The craziest place i ever lived was at this little community of duplexes that's right off camera there at about the 6:28 mark. We moved there not long after this in the spring of '86. The place was full of crazy white trash druggie alcoholic types but they knew how to have a good time, I actually kinda loved the place, there was never a dull moment there i can promise you that.
10:32 - Awesome to know that the Fred Meyer at 4615 196th St SW in Lynnwood still existed in 1989 and still in business today as of July 2024.
Love these things, they're great if it's somewhere you frequented back in the day. No doubt the closest thing we'll ever have to a time machine. I wonder if the green VW bus about 4 minutes in was our neighbor there in lovely Lake City.
4:33 nice to see 66 chevy as daily drive still on the road 11:37 nice 66 or 67 riviera😍
8:35 The Kingdom!!!! I was in the military in 97. I finished boot camp in August of 97. I think I was in infantry school during this recording, I can't remember exactly.
6:20 Wow, no traffic. The good ole days
2:05 - On the left: Cooper's Alehouse. In 1987 when this was recorded, Cooper's was one of a small number of taverns that carried the latest and greatest "microbrews" from Washington and Oregon. And in 1987 I could frequently be found inside Cooper's with a pint.
2 things I miss: Regular gasoline $0.97 / gal, and Everett without crackheads camped all over the city.
I remember the air field where Lowes is now.
The onset of lake city way looks exactly the same today.
Wow were they in the middle of constructing the jail over on Pacific?
Man look at all the incandescent traffic signals. When did Seattle convert most of their traffic lights to LeD
Silo... lol
Ah man, jeryy's surplus and Alfy's pizza...... That pacman tabletop arcade was the shit. The fireplace of course was the best feature
Chilling seeing the green river killer’s hunting ground during the time he was active
This was before south hill mall opened in 1988. Wild to see how much the lanscape changed around the area where Walmart and Bradley Lake Park are now.
Ah, the good ole days.
Cars from this time period were awful looking.
Ah, the good old days, when we still had a speedway. Now people drive on our roads as if they're there.
This was the good old days!!😥😥😥
I grew up in a trailer park behind the barn to the right (8:07, left at 17:59). The end of the gravel road there was my bus stop for school. I had just turned 7 and started first grade at Silver Firs Elementary maybe 2 or 3 weeks before this was recorded. 17:17 was the old buffalo farm on the right. Progress came and took its toll.
Film starts out following behind a chevy nova just like i had in the 70's.
Back in the days when things were more lax, hence many parked cars on the shoulders on either side. It's a no-no today, particularly in urban areas.
If this dude has a time machine, I am going with him
This video just shows how dead bonney lake has become. Money talks, and to the wrong people, unfortunately. Sad, sad, sad. The video hurts my heart.
3 lanes only going both ways 😂
Used to see a lot of dead cars on the side of the road back then, not so much anymore. They either haul them away faster or new cars are so much more reliable.
Same place, different era
I love your videos!
I'm HOMESICK.... what used to be and will never be again.... I MISS IT so much!
Kids dont go outside cus this is what we took from them
At 7:48 Look at those gas prices!
9:56 Pay ‘N Pak sign on the right. Hardware, automotive, sporting goods chain based in Kent.
I Remember Best store and Alfys pizza
How peacefull in 1988...I remember that time....
I miss the old Washington before the population migrations from the 90s and today.
30:31 I own that orange truck! 64 sweptline 225 slant six 4 speend but originaly had push button automatic. Crazy
Lots of 60's cars still running around.
The Google road cam of 1983.😂
I was born in 89. Lived all but 2 years of my life here. Super cool to see a version of city I never even knew. And trust me. I skated every inch of this town in the late 90's early 00's.
Seeing northtown mall actually have people there and those glorious obs Chevy trucks (possibly the best they ever made) at camp is great. Thanks. Also just wow. Amazing how fast north spokane (from the y up) developed. Between the 80s video you posted and this one is insane.
The road surface condition was so good
40:12 The road to where my house will be on the right.
16.25 Graham National Autoparts, repair, and gas station Otto and Vai Sorenson owned. On the right across 224th St is Terry's Store. Across 161 from the Store is the Yellow Rose Cafe, run by Jerry and Nelma. I can't remember their last names. There was an alley behind the gas station, and a dance hall on the other side of the alley.
There are a lot of memories on North Division. It is amazing how few red lights they hit. I left Spokane for the Navy in 1976, but remember Spokane well. 😀
Amazing the amount of build out since this recording.
Used to find a lot of cars dead on the side of the road back then. Not so much today. Must be cars are a lot more reliable now.
Covington wasn't a city at this time.. It' didn't incorporate until the late 90's.
No DuPont?
I grew up in Edmonds so the 70's -80's this place was my stomping grounds. When this video was made I was in my mid 20's. What blows my mind is watching this video, I say where is the traffic? LOL. Everett Mall way now is nuts, so is Hwy 99 and I-5.
