ik this was 3 years ago but i still wanna say that i think another part of why the 3rd chapter gets hated on is because of the fact that 2 and 3 had the same reason to kill another person, they just walked into them during the set up and thats super boring. And i didnt like how celeste killed hifumi just because, they shouldve made a good murder plan that actually involved killing 2 people

I love this case. It feels scary, a lot of questionable characters, a really dark ending, a tense atmosphere bc you know neither mia or edgeworth had ever lost a case at this point

What I find amusing is often Third Cases are mostly just hated in the west for the same reasons they are not hated in Japan. Characters like Oldbag and Meekins are I think overhated by western fans because their eccentric silliness grates on them because it’s a very “Japanese” sort of silly. It’s basically Tingle Syndrome from the Legend of Zelda lol. As for me, I don’t hate most third cases. For one I generally just have a high tolerance for goofy whacky characters. For two, I pretty much base all of my ire around not only a case’s internal logic but also it’s emotional pay off, which is what keeps me from hating Turnabout Big Top and Turnabout Serenade in particular because for all the flaws in those cases they do both deliver emotional gut punch stories (though I do think they are weaker cases overall because their internal logic really is pretty bad ESPECIALLY Serenade). I think something you overlooked for Big Top and Serenade tho are they’re both cases with really abrasive mechanics in them. For Big Top it’s how the clown wears out his welcome so hard in-story that he puts you in a One Miss Gameover state which is just frustrating, and Serenade has the admittedly clever but also very difficult music equalizer puzzle. It’s a pretty classic case of Take Any Two of Three: people will tolerate stupid characters, stupid writing, and stupid mechanics, but only any two. Lots of Ace Attorney cases have these absurdities like questioning the parrot or keeping the assassin on the radio or the… entire fucking end stretch of Investigations, but usually just one or two of the three. Big Top and Serenade tend to do all three (moreso Big Top than Serenade, I don’t think anyone finds the main players of Serenade particularly annoying but the core conceit of “a blind child killed a man in one shot with a magnum revolver” does a lot of heavy lifting there lol).

Also just found out that it wasn’t supposed to be hiyoko or fuyuhiko it was supposed to be nekomaru because originally fuyuhiko was gonna come back as a cyborg but they thought it looked more silly and didn’t fit his serious story

I honestly don't get why so called "3rd Episodes" get lot of flaks. If you're looking for air-tight logic in Ace Attorney games, you can look elsewhere. Most cases required bit of suspension of disbelief anyway since the plot and developments and mysteries were always pretty wild over the course of these games. Also most of these cases have some degree of main character developments that help flesh out overall arcs and keep us engaged until their resolutions. And some of those characters do showed up again in future episodes, so I wouldn't dare skipping them even in repeat playthroughs. Even so, Recipe for Turnabout is still the weakest of bunch and as filler as you can get and that's the ONLY 3rd Episode I can agree about being rightfully the worst in a game. Also, I can totally get why people absolutely do NOT enjoy Turnabout Big Top (especially that one creepy detail...), even though I do enjoyed it for how whacky and wild and funny an Ace Attorney premise can get when pushed to an extreme. Heck, some of non-3rd Episodes are weak in their own ways (Adventure of Unbreakable Speckled Band is an absolute slog!) and some 3rd Episodes are downright great. Turnabout Academy, The Rites of Turnabout, Adventure of Runaway Room, Return of Great Departed Souls! Those are some of all-time greats in my book.

People didn’t like Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies because Apollo wasn’t Phoenix and Athena wasn’t Maya Fey. Crazy AA fans were super allergic to change and it shows. Also, people didn’t like how Phoenix got disbarred? Did they not pay attention at all to the game? Like Kristoph made it very clear of an incident 7 years ago in Turnabout Trump. Then in Succession, Phoenix using the forged evidence was completely an accident and a set up. All planned out by Kristoph.

5:41 with his motive he did. Korekio wanted to kill as many girls as possible to be friends with his sister. Also, Mikan was driven to murder by despair and insanity. Celeste's motive was dumb tho

So, another thing about double murders is issues with motive. There are lots of reasons you might murder someone, especially in a killing game like this, but there would be very little practical purpose in killing two. As you said, two people just makes more evidence and isn't necessary for escape, so killing a second person is pointless. This narrows the motive down to, essentially, two options. Either the second murder was spur of the moment, which makes that murder generally boring, or the culprit calculated two murders for some reason, which, while it could be interesting in some cases, will generally boil down to "because the culprit's evil", unless you manage to pull it off really well. Don't get me wrong, this could be interesting. For example, if a character had a really personal motive that drove them to kill two people, than that could theoretically be done well, but the game didn't do that, and just made the second death pointless

The Great Ace Attorney had some of the best writing is the series throughout. Loved those games. The jury system was pretty cool too.

my heart actually broke when i heard people hate turnabout seranade. THATS LITTERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE CASES IN THE WHOLE SERIES !!! i love the gameplay , you got to dig deeper into klavier and see him vulnerable and in a state of desperation since his freind and bandmate is being convicted of murder, we get introduced to thalassa and i loved seeing appolo and trucy interact with her! plus i found the music really cool and i firmly believe appolo justice wouldnt have went so smoothly without turnabout serenade😓

At least when I played, I felt bad not much for Terry death itself but more for the situation Mia was, in your first case seeing someone dying in front of you (maybe even considering yourself the cause of the death) must not be easy, and to make it even worse the one guilty of the crime walked freely. I was the entire case waiting to see what made Mia stay 1 year out of action but I was not expecting a suicide (all cases involve murder but watching someone loss a life right in fornt of my eyes still shocked me). In general this case is good, but for me the weakest of the Third game, as almost everyone said it is a way to improve Bridge to a Turnabout (and for me personally it also makes a replay of Turnabout Memories a lot better)
